2Computational study on flow through truncated conical plug nozzle with base bleed显示文摘Conical plug nozzle and truncated conical plug nozzle are advanced rocket nozzles suitable for use as altitude compensating nozzles.In this study flow through the conical plug and truncated conical plug nozzles are numerically simulated to first validate with experimental data and then to compare the performance when a base bleed is introduced.The numerical analysis has considered two-dimensional axisymmetric models.Reynolds-averaged NavierStokes equations are solved with two equation shear stress transport k-ω turbulence model.For the validation of the plug nozzle,flow features and wall pressure along the length of the nozzle is taken for different nozzle pressure ratios.For the validation of truncated plug nozzle,flow features and base pressures at various nozzle pressure ratios are compared.The base bleed is taken as 2%of the inlet mass flow rate.The comparison of results shows that the introduction of base bleed helps to compensate for the loss of thrust due to conical plug nozzle truncation.Prasanth P.Nair Abhilash Suryan Heuy Dong Kim 2019Propulsion and Power Research2019,8,2:1
3Oxidative stress and mitochondrial transfer:A new dimension towards ocular diseases显示文摘Ocular cells like,retinal pigment epithelium(RPE)is a highly specialized pigmented monolayer of post-mitotic cells,which is located in the posterior segment of the eye between neuro sensory retina and vascular choroid.It functions as a selective barrier and nourishes retinal visual cells.As a result of high-level oxygen consumption of retinal cells,RPE cells are vulnerable to chronic oxidative stress and an increased level of reactive oxygen species(ROS)generated from mitochondria.These oxidative stress and ROS generation in retinal cells lead to RPE degeneration.Various sources including mtDNA damage could be an important factor of oxidative stress in RPE.Gene therapy and mitochondrial transfer studies are emerging fields in ocular disease research.For retinal degenerative diseases stem cell-based transplantation methods are developed from basic research to preclinical and clinical trials.Translational research contributions of gene and cell therapy would be a new strategy to prevent,treat and cure various ocular diseases.This review focuses on the effect of oxidative stress in ocular cell degeneration and recent translational researches on retinal degenerative diseases to cure blindness.Mohana Devi Subramaniam Mahalaxmi Iyer Aswathy P.Nair Dhivya Venkatesan Sinnakaruppan Mathavan Nimmisha Eruppakotte Soumya Kizhakkillach Manoj kumar Chandran Ayan Roy Abilash Valsala Gopalakrishnan Balachandar Vellingiri 2022Genes & Diseases2022,9,3:1
4Identification of slot discharges in rotating machine insulation system using variable frequency PD measurement显示文摘Slot discharge studies are very important from the insulation diagnosis perspective.Further in practice,testing of rotating machines with power frequency requires sources which are quite bulky and costly.Instead if the diagnosis is carried out at lower frequencies(<50 Hz),the size and cost of the test source can be reduced significantly.Therefore,it is important to know whether the study at low frequencies can be considered equivalent to study at power frequency.Hence,in this study,a slot discharge phenomenon occurring in a rotating machine insulation system was investigated experimentally at different frequencies(50,10,1 and 0.1 Hz).Slot discharges are known to have a distinct phase resolved partial discharge pattern for power frequency(50/60 Hz)excitation.These distinct patterns are useful in identifying the presence of slot discharge activity in rotating machines.Slot discharges were created on a 6.6 kV mica-epoxy stator coil and the slot discharge characteristics measured at different frequencies are compared.Slot discharge measurements were repeated by varying the air gap between the insulation surface and grounded steel plate.The changes in slot discharge characteristics due to the increase in air gap were found similar at all frequencies.The comparison suggests that the identification of slot discharge is also possible from the partial discharge(PD)measurement at low frequencies.Ramesh P.Nair Sumangala B.Vishwanath Nageshwar B.Rao 2018High Voltage2018,3,3:0
