Evaluation of wound healing and antimicrobial potentials of Ixora coccinea root extract显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the wound healing and antimicrobial activity of root extracts of Ixora coccinea(I.coccinea).Methods:To investigate the wound healing efficacy of root extract of I.coccinea Linn, five groups of animals were divided each containing six animals. Two wound models including incision and excision wound models were used in this study. The parameters studied were tensile strength on incision wound model and in terms of wound contraction for excision wound model were compared with standard Nitrofurazone(NFZ) ointment(0.2%w/w). Six extracts(ethanol.aqueous, petroleum ether, benzene, chloroform and ethyl acetate ) of I. coccinea were screened for in vitro growth inhibiting activity against different bacterial strains riz. Staphylococcia aureus.Bacillus pumilius,Enterococcus facialis.Escherichia coli,Salmonella typhi and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and fungi Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger were compared with the standard drugs ciprofloxacin and chloramphenicol for antibacterial and griscofulvin for antifungal screening. The serial dilution and cup(or) well plate methods were used for the antimicrobial study and MIC was determined. Results:The ethanolic extract showed significant (P<0.001) wound healing activity when compared to standard drug NFZ with respect to normal control group.Amongst all.ethanolic extract showed highly significant antibacterial activity against all bacterial strains used in this study when compared to standard. The aqueous extract showed moderate significant inhibition against all bacterial strains when compared to standard. All the extracts were shown negligible activity against the fungal strains used in this study. Conclusions:The ethanolic root extract of I.coccinea showed pronounced wound healing and antibacterial activity. The probable reason to heal the wound was that the external application of the extract prevented the microbes to invade through the wound thus the protection of wound occurs against the infection of the various organisms. | Nagaraj Selvaraj Baskar Lakshmanan Papiya Mitra Mazumder Muthukumar Karuppasamy Simon Santosh Jena Ashok Kumar Pattnaik | 2011 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2011,4,12: | 5
Management of splenic artery aneurysm associated with extrahepatic portal vein obstruction显示文摘BACKGROUND: Splenic artery aneurysms although rare are clinically significant in view of their propensity for spontaneous rupture and life-threatening bleeding. While portal hypertension is an important etiological factor, the majority of reported cases are secondary to cirrhosis of the liver. We report three cases of splenic artery aneurysms associated with extrahepatic portal vein obstruction and discuss their management. METHODS: The records of three patients of splenic artery aneurysm associated with extrahepatic portal vein obstruction managed from 2003 to 2010 were reviewed retrospectively. The clinical presentation, surgical treatment and outcome were analyzed. RESULTS: The aneurysm was >3 cm in all patients. The clinical symptoms were secondary to extrahepatic portal vein obstruction (hematemesis in two, portal biliopathy in two) while the aneurysm was asymptomatic. Doppler ultrasound demonstrated aneurysms in all patients. A proximal splenorenal shunt was performed in two patients with excision of the aneurysm in one patient and ligation of the aneurysm in another one. The third patient had the splenic vein replaced by collaterals and hence underwent splenectomy with aneurysmectomy. All patients had an uneventful post-operative course. CONCLUSIONS: Splenic artery aneurysms are associated with extrahepatic portal vein obstruction. Surgery is the mainstay of treatment. Although technically difficult, it can be safely performed in an experienced center with minimal morbidity and good outcome. | Pramod Kumar Mishra Sundeep Singh Saluja Ashok K Sharma Premanand Pattnaik | 2012 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2012,11,3: | 4

Diagnostic assays developed for the control of foot-andmouth disease in India显示文摘Foot-and-mouth disease(FMD) is a highly contagious and economically devastating disease of livestock, primarily affecting cattle, buffalo and pigs. FMD virus serotypes O, A and Asia1 are prevalent in India and systematic efforts are on to control and eventually eradicate the disease from the country. FMD epidemiology is complex due to factors like co-circulation, extinction, emergence and re-emergence of genotypes/lineages within the three serotypes, animal movement, diverse farm practices and large number of susceptible livestock in the country. Systematic vaccination, prompt diagnosis, strict biosecurity measures, and regular monitoring of vaccinal immunity and surveillance of virus circulation are indispensible features for the effective implementation of the control measures. Availability of suitable companion diagnostic tests is very important in this endeavour. In this review, the diagnostic assays developed and validated in India and their contribution in FMD control programme is presented. | Gaurav Kumar Sharma Sonalika Mahajan Rakesh Matura Saravanan Subramaniam Rajeev Ranjan Jitendra Biswal Manoranjan Rout Jajati Keshari Mohapatra Bana Bihari Dash Aniket Sanyal Bramhadev Pattnaik | 2015 | World Journal of Virology2015,4,3: | 2
Potentials of GaP as millimeter wave IMPATT diode with reference to Si,GaAs and GaN显示文摘This paper presents the simulation results of DC,small-signal and noise properties of GaP based Double Drift Region( DDR) Impact Avalanche Transit Time( IMPATT) diodes. In simulation study we have considered the flat DDR structures of IMPATT diode based on GaP,GaAs,Si and GaN( wurtzite,wz) material. The diodes are designed to operate at the millimeter window frequencies of 94 GHz and 220 GHz. The simulation results of these diodes reveal GaP is a promising material for IMPATT applications based on DDR structure with high break down voltage( V_B) as compared to Si and GaAs IMPATTs. It is also encouraging to worth note GaP base IMPATT diode shows a better output power density of 4. 9 × 10~9 W/m^2 as compared to Si and GaAs based IMPATT diode. But IMPATT diode based on GaN( wz) displays large values of break down voltage, efficiency and power density as compared to Si,GaAs and GaP IMPATTs. | Janmejaya Pradhan S K Swain S R Pattnaik G N Dash | 2019 | 红外与毫米波学报2019,38,4: | 2
Formulation and evaluation of novel stomach specific floating microspheres bearing famotidine for treatment of gastric ulcer and their radiographic study显示文摘Objective:To develop and characterize multiple-unit-type oral floating microsphere of famotidine to prolong gastric residence time and to target stomach ulcer. Methods:The floating microspheres were prepared by modified solvent evaporation method,Eudragil S-100 was used as polymer.Microspheres were characterized for the micromeritic properties, floating behavior, entrapment efficiency and scanning electron microscopy. The invitro release studies and floating behavior were studied in simulated gastric fluid at pH 1.2.Different drug release kinetics models were also applied for all the batches.Selected formulations were also subjected for X-ray radiographic study. Results:Floating microspheres were successfully prepared by modified solvent evaporation technique.Microspheres showed passable flow properties. The maximum yield of microspheres was up to(95.11±0.35)%.On the basis of optical microscopy particle size range was found to be ranging from(52.18±182.00) to(91.64±5.16) μm.Scanning electron microscopy showed their spherical size, perforated smooth surface and a cavity inside microspheres.Microspheres were capable to float up to 20 h in simulated gastric fluid.X-ray radiographic studies also proved its better retention in the stomach. Conclusions:On the basis of the results, such dosage forms may be a good candidate for stomach targeting and may be dispensed in hard gelatin capsules. | Rishikesh Gupta Sunil Kumar Prajapati Snigdha Pattnaik Peeyush Bhardwaj | 2014 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2014,4,9: | 2
