1Grain Size Distribution and Interfacial Heat Transfer Coefficient during Solidification of Magnesium Alloys Using High Pressure Die Casting Process显示文摘The objective of this study is to predict grain size and heat transfer coefficient at the metal–die interface during high pressure die casting process and solidification of the magnesium alloy AM60. Multiple runs of the commercial casting simulation package, ProCAST^(TM), were used to model the mold filling and solidification events employing a range of interfacial heat transfer coefficient values. The simulation results were used to estimate the centerline cooling curve at various locations through the casting. The centerline cooling curves, together with the die temperature and the thermodynamic properties of the alloy, were then used as inputs to compute the solution to the Stefan problem of a moving phase boundary,thereby providing the through-thickness cooling curves at each chosen location of the casting. Finally, the local cooling rate was used to calculate the resulting grain size via previously established relationships.The effects of die temperature, filling time and heat transfer coefficient on the grain structure in skin region and core region were quantitatively characterized. It was observed that the grain size of skin region strongly depends on above three factors whereas the grain size of core region shows dependence on the interfacial heat transfer coefficient and thickness of the samples. The grain size distribution from surface to center was estimated from the relationship between grain size and the predicted cooling rate.The prediction of grain size matches well with experimental results. A comparison of the predicted and experimentally determined grain size profiles enables the determination of the apparent interfacial heat transfer coefficient for different locations.P. Sharifi J. 7Molecular architecture of mouse and human pancreatic zymogen granules: protein components and their copy numbers显示文摘A molecular model of pancreatic zymogen granule (ZG) is critical for understanding its functions. We haveextensively characterized the composition and membrane topology of rat ZG proteins. In this study, wereport the development of targeted proteomics approaches to quantify representative mouse and humanZG proteins using LC-SRM and heavy isotope-labeled synthetic peptides. The absolute quantities of mouseRab3D and VAMP8 were determined as 1242 ± 218 and 2039±151 (mean ± SEM) copies per ZG. Thesize distribution and the averaged diameter of ZGs 750 ±23 nm (mean ± SEM) were determined byatomic force microscopy. The absolute quantification of Rab3 D was then validated using semi-quantitativeWestern blotting with purified GST-Rab3D proteins as an internal standard. To extend our proteomicsanalysis to human pancreas, ZGs were purified using human acini obtained from pancreatic islet trans-plantation center. One hundred and eighty human ZG proteins were identified for the first time includingboth the membrane and the content proteins. Furthermore, the copy number per ZG of human Rab3 D andVAMP8 were determined to be 1182 ± 45 and 485 ± 15 (mean ± SEM). The comprehensive proteomicanalyses of mouse and human pancreatic ZGs have the potential to identify species-specific ZG proteins.The determination of protein copy numbers on pancreatic ZGs represents a significant advance towardsbuilding a quantitative molecular model of a prototypical secretory vesicle using targeted proteomicsapproaches. 9Flammability Properties of Composites of Wood Fiber and Recycled Plastic显示文摘Flammability properties of composites of wood fiber and recycled plastic were evaluated by the cone calorimeter and oxygen index chamber. Results were shown as follows: 1) Wood-PVC composite showed worse thermal stability on time to ignition (TTI) and mean heat release rate (MHRR), but better performance on heat release rate (HRR) and mean efficient heat of combustion (MEHC); wood-PP composite had better thermal stability properties, but was worse on other fire performance; 2) Compared with wood-PVC composite, wood-PP composite showed excellent thermal stability, but behaved dangerous as a whole; 3) Coupling agent PAPI changed fire performance of wood-PP composite and showed a longer TTI, lower EHC but higher HRR. 15俄勒冈州喀斯喀特山区2001年12月13日气旋风暴分析显示文摘2001年12月13—14日,一个强劲的气旋风暴影响了西北太平洋地区,在俄勒冈州喀斯喀特山区产生了强地形降水。这个风暴是“改进微物理参数的观测验证试验(Improvement of Microphysical Parameterization through Observational Verification Experiment,IMPROVE)”第二阶段外场研究的气旋风暴之一。在风暴移过俄勒冈州喀斯喀特山区期间,获得了大量的实测和遥感探测数据,形成了由气象状态参数(温、压、湿、风向风速和垂直气流速度)、极化多普勒雷达探测数据和云微物理参数(云液态水、粒子浓度、粒子谱及图像)组成的完整数据库。12月13—14日的过程具有对流层底层前倾锋演变的特点,锋面向前上方伸展到了强烈发展的高空冷锋雨带中,云发展到了8~9km的高度。与以前华盛顿喀斯喀特山区分析的风暴重要差别是,这个风暴在俄勒冈州喀斯喀特山上空的锋前低层气流是与弱东风气流相反的强西风爬山气流。结果当高空冷锋雨带过境时,在高空产生了大量冰晶的同时在低层地形抬升地区又产生了丰富的液态水。机载实测、地基微波辐射计观测以及雪晶观测证实,同时存在高冰晶浓度和高空相对大的云水含量,地面冰晶凇附也严重。分析表明,锋面和地形的相互促进作用使降水得到了增强。Christopher P. 18Research on Physical and Mechanical Properties of Moso Bamboo显示文摘With the increase of the utilization of bamboo, we must find out more in bamboo properties. According to the national standard GB/T15780 -1995, this paper analyzed the air-dried density and mechanical properties of Moso bamboo in different ages and stalk parts. The results showed that both the age and the stalk part have remarkable effects on air-dried density and mechanical properties. The effect of age is much more prominent than that of stalk part. The performance shows: upper > middle > down, which increases with the age, and reaches to the peak values at the age of 4 and show a downward trend at the age of 6. According to the tests, the optimum age of bamboo for cutting is about at 4. Moreover, there is a positive correlation between air-dried density and mechanical properties. The correlation coefficients between air-dried density and crushing strength parallel to the grain, bending strength, modulus of elasticity and tensile strength parallel to the grain are 0.917 3, 0.783 9, 0.745 8 and 0.507 4, respectively.
