| 11 | Through converting the surface complex on TiO_(2) nanorods to generate superoxide and singlet oxygen to remove CN^(−)显示文摘Cyanide(CN−)is extensively used in the process of plating devices and for surface treatment in the electroplating industry and is extremely hazardous to humans and the environment.Peroxymonosulfate(PMS)-based advanced oxidation processes(AOPs)hold considerable promise for CN−removal.However,the activity of sulfate radical and hydroxyl radical generated in the PMS activation process is low in the base condition,leading to a drop in its efficiency in CN−removal.Thus,a photo-electrocatalytic system(PEC),developed using a TiO_(2) photoanode and a carbon aerogel cathode,was used to activate PMS for the removal of CN−from wastewater through the generation of radicals and non-radicals.The PEC/PMS system could effectively remove CN^(−),with the removal efficiency reaching 98.5%within 2 min,when PMS concentration was at the 0.25 mmol/L level,and the applied bias voltage was-0.5 V.The main active species in the PEC/PMS system were superoxide radicals and singlet oxygen,which was proved through electron paramagnetic resonance detection and quenching experiments.Results obtained through in-situ Raman measurements,photocurrent tests,and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements indicated that the TiO2 could activate PMS to generate active species.Following many cycles of experimentation,it was discovered that the system displayed high catalytic performance and possessed satisfactory stability to remove CN−economically and efficiently. | Laiqi Zhang Ridha Djellabi Peidong Su Yan Wang Jianling Zhao | 2023 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,2: | 4 |

| 14 | Environmental investigation of bio-modification of steel slag through microbially induced carbonate precipitation显示文摘Steel slag(SS)is one of byproduct of steel manufacture industry.The environmental concerns of SS may limit their re-use in different applications.The goal of this study was to investigate the leaching behavior of metals from SS before and after treated by microbially induced carbonate precipitation(MICP).Toxicity characteristic leaching procedure,synthetic precipitation leaching procedure and water leaching tests were performed to evaluate the leaching behavior of major elements(Fe,Mg and Ca)and trace elements(Ba,Cu and Mn)in three scenarios.The concentrations of leaching metals increased with the content of SS.After it reached the peak concentration,the leaching concentration decreased with the content of SS.The leachability of all elements concerned in this study was below 0.5%.The carbonate generated from the MICP process contributed to the low leachability of metals.After bio-modified by MICP process,the leaching concentrations of Ba from TCLP,SPLP and WLT tests were below 2.0 mg/L,which was the limit in drinking water regulated by U.S.EPA.The concentrations of Cu leached out from MICP-treated SS-sand samples were below 1.3 mg/L which is the limit regulated by national secondary drinking water.Compared with the regulations of U.S.EPA and Mississippi Department of Environment Quality(MDEQ),MICP-treated samples were classified as non-hazardous materials with respects to the leaching of metals.Meanwhile,maximum contaminant limits regulated by U.S.EPA states that MICP-treated SS are eco-friendly materials that can be reused as construction materials. | Junke Zhang Peidong Su Yadong Li Lin Li | 2021 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,3: | 3 |

| 18 | Phase Transitions and Anion Exchange in All-Inorganic Halide Perovskites显示文摘CONSPECTUS:A new generation of semiconducting materials based on metal halide perovskites has recently been launched into the scientific spotlight,exhibiting outstanding optoelectronic properties and providing promise for the development of efficient optical devices.As a vivid example,solar cells made from these materials have quickly reached conversion efficiencies exceeding 25%,now on par with well-established technologies,like silicon.Their widespread success is due,in part,to a unique ability to retain high-quality optoelectronic performance while being easily solutionprocessed into thin films.This feature is what defines them as a brand-new class of optoelectronic materials,with the ability to compete with traditional semiconductors requiring higher processing costs,like the III−Vs or II−IVs.However,the interesting photophysics of metal halide perovskites come with a catch;their soft ionic lattice promotes complex thermal-induced phase transitions and a high capacity for postsynthetic compositional changes,e.g.,halide anion exchange.Such dynamic behavior has ultimately made understanding several important structure−property relationships ambiguous and obstructed a clear path toward commercialization due to inherent phase instability.Our aim in this Account is to highlight the fundamental aspects of metal halide perovskites that dictate a stable crystal structure and enable efficient anion exchange,through the lens of thermodynamic preference and phase formation energies.Taking the allinorganic CsPbI3‑xBrx system as a suitable case study,we focus on several ways in which its thermodynamically unstable perovskite structure can be maintained at room temperature and elucidate the restructuring pathways taken during destabilization.In addition,we will discuss the origin and mechanisms of postsynthetic anion exchange in CsPbX3(X=I,Br,Cl)perovskites,with emphasis made toward direct visualization using in situ optical microspectroscopy and arriving at quantitative results.For several notable features of halide perovskites dealt with in this Account,e.g.,strain stabilization,nonperovskite phase restructuring pathway,and lattice anion diffusion,we attempt to rationalize them using state-of-the-art materials modeling techniques.It is within this spirit that we not only modify a broad range of properties existing within metal halide perovskites but also regulate them for enhanced material functionality.For example,controlling partial phase changes and local replacement of halide composition in CsBX3(B=Pb,Sn and X=I,Br,Cl)nanowires can facilitate the formation of optoelectronic heterojunctions,due to the abrupt change in local crystal structure and the correlated transition in optoelectronic properties.From this combined perspective,metal halide perovskites appear as highly dynamic systems,whereby structural and compositional modifications have a large impact on the underlying phase stability and optoelectronic properties.Thus,we highlight several scientific aspects important to the fundamental understanding of metal halide perovskites,ranging from the underlying mechanism and kinetics through which phase destabilization and anion exchange take place,to tuning the thermodynamic energy landscape using external stimuli.We anticipate that providing a clear perspective for these topics will help deepen our knowledge of the nature of ionic semiconductors and provide the stimulus required to build new research directions toward utilizing halide perovskites within versatile optoelectronic devices. | Julian A.Steele Minliang Lai Ye Zhang Zhenni Lin Johan Hofkens Maarten B.J.Roeffaers Peidong Yang | 2020 | Accounts of Materials Research2020,1,1: | 2 |
| 19 | Morphology-controlled transformation of Cu@Au core-shell nanowires into thermally stable Cu3Au intermetallic nanowires显示文摘Multimetallic nanowires with long-range atomic ordering hold the promise of unique physicochemical properties in many applications.Here we demonstrate the synthesis and study the stability of CU3AU intermetallic nanowires.The synthesis is achieved by using Cu@Au core-shell nanowires as precursors.With appropriate Cu/Au stoichiometry,the Cu@Au core-shell nanowires are transformed into fully ordered Cu3Au nanowires under thermal annealing.Thermally-driven atom diffusion accounts for this transformation as revealed by X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy studies.The twin boundaries abundant in the Cu@Au core-shell nanowires facilitate the ordering process.The resulting CU3AU intermetallic nanowires have uniform and accurate atomic positioning in the crystal lattice,which enhances the nobility of Cu.No obvious copper oxides are observed in fully ordered Cu3Au nanowires after annealing in air at 200℃,a temperature that is much higher than those observed in Cu@Au core-shell and pure Cu nanowires.This work opens up an opportunity for further research into the development and applications of intermetallic nanowires. | Zhiqiang Niu Shouping Chen Yi Yu Teng Lei Ahmad Dehestani Kerstin Schierle-Arndt Peidong Yang | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,9: | 2 |
