1Atom-economic synthesis of an oligomeric P/N-containing fire retardant towards fire-retarding and mechanically robust polylactide biocomposites显示文摘Renewable and biodegradable polylactide (PLA) has excellent mechanical strength but is highly flammable which restricts its practical applications. Many phosphorus/nitrogen (P/N)-based flame retardants are ef- fective in PLA, but their high addition loading usually decreases the mechanical strength of the PLA bulk. For polyphosphoramides, despite high fire-retardant efficiency, their chemical synthesis often generates chemical wastes as byproducts. Herein, we report an atom-economic and highly efficient oligomeric P/N fire retardant (APN) prepared using a mild Michael addition polymerization with no byproducts. Using only 3 wt% APN, the resulting PLA exhibits desired fire retardancy including a UL-94 V-0 rating and a limiting oxygen index of 37.6%. Furthermore, the toughness of the fire-retardant PLA increases by 85% compared to pure PLA, with both tensile strength and thermal stability preserved. 7Relevance of placental type I interferon beta regulation for pregnancy success显示文摘Pregnancy is a unique immunologic and microbial condition that requires an adequate level of awareness to provide a fast and protective response against pathogens as well as to maintain a state of tolerance to paternal antigens.Dysregulation of inflammatory pathways in the placenta triggered by pathogens is one of the main factors responsible for pregnancy complications.Type I IFNs are key molecules modulating immune responses at the level of the placenta and are crucial for protection of the pregnancy via their antiviral and immune modulatory properties.In this study,we elucidate the mechanisms controlling the basal expression of IFNβand its negative feedback.Using in vitro and in vivo animal models,we found that TLR signaling maintains basal IFNβlevels through the TLR4-MyD88-independent TBK/IRF3 signaling pathway.We describe the role of the TAM receptor Axl in the regulation of IFNβfunction in human and mouse trophoblast cells.The absence of TAM receptors in vivo is associated with fetal demise due to dysregulation of IFNβexpression and its pro-apoptotic downstream effectors.Collectively,our data describe a feedback signaling pathway controlling the expression and function of IFNβin the trophoblast that is essential for an effective response during viral and microbial infections.Ja-Young Kwon Paulomi Aldo Yuan You Jiahui Ding Karen Racicot Xiaoyan Dong John Murphy Guy Glukshtad Michelle Silasi Jian Peng Li Wen Vikki MAbrahams Roberto Romero Gil Mor 2018Cellular & Molecular Immunology2018,15,12:0
8Bidirectional carrier aggregation in next-generation radio-over-fiber heterogeneous network based on FBMC显示文摘We have projected and verified a bidirectional intra-/inter-radio-access-technology carrier-aggregation method for a next-generation heterogeneous mobile network supported by filter bank multicarrier(FBMC).Successful transmission of intra/inter-band carrier aggregation between five broadband FBMC signals and three bands 4G long-term-evolution-advanced signal over 50 km single-mode fiber plus 10 m free-space is successfully broadcasted by employing an incoherent light-injection scheme in downlink.In uplink,two intra-bands carrier-aggregated wireless local area network Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers 802.11 g signal is carried over the equal distance.High receiver sensitivity,low error vector magnitude,and clear constellation diagrams show successful delivery of different wireless services for different consumers.Therefore,the proposed hybrid system should become a potential solution for a future mobile front-haul network because of its low latency and high capacity.Gour Chandra Mandal Rahul Mukherjee Khaleda Mallick Paulomi Mandal Ardhendu Sekhar Patra 2019Chinese Optics Letters2019,17,6:0
