8Effects of Resistant Starch on Symptoms,Fecal Markers,and Gut Microbiota in Parkinson’s Disease—The RESISTA-PD Trial显示文摘The composition of the gut microbiota is linked to multiple diseases,including Parkinson’s disease(PD).Abundance of bacteria producing short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs)and fecal SCFA concentrations are reduced in PD.SCFAs exert various beneficial functions in humans.In the interventional,monocentric,open-label clinical trial “Effects of Resistant Starch on Bowel Habits,Short Chain Fatty Acids and Gut Microbiota in Parkinson’s Disease”(RESISTA-PD;ID:NCT02784145),we aimed at altering fecal SCFAs by an 8-week prebiotic intervention with resistant starch(RS).We enrolled 87 subjects in three study-arms:32 PD patients received RS(PD+RS),30 control subjects received RS,and 25 PD patients received solely dietary instructions.We performed paired-end 100 bp length metagenomic sequencing of fecal samples using the BGISEQ platform at an average of 9.9 GB.RS was well-tolerated.In the PD+RS group,fecal butyrate concentrations increased significantly,and fecal calprotectin concentrations dropped significantly after 8 weeks of RS intervention.Clinically,we observed a reduction in non-motor symptom load in the PD+RS group.The reference-based analysis of metagenomes highlighted stable alpha-diversity and beta-diversity across the three groups,including bacteria producing SCFAs.Reference-free analysis suggested punctual,yet pronounced differences in the metagenomic signature in the PD+RS group.RESISTA-PD highlights that a prebiotic treatment with RS is safe and well-tolerated in PD.The stable alpha-diversity and beta-diversity alongside altered fecal butyrate and calprotectin concentrations call for long-term studies,also investigating whether RS is able to modify the clinical course of PD.Anouck Becker Georges Pierre Schmartz Laura Groger Nadja Grammes Valentina Galata Hannah Philippeit Jacqueline Weiland Nicole Ludwig Eckart Meese Sascha Tierling Jorn Walter Andreas Schwiertz Jorg Spiegel Gudrun Wagenpfeil Klaus Faßbender Andreas Keller Marcus M.Unger 2022Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2022,20,2:0

10Studying the stress-suction coupling in soils using an oedometer equipped with a high capacity tensiometer显示文摘In the context of research into deep nuclear waste disposal,various works have concerned the hydromechanical behavior of Boom clay,a stiff plastic clay extracted in the SCK-CEN Underground Research Laboratory near the Mol City(Belgium),at a depth of 223 m.Due to some amount of smectite minerals in the clay fraction,Boom clay exhibits swelling properties when hydrated under low stresses.To investigate some aspects of the hydromechanical behavior of Boom clay,oedometer compression tests were carried out on samples of Boom clay close to saturation and submitted to an initial suction.During oedometer compression,the changes in suction with increased vertical stress are monitored by means of a high capacity tensiometer installed at the bottom of the sample.Some aspects related to hydromechanical couplings are examined through the investigation of the changes in suction during oedometer compression,a somewhat delicate and poorly documented experimental approach.A comparison is also made with a completely different soil sample under suction,i.e.a statically compacted unsaturated low plasticity silt.Some technical difficulties typical of this new experimental approach are first described in detail so as to optimize the interpretation of the data obtained.The experiment allows the determination of the point at which suction is changed to positive pressure during compression.Below this point,the ratio between the vertical stress and the change in suction are determined.Above this point,the data show that positive pore pressures are dissipated in a common way.The suction/stress behavior during unloading is also described and discussed.Finally,an interpretation in terms of microstructure effects is provided for both samples.The experimental approach initiated here seems to provide interesting further application to better understand hydromechanical couplings in natural soils in relation with suction increase during stress release.Trung Tinh LE Yu-Jun CUI Juan Jorge MUÑOZ Pierre DELAGE Anh Minh TANG Xiang-Ling LI 2011Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2011,5,2:0
11Towards an integrative approach to evaluate the environmental ecosystem services provided by urban forest显示文摘As a Nature-Based Solution,urban forests deliver a number of environmental ecosystem services(EESs).To quantify these EESs,well-defined,reliable,quantifiable and stable indicators are needed.With literature analysis and expert knowledge gathered within COST Action FP1204 GreenInUrbs,we proposed a classification of urban forest EESs into three categories:(A)regulation of air,water,soil and climate;(B)provisioning of habitat quality;and(C)provisioning of other goods and services.Each category is divided into EES types:(a)amelioration of air quality;restoration of soil and water;amelioration of the microclimate;removal of CO2 from the air;(b)provision of habitat for biodiversity;support for resilient urban ecosystems;provision of genetic diversity;and(c)provision of energy and nutrients;provision of grey infrastructure resilience.Each EES type provides one or more benefits.For each of these 12 benefits,we propose a set of indicators to be used when analyzing the impacts on the identified EESs.Around half of the 36 indicators are relevant to more than one single benefit,which highlights complex interrelationships.The indicators of wider applicability are tree and stand characteristics,followed by leaf physical traits and tree species composition.This knowledge is needed for the optimization of the EESs delivered by urban forests,now and in the future.Samson Roeland Marco Moretti Jorge Humberto Amorim Cristina Branquinho Silvano Fares Federico Morelli Ulo Niinemets Elena Paoletti Pedro Pinho Gregorio Sgrigna Vladimir Stojanovski Abhishek Tiwary Pierre Sicard Carlo Calfapietra 2019Journal of Forestry Research2019,30,6:0

14新英格兰医学中心后循环登记显示文摘在407例新英格兰医学中心后循环登记患者中,59%为不伴TIA的卒中,24%在卒中前有TIA,16%仅表现为TIA。栓塞是最常见的卒中机制(占40%,其中24%为心源性栓塞,14%为动脉-动脉栓塞,2%两者兼有)。在32%的患者中,大动脉闭塞性损害导致血流动力学性脑缺血。梗死最常出现在后循环远段供血区(脑干腹侧、小脑上部以及枕叶和颞叶),近段(延髓和小脑后下部)和中段(桥脑和小脑前下部)供血区受累的比例相当。148例患者存在至少累及1支大动脉的重度闭塞性损害(狭窄〉50%),134例患者有单侧或双侧动脉受累。最常见的闭塞部位是椎动脉颅外段(52例患者,15例双侧)、椎动脉颅内段(40例患者,12例双侧)和基底动脉(46例患者)。动脉-动脉栓塞是椎动脉闭塞性疾病患者最常见的脑梗死发病机制。30d病死率为3.6%。发病机制为栓塞,远段供血区受累和基底动脉闭塞性疾病患者的预后最差。具有多处动脉狭窄部位的患者转归最好。他们通常经年累月地发生TIA。Louis R. 15Application of novel constrained friction processing method to produce fine grained biomedical Mg-Zn-Ca alloy显示文摘In order to obtain Mg alloys with fine microstructures and high mechanical performances,a novel friction-based processing method,name as“constrained friction processing(CFP)”,was investigated.Via CFP,defect-free Mg-Zn-Ca rods with greatly refined grains and high mechanical properties were produced.Compared to the previous as-cast microstructure,the grain size was reduced from more than 1 mm to around 4μm within 3 s by a single process cycle.The compressive yield strength was increased by 350%while the ultimate compressive strength by 53%.According to the established material flow behaviors by“tracer material”,the plastic material was transported by shear deformation.From the base material to the rod,the material experienced three stages,i.e.deformation by the tool,upward flow with additional tilt,followed by upward transportation.The microstructural evolution was revealed by“stop-action”technique.The microstructural development at regions adjacent to the rod is mainly controlled by twinning,dynamic recrystallization(DRX)as well as particle stimulated nucleation,while that within the rod is related to DRX combined with grain growth.Ting Chen Banglong Fu Junjun Shen Uceu F.H.R.Suhuddin Björn Wiese Yuanding Huang Min Wang Jorge F.dos Santos Jean Pierre Bergmann Benjamin Klusemann 2024Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2024,12,2:0
