1Non-covalent interaction between almond protein and sinapic acid: impact on protein structure and antioxidant activity显示文摘Plant phenolic acids are good sources of antioxidants and sinapic acid(SA)is one of them that can be applied in protein-based food system.However,little research is available regarding interactions between almond protein(AP)and SA.In this study,structure-affinity interaction between SA and AP,structure and antioxidant activity of proteins were investigated.Different mathematical models showed that Ka of binding SA and AP were 3.27×10^4 L/mol and 3.08×10^4 L/mol.CD(Circular dichroism)spectroscopy and FT-IR(Fourier transform infrared)spectroscopy showed that the amount of random coil andα-helix decreased whileβ-sheet increased in AP-SA complex.In combination,the interaction model of AP-SA complex was static quenching and attributed to hydrophobic interaction.Further,AP-SA complex exerted better DPPH radical scavenging ability(36.97±0.78%),ABTS+radical scavenging ability(47.26±0.45%),and higher ORAC value(2.41±0.23 M trolox/g)compared to AP.In the further,SA can be applied in protein matrix to improve film stability,gel strength and restraining fat oxidation degradation.Xiao Jia Xin Ning Wenlin Li Qianchun Deng Xiao Yu Chen Cheng Qi Zhou 2019Oil Crop Science2019,4,4:2
2Microencapsulation of nutmeg essential oil by spray-drying with different wall materials显示文摘Nutmeg essential oil with volatile components is sensitive to oxygen, light, water and high temperature. Spray-drying is widely used as an encapsulation technique for improving compound stability during processing and storage. In this study, influence of encapsulated matrix on spray-dried nutmeg essential oil microcapsule was investigated using blends of maltodextrin and either gum Arabic(GA-MD), or octenyl succinic acid modified starch(OSA-MD) as wall materials. Characteristics of spray-dried powders from these 2 wall materials were evaluated and compared. Powder property analysis indicated that GA-MD microcapsules presented larger size, higher moisture and poorer flowability compared with OSA-MD microcapsules. Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis showed that both GA-MD and OSA-MD microcapsules improved the stability of nutmeg essential oil. However, GA-MD microcapsules exhibited higher storage stability than OSA-MD microcapsules. 3Canolol induces apoptosis in human gastric carcinoma cell through PI3K/Akt signaling pathway显示文摘Canolol is a natural polyphenolic compound in rapeseed oil with multiple biological activities.Anti-cancer potential of canolol has been proposed in some studies.However,the effect and underlying mechanism of canolol on human gastric carcinoma(AGS)cells have not been well understood.This study showed that canolol had significant inhibition in proliferation and strongly apoptotic effects in AGS cells,which were verified by the decrease of cell viability,high level of reactive oxygen species(ROS),and damage in mitochondria membrane potential(MMP).Treatment with canolol arrested cells in S phase,and increased expressions of Bax,cleaved caspase-9,and cleaved caspase-3 proteins.Meanwhile,low expression of Bcl-2 and cytochrome C(Cyt C)release were found.The expressions of PI3K(phosphoinositide 3-kinase)and p-AKT(phosphorylated serine/threonine kinase)were also downregulated.Overall,these results suggested that canolol inhibited proliferation and induced apoptosis in AGS cells by regulating PI3K/Akt pathway,demonstrating a potential in gastric cancer treatment.Ling Han Xiaoyang Xia Qianchun Deng Chang Zheng Zhen Zhang Qiqi Ji Xia Xiang 2019Oil Crop Science2019,4,4:1
4Impact of sesame lignan on physical and oxidative stability of flaxseed oil-in-water emulsion显示文摘Recent studies have shown that the highly susceptibility to oxidation ofα-linolenic acid(ALA)enriched emulsion delivery system was harmful for human health which limited their incorporation into functional food.Impacts of natural sesamol(SOH)and sesamin(SES)on stability of flaxseed oil-in-water emulsion were investigated.Results showed that SOH indicated higher antioxidant activity and significantly prolonged the time of emulsion oil-off by retarding oil droplet aggregation in a dose dependent manner throughout storage.Moreover,SOH showed substantial extended lag phase of lipid oxidation products,especially for secondary oxidation products(thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances,TBARS),with a maximum reduction of 70%with 800 M dosage.The antioxidative efficiency of SOH might relate to its strong ability of scavenging free radical and chelate transition metal.Furthermore,SOH significantly enhanced interfacial barrier property and reduced permeation rate of peroxyl radical across emulsion interface by hydrogen bonds between sugar groups of saponin molecules and SOH.However,no obvious change in barrier property of emulsion was observed in SES.SOH improved physicochemical property of flaxseed oil-in-water emulsion with higher antioxidant activity and stronger interfacial barrier property,so that it could be serve as plant-based antioxidant in oil-in-water emulsion delivery system.Xintian Wang Kun Yu Chen Cheng Xiao Yu David Julian McClements Wenwen Huang Jia Yang Fenghong Huang Qianchun Deng 2019Oil Crop Science2019,4,4:1

6Introduction of Dalbergia odorifera enhances nitrogen absorption on Eucalyptus through stimulating microbially mediated soil nitrogen-cycling显示文摘Background:There is substantial evidence that Eucalyptus for nitrogen(N)absorption and increasing the growth benefit from the introduction of N-fixing species,but the underlying mechanisms for microbially mediated soil N cycling remains unclear.Methods:We investigated the changes of soil pH,soil water content(SWC),soil organic carbon(SOC),total N(TN),inorganic N(NH_(4)^(+)-N and NO_(3)^(-)-N),microbial biomass and three N-degrading enzyme activities as well as the biomass and N productivity of Eucalyptus between a pure Eucalyptus urophylla×grandis plantation(PP)and a mixed Dalbergia odorifera and Eucalyptus plantation(MP)in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,China.Results:Compared with the PP site,soil pH,SWC,SOC and TN in both seasons were significantly higher at the MP site,which in turn enhanced microbial biomass and the activities of soil N-degrading enzymes.The stimulated microbial activity at the MP site likely accelerate soil N mineralization,providing more available N(NH_(4)^(+)-N in both seasons and NO_(3)^(-)-N in the wet-hot season)for Eucalyptus absorption.Overall,the N productivity of Eucalyptus at the MP site was increased by 19.7% and 21.9%,promoting the biomass increases of 15.1% and 19.2% in the drycold season and wet-hot season,respectively.Conclusion:Our results reveal the importance of microbially mediated soil N cycling in the N absorption on Eucalyptus.Introduction of D.odorifera enhances Eucalyptus biomass and N productivity,improve soil N availability and increased soil C and N concentration,which hence can be considered to be an effective sustainable management option of Eucalyptus plantations.Xianyu Yao Qianchun Zhang Haiju Zhou Zhi Nong Shaoming Ye Qi Deng 2021Forest Ecosystems2021,8,4:1
