| 1 | Application of artificial neural networks and multivariate statistics to estimate UCS using textural characteristics显示文摘Before any rock engineering project,mechanical parameters of rocks such as uniaxial compressive strength and young modulus of intact rock get measured using laboratory or in-situ tests,but in some situations preparing the required specimens is impossible.By this time,several models have been established to evaluate UCS and E from rock substantial properties.Artificial neural networks are powerful tools which are employed to establish predictive models and results have shown the priority of this technique compared to classic statistical techniques.In this paper,ANN and multivariate statistical models considering rock textural characteristics have been established to estimate UCS of rock and to validate the responses of the established models,they were compared with laboratory results.For this purpose a data set for 44 samples of sandstone was prepared and for each sample some textural characteristics such as void,mineral content and grain size as well as UCS were determined.To select the best predictors as inputs of the UCS models,this data set was subjected to statistical analyses comprising basic descriptive statistics,bivariate correlation,curve fitting and principal component analyses.Results of such analyses have shown that void,ferroan calcitic cement,argillaceous cement and mica percentage have the most effect on USC.Two predictive models for UCS were developed using these variables by ANN and linear multivariate regression.Results have shown that by using simple textural characteristics such as mineral content,cement type and void,strength of studied sandstone can be estimated with acceptable accuracy.ANN and multivariate statistical UCS models,revealed responses with 0.87 and 0.76 regressions,respectively which proves higher potential of ANN model for predicting UCS compared to classic statistical models. | Amin Manouchehrian Mostafa Sharifzadeh Rasoul Hamidzadeh Moghadam | 2012 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2012,22,2: | 13 |

| 4 | Stir casting process for manufacture of Al-SiC composites显示文摘Stir casting is an economical process for the fabrication of aluminum matrix composites.There are many parameters in this process,which affect the final microstructure and mechanical properties of the composites.In this study,micron-sized SiC particles were used as reinforcement to fabricate Al-3 wt% SiC composites at two casting temperatures(680 and 850 ℃) and stirring periods(2 and 6 min).Factors of reaction at matrix/ceramic interface,porosity,ceramic incorporation,and agglomeration of the particles were evaluated by scanning electron microscope(SEM) and high-resolution transition electron microscope(HRTEM) studies.From microstructural characterizations,it is concluded that the shorter stirring period is required for ceramic incorporation to achieve metal/ceramic bonding at the interface.The higher stirring temperature(850 ℃) also leads to improved ceramic incorporation.In some cases,shrinkage porosity and intensive formation of Al_4C_3 at the metal/ceramic interface are also observed.Finally,the mechanical properties of the composites were evaluated,and their relation with the corresponding microstructure and processing parameters of the composites was discussed. | Shahin Soltani Rasoul Azari Khosroshahi Reza Taherzadeh Mousavian Zheng-Yi Jiang Alireza Fadavi Boostani Dermot Brabazon | 2017 | Rare Metals2017,36,7: | 7 |
| 5 | Radiation-induced inflammation and autoimmune diseases显示文摘Currently,ionizing radiation(IR)plays a key role in the agricultural and medical industry,while accidental exposure resulting from leakage of radioactive sources or radiological terrorism is a serious concern.Exposure to IR has various detrimental effects on normal tissues.Although an increased risk of carcinogenesis is the best-known long-term consequence of IR,evidence has shown that other diseases,particularly diseases related to inflammation,are common disorders among irradiated people.Autoimmune disorders are among the various types of immune diseases that have been investigated among exposed people.Thyroid diseases and diabetes are two autoimmune diseases potentially induced by IR.However,the precise mechanisms of IR-induced thyroid diseases and diabetes remain to be elucidated,and several studies have shown that chronic increased levels of inflammatory cytokines after exposure play a pivotal role.Thus,cytokines,including interleukin-1(IL-1),tumor necrosis factor(TNF-α)and interferon gamma(IFN-α),play a key role in chronic oxidative damage following exposure to IR.Additionally,these cytokines change the secretion of insulin and thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH).It is likely that the management of inflammation and oxidative damage is one of the best strategies for the amelioration of these diseases after a radiological or nuclear disaster.In the present study,we reviewed the evidence of radiation-induced diabetes and thyroid diseases,as well as the potential roles of inflammatory responses.In addition,we proposed that the mitigation of inflammatory and oxidative damage markers after exposure to IR may reduce the incidence of these diseases among individuals exposed to radiation. | Rasoul Yahyapour Peyman Amini Saeed Rezapour Mohsen Cheki Abolhasan Rezaeyan Bagher Farhood Dheyauldeen Shabeeb Ahmed Eleojo Musa Hengameh Fallah Masoud Najafi | 2018 | Military Medical Research2018,5,1: | 7 |
| 6 | 16例脑结核瘤抗结核治疗系列观察显示文摘目的:报告16例颅内结核瘤患者的临床、影像学表现及抗结核治疗的结果。设计:本文共纳入苏丹Khartoun市全国神经系统疾病中心连续观察的16例脑结核瘤患者。诊断则依据其临床、头颅影像学特征及对抗结核治疗有效等方面。本组中共有7例具有脑组织或脑外组织的病理组织学资料。结果与结论:本组病例最常见的临床表现是头痛(100%)、全身性抽搐(68.7%)及偏瘫(56.2%)。头颅横断面电子计算机体层摄影(CT)/核磁共振成像(MRI)显示单个或多个明显增强的病变及病灶周围水肿。经抗结核治疗后,多数存活患者(13/15)病变完全吸收。病变部分吸收与就诊延迟、颅内多个大病灶及晚期粟粒性结核病有关。我们主张对颅内结核瘤,即使是拟诊病例,应早期经验性试用抗结核治疗,尤其在结核病高发地区。 | M. | 11 | Simplified microsatellite instability detection protocol provides equivalent sensitivity to robust detection strategies in Lynch syndrome patients显示文摘Objective:Germline mutations in mismatch repair(MMR)genes cause Lynch syndrome(LS).LS is an inherited disease,and an important consequence of MMR deficiency is microsatellite instability(MSI)phenotype.MSI phenotype influences the efficacy of5 fluorouracil(5-FU)chemotherapy.Reproducible,cost effective,and easy to perform laboratory tests are required to include MSI detection in routine laboratory practice.Evaluation of CAT25 as monomorphic short tandem repeat sequence enables CAT25 to be an efficient screening tool among hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer(HNPCC)patients compared with other methods used currently.Methods:Based on Amsterdam II criteria,31 patients in 31 families were shortlisted from a total number of 1,659 colorectal cancer patients.MSI status was examined in these patients using CAT25 and a commercially available Promega MSI five-markerbased detection system as well as immunohistochemical(IHC)staining of four important MMR proteins.Patients were scored as high microsatellite instable(MSI-H),low(MSI-L),or stable(MSS).MSI status determined by CAT25 single mononucleotide marker was compared with that of five mononucleotide markers,Promega commercial kit,and IHC method.Results:MMR protein deficiency was observed on 7/31 probands using IHC methodology and 6/31 categorized as MSI-H using commercial kit or CAT25 single marker.The sensitivity and specificity of the CAT25 single marker were the same as those detected by five-marker Promega commercial kit in our patients.Conclusions:Based on our results,the performance of the CAT25 single mononucleotide marker for MSI status determination in our HNPCC patients is the same as that of the five-marker-based commercial kit. | Hadi Babaei Mehrdad Zeinalian Mohammad Hassan Emami Mortaza Hashemzadeh Najmeh Farahani Rasoul Salehi | 2017 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2017,14,2: | 3 |
| 12 | 在3,4-二羟基肉桂酸介质中以多壁碳纳米管为传感器电催化检测L-半胱氨酸(英文)显示文摘A highly sensitive electrochemical sensor was prepared for the determination of L-cysteine using a modified multiwall carbon nanotubes paste electrode in the presence of 3,4-dihydroxycinnamic acid(3,4-DHCA) as a mediator, based on an electrocatalytic process. The results indicate that the electrode is electrocatalytically efficient for the oxidation of L-cysteine in the presence of 3,4-DHCA. The interaction between the mediator and L-cysteine can be used for its sensitive and selective determination. Using chronoamperometry, the catalytic reaction rate constant was calculated to be 2.37 × 102 mol–1 L s–1. The catalytic peak current was linearly dependent on the L-cysteine concentration in the range of 0.4–115 μmol/L. The detection limit obtained by linear sweep voltammetry was 0.25 μmol/L. | 13 | Manufacturing of cast A356 matrix composite reinforced with nano- to micrometer-sized SiC particles显示文摘In this study, large micron-sized Si C particles were fragmented via ball-milling process in the presence of iron and nickel powders, separately, to fabricate composite powders of Fe–Si C and Ni–Si C. Continuous fracturing of brittle Si C powders leads to the formation of multi-modalsized Si C powders with size of from 50 nm to slightly higher than 10 lm after 36-h ball milling. The milled powders were then incorporated into the semisolid melt of A356 aluminum alloy to ease the incorporation of fine Si C particles by using iron and nickel as their carrier agents.The final as-cast composites were then extruded at 500 °C with a reduction ratio of 9:1. Lower-sized composite powders with slight agglomeration are obtained for the36-h milled Ni–Si C mixture compared to that of Fe–Si C powders, leading to incorporation of Si C particles into the melt with a lower size and suitable distribution for the Ni–Si C mixture. It is found that lower-sized composite particles could release the fine Si C particles into the melt more easily, while large agglomerated composite particles almost remain in its initial form, resulting in sites of stress concentration and low-strength aluminum matrix composites. | 14 | Resistance status of main malaria vector, Liston (Diptera:Culicidae) to insecticides in a malaria Endemic Area,Southern Iran显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the susceptibility of Anopheles stephensi(An. stephensi) Liston, the main malaria vector in southern Iran, to WHO recommended insecticides. Methods: Larvae of An. stephensi were collected from three different larval habitats in both urban and rural area of Bandar Abbas city and one rural area in Rudan county southern Iran. WHO standard method was used for evaluation of adult and larval mosquito susceptibility. Bendiocarb, permethrin, lambda-cyhalothrin, deltamethrin as insecticide and temephos and chlorpyriphos as larvicide were used at the diagnostic dosages recommended by WHO. Results: Findings of this study showed all larval populations of An. stephensi were completely susceptible to temephos and candidate for resistance to chlorpyriphos. Adult mosquitoes in rural areas of Bandar Abbas city were resistant to pyrethroid and carbamate insecticides. Conclusion: Comparison of the results of this survey with previous studies indicates that the resistance to pyrethroids and carbamates in this malaria endemic region is increasing. Wide use of pesticides in agriculture is certainly effective in increasing resistance. | 16 | Hydrocarbon Vertical Continuity Evaluation in the Cretaceous Reservoirs of Azadegan Oilfield, Southwest of Iran: Implications for Reservoir Geochemistry显示文摘A collection of data obtained from analytical methods in geochemistry along with the reservoir engineering and geologic data were used to investigate the reservoir continuity in the Cretaceous Fahliyan, Gadavan, Kazhdumi and Sarvak reservoirs of the super-giant Azadegan oilfield, SW Iran. The geochemical data indicate that the oil samples, with medium to high level of thermal maturity, have been generated from the anoxic marine marl/carbonate source rock(s). The Sargelu(Jurassic) and Garau(Cretaceous) formations are introduced as the main source rocks for the studied oils. The dendrogram obtained from the cluster analysis of high-resolution gas chromatography data introduces two main oil groups including Fahliyan reservoir, and Kazhdumi along with Sarvak/Gadvan reservoirs. This is confirmed by C7 Halpern star diagram, indicating that, the light oil fraction from Fahliyan reservoir is distinct from the others. Also, different pressure gradient of the Fahliyan Formation(over-pressured) relative to other reservoirs(normally-pressured) show the presence of compartments. The relation between toluene/n-heptane and n-heptane/methylcyclohexane represents the compartmentalization due to maturation/evaporative fractionation for Fahliyan and water washing for other studied reservoirs. | 18 | Dissociation of polar oil components in low salinity water and its impact on crude oil-brine interfacial interactions and physical properties显示文摘Despite many efforts into the study of fluids interaction in low salinity water flooding, they are not probing the basics of transport phenomena between the involved phases. This work is aimed to bring new understanding of fluid-fluid interaction during low salinity water flooding through a series of organized experiments in which a crude oil sample with known properties was kept in contact with different brine solutions of various ionic strengths. Measuring brine pH, conductivity and crude oil viscosity and density for a period of 45 days illustrates the strong effect of the contact time and ionic strength on the dissociation of polar components and physical properties of the crude oil and brine. Besides, the interfacial tension(IFT) measurements show that the interfacial interactions are affected by several competitive interfacial processes. By decreasing the ionic strength of the brine, the solubility of naphthenic acids in the aqueous solution increases, and hence,the conductivity and the pH of the aqueous phase decrease. To verify this important finding, UV-Vis spectroscopy and 'H NMR analysis were also performed on aged brine samples. | 20 | Analgesic effect of paracetamol combined with low- dose morphine versus morphine alone on patients with biliary colic: a double blind, randomized controlled trial显示文摘BACKGROUND:Numerous drugs have been proposed to alleviate pain in patients with biliary colic,especially opioids,but still there is a tendency to use less narcotics because of their side effects and the unwillingness of some patients.The present study aimed to compare the analgesic effect of paracetamol combined with low-dose morphine versus morphine alone in patients with biliary colic.METHODS:A randomized double-blind controlled trial was performed in 98 patients with biliary colic,recruited from two emergency departments from August 2012 to August 2013.Eleven patients were excluded and the remaining were randomized into two groups:group A received 0.05mg/kg morphine+1 000 mg paracetamol in 100 m L normal saline and group B received 0.1 mg/kg morphine+normal saline(100 m L)as placebo.Pain scores were recorded using visual analogue scale(VAS)at baseline and 15 and 30 minutes after drug administration.Adverse effects and the need for rescue medication(0.75 g/kg intravenous fentanyl)were also reported within 60 minutes of drug administration.RESULTS:Before the infusion,the mean±SD VAS scores were 8.73±1.57 in group A and8.53±1.99 in group B.At 15 minutes after drug administration,the mean±SD VAS scores were2.16±1.90 in group A vs.2.51±1.86 in group B;mean difference was–0.35,and 95%CI–1.15 to 0.45(P=0.38).At 30 minutes the mean±SD VAS scores were 1.66±1.59 in group A vs.2.14±1.79 in group B;mean difference was–0.48,and 95%CI–1.20 to 0.24(P=0.19).The mean pain scores in the two groups at 15 and 30 minutes demonstrated no significant difference.CONCLUSION:Paracetamol combined with low-dose morphine may be effective for pain management in patients with biliary colic. | Mohammad Reza Farnia Rasoul Babaei Farzaneh Shirani Mehdi Momeni Majid Hajimaghsoudi Elnaz Vahidi Morteza Saeedi | 2016 | World Journal of Emergency Medicine2016,7,1: | 2 |
