1An optimized design of seizure detection system using joint feature extraction of multichannel EEG signals显示文摘The detection of seizure onset and events using electroencephalogram(EEG) signals are important tasks in epilepsy research.The literature available on seizure detection has discussed the implementation of advanced signal processing algorithms using tools accessed over the cloud.However,seizure monitoring application needs near sensor processing due to privacy and latency issues.In this paper,a real time seizure detection system has been implemented using an embedded system.The proposed system is based on ensemble empirical mode decomposition(EEMD) and tunable-Q wavelet transform(TQWT) algorithms.The analysis and classification of non-stationary EEG signals require the wavelet transform with high Q-factor.However,direct use of TQWT increases the computational complexity of feature extraction from multivariate EEG signals.In this paper,the first step is to process the signal by using EEMD to obtain 8 intrinsic mode functions(IMFs).The Kraskov(KraEn),sample(SampEn),and permutation(PermEn) entropy features of IMFs are extracted and based on optimum values,and 4 IMFs are decomposed using TQWT.Secondly,centered correntropy(CenCorrEn) features of the 1^(st)and 16^(th) sub-band of TQWT have been used as classifier inputs.The performance of multilayer perceptron neural networks(MLPNN),least squares support vector machine(LSSVM),and random forest(RF) classifiers has been tested on the multichannel EEG data recorded from a local hospital.The RF classifier has produced the highest accuracy of 96.2% in classifying the signals.The proposed scheme has been employed in developing an embedded seizure detection system to assist neurologists in making seizure diagnostic decisions.Dattaprasad Torse Veena Desai Rajashri Khanai 2020The Journal of Biomedical Research2020,34,3:2

4A review of patent literature on the regulation of glucose metabolism by six phytocompounds in the management of diabetes mellitus and its complications显示文摘Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease,typified by hyperglycemia resulting from failures in complex multifactorial metabolic functions,that requires life-long medication.Prolonged uncontrolled hyperglycemia leads to micro-and macro-vascular complications.Although antidiabetic drugs are prescribed as the first-line treatment,many of them lose efficacy over time or have severe side effects.There is a lack of in-depth study on the patents filed concerning the use of natural compounds to manage diabetes.Thus,this patent analysis provides a comprehensive report on the antidiabetic therapeutic activity of 6 phytocompounds when taken alone or in combinations.Four patent databases were searched,and 17,649 patents filed between 2001 and 2021 were retrieved.0f these,139 patents for antidiabetic therapeutic aids that included berberine,curcumin,gingerol,gymnemic acid,gymnemagenin and mangiferin were analyzed.The results showed that these compounds alone or in combinations,targeting acetylcoenzyme A carboxylase 2,serine/threonine protein kinase,α-amylase,α-glucosidase,lipooxygenase,phosphorylase,peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ(PPAR-γ),protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B,PPARγco-activator-1α,phosphoinositide 3-kinase and protein phosphatase 1 regulatory subunit 3C,could regulate glucose metabolism which are validated by pharmacological rationale.Synergism,or combination therapy,including different phytocompounds and plant extracts,has been studied extensively and found effective,whereas the efficacy of commercial drugs in combination with phytocompounds has not been studied in detail.Curcumin,gymnemic acid and mangiferin were found to be effective against diabetes-related complications.Anusree DasNandy Rajashri Virge Harsha V.Hegde Debprasad Chattopadhyay 2023Journal of Integrative Medicine2023,21,3:0
5Phytochemical Loaded Nanovehicles of Biopolymer for Breast Cancer:A Systemic Review显示文摘Background:Breast cancer is one of the most common malignancies affecting women worldwide,emphasizing the need for effective therapeutic strategies.Phytochemicals derived from plants have gained significant attention due to their potential anticancer properties.Objective:This review aims to comprehensively assess the existing literature on using phytochemical-loaded for-mulations as a therapeutic approach for breast cancer.By analyzing the available evidence,we aim to determine the potential benefits and limitations of these formulations in terms of their anticancer activity,bioavailability,and safety.Methods:A systematic search of relevant databases was conducted to identify studies investigating phytochemical-loaded formulations in the context of breast cancer treatment.The inclusion criteria encompassed clinical trials,preclinical studies,and in-vitro experiments that reported using phytochemicals in various formulations for breast cancer treatment.Data extraction was performed to ensure the reliability and validity of the included studies.Results:The review highlights the diverse range of phytochemicals used in different formulations for breast cancer treatment.Findings suggest that these formulations exhibit promising anticancer effects by targeting mul-tiple signaling pathways in breast cancer progression,including cell proliferation,apoptosis,angiogenesis,and metastasis.Moreover,various delivery systems,such as nanoparticles,liposomes,and micelles,have enhanced phytochemicals’bioavailability and targeted delivery.Conclusion:Phytochemical-loaded formulations hold immense potential as a therapeutic approach for breast cancer treatment.The reviewed evidence indicates their ability to inhibit tumor growth,enhance chemotherapy effectiveness,and reduce adverse effects.However,further research is warranted to optimize the formulation strategies,investigate the long-term safety profiles,and conduct large-scale clinical trials to establish their efficacy and applicability in clinical settings.These findings contribute to developing novel phytochemical-based therapies for breast cancer,offering new avenues for personalized and targeted treatment options.Vivek P.Chavda Suneetha Vuppu Rajashri Bezbaruah Lakshmi Vineela Nalla Siva Nageswara Rao Gajula Pankti C.Balar Toshika Mishra Nikita Sharma Sathvika Kamaraj Thushar Suresh Anand Sairam Bedanta Bhattacharjee 2023Clinical Complementary Medicine and Pharmacology2023,3,4:0
