| 1 | Multislice CT angiography in coronary artery disease: Technical developments, radiation dose and diagnostic value显示文摘Multislice computed tomography (CT) angiography has been increasingly used in the detection and diagnosis of coronary artery disease because of its rapid technical evolution from the early generation of 4-slice CT scanners to the latest models such as 64-slice, 256-slice and 320-slice CT scanners. Technical developments of multislice CT imaging enable improved diagnostic value in the detection of coronary artery disease, and this indicates that multislice CT can be used as a reliable lessinvasive alternative to invasive coronary angiography in selected patients. In addition, multislice CT angiography has played a significant role in the prediction of disease progression and cardiac events. Despite promising results reported in the literature, multislice CT has the disadvantage of having a high radiation dose which could contribute to the radiation-induced malignancy. A variety of strategies have been currently undertaken to reduce the radiation dose associated with multislice CT coronary angiography while in the meantime acquiring diagnostic images. In this article, the author will review the technical developments, radiation dose associated with multislice CT coronary angiography, and strategies to reduce radiation dose. | 2 | Coupled method of finite and dynamic infinite elements for simulating wave propagation in elastic solids involving infinite domains显示文摘This paper deals with the coupled method of finite and dynamic infinite elements for simulating wave propagation in elastic and viscoelastic solids involving infinite domains.This method can be used to simultaneously simulate material complexities in the near field and the infinite extent of the far field.Based on the governing equations of wave motion in two-dimensional and three-dimensional elastic/viscoelastic solids,the mass and stiffness matrices of the dynamic infinite element have been derived.The proposed two-dimensional dynamic infinite element can be used to simulate both the P-wave and the SV-wave propagation within the element,while the proposed three-dimensional dynamic infinite element can be used to simultaneously simulate the Rayleigh wave,P-wave and S-wave propagation within the element.The related simulation results have demonstrated that the coupled method of finite and dynamic infinite elements can be accurately used to simulate,both physically and computationally,wave propagation in elastic/viscoelastic solids involving infinite domains.Thus,this method provides an advanced scientific tool for dealing with both scientific and engineering problems involving infinite domains. | ZHAO ChongBin1,2 1 Computational Geosciences Research Centre,Central South University,Changsha 410083,China 2 CSIRO Exploration and Mining,Perth 6102,Australia | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,6: | 4 |

| 11 | An Improved Method for Calculating Paleoheat Flow from Vitrinite Reflectance Profiles显示文摘Based on the models developed by Lerche et al. (1984) and Pang et al. (1993), an improved model for calculating paleoheat flow into basins is investigated. The new model is an optimization problem with the state variables governed by a thermal conduction equation. A genetic algorithm is used to solve the highly nonlinear optimization problem. As an application, the model is applied to the research into the history of heat flow in the Pearl River Mouth basin located in the South China Sea. The numerical analysis shows that the simulation results are in good agreement with the measured data and indicates that the basin may have undergone three rifting and thermal events. According to the reconstruction of sedimentary and burial histories for these wells, a relatively large R0 gradient corresponds to a high depositional rate, while a relatively small R0 gradieut represeuts a low depositional rate. In this study, a modiried thermal backstripping model for paleokeat fIow using vitrinite reflectance data has been used to reconstruct paleotbermal history by the linear-segmeut regression. Tke study results indicate that the gentle parts of a IgR0 profile rerlect abnormai periods or high paleoheat flow, in contrast, the steep parts of a IgR0 profile reflect periods of peleoheat flow decay.In order to have an alternative approach and correlative study, an improved two-layer extensional model for the formation and evolution or rifting basin iu pesive contiueutal margin bas been applied. The model simulates basin subsidence process due to stretcbing and thinuing of continental lithospbere and thermal effects by asthenospbere upwelling, and determines the relationship between subsidence and paleoheat flux through the geological time. The simulation results suggest that these basins have undergone two or three rirting and thermal events, and it is clear that the large R0 gradient segment reflects a response to high paleoheat flow during the early, rapid subsidence stage, while the low R. gradient segmeut is a result or the tbermal decay during the thermal subsidence because of thermal contraction of a cooling Iitbospbere.
