A closed-loop process for recycling LiNi_xCo_yMn_((1-x-y))O_2 from mixed cathode materials of lithium-ion batteries显示文摘With the rapid development of consumer electronics and electric vehicles(EV), a large number of spent lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) have been generated worldwide. Thus, effective recycling technologies to recapture a significant amount of valuable metals contained in spent LIBs are highly desirable to prevent the environmental pollution and resource depletion. In this work, a novel recycling technology to regenerate a LiNi_(1/3)Co_(1/3)Mn_(1/3)O_2 cathode material from spent LIBs with different cathode chemistries has been developed. By dismantling, crushing, leaching and impurity removing, the LiNi_(1/3)Co_(1/3)Mn_(1/3)O_2(selected as an example of LiNi_xCo_yMn_(1-x-y)O_2) powder can be directly prepared from the purified leaching solution via co-precipitation followed by solid-state synthesis. For comparison purposes, a fresh-synthesized sample with the same composition has also been prepared using the commercial raw materials via the same method. X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and electrochemical measurements have been carried out to characterize these samples. The electrochemical test result suggests that the re-synthesized sample delivers cycle performance and low rate capability which are comparable to those of the freshsynthesized sample. This novel recycling technique can be of great value to the regeneration of a pure and marketable LiNi_xCo_yMn_(1-x-y)O_2 cathode material with low secondary pollution. | Rujuan Zheng Wenhui Wang Yunkun Dai Quanxin Ma Yuanlong Liu Deying Mu Ruhong Li Jie Rena Changsong Dai | 2017 | Green Energy & Environment2017,2,1: | 11

What does complement do in Alzheimer’s disease? Old molecules with new insights显示文摘Increasing evidence suggests that inflammatory and immune components in brain are important in Alzheimer’s disease(AD)and anti-inflammatory and immunotherapeutic approaches may be amenable to AD treatment. It is known that complement activation occurs in the brain of patients with AD,and contributes to a local inflammatory state development which is correlated with cognitive impairment. In addition to the complement’s critical role in the innate immune system recognizing and killing,or targeting for destruction, complement proteins can also interact with cell surface receptors to promote a local inflammatory response and contributes to the protection and healing of the host.On the other hand, complement activation also causes inflammation and cell damage as an essential immune function to eliminate cell debris and potentially toxic protein aggregates. It is the balance of these seemingly competing events that influences the ultimate state of neuronal function. Our mini review will be focusing on the unique molecular interactions happening in the AD development, the functional outcomes of those interactions,as well as the contribution of each element to AD. | Yong Shen Libang Yang Rena Li | 2013 | Translational Neurodegeneration2013,2,1: | 3
| Rena Li | 2014 | Journal of Sport and Health Science2014,3,3: | 2
通过临床试验我们能从运动与阿尔茨海默症中了解什么?(英文)显示文摘Alzheimer's disease(AD) is the most common form of dementia in elderly with major symptoms of a general term for memory loss and other intellectual abilities impairment which are serious enough to interfere with daily life. While there is no treatment can prevent and revise the cognitive function impairment in AD,physical activity becomes a potential beneficia intervention for AD.Multiple evidences suggested that exercise in general plays beneficia roles in improving brain function. Most common mechanisms of exercise-induced enhancement of brain function are including alteration of neurogenesis, neuron plasticity, neuronal signaling and receptors,as well as neuronal networks. This mini review includes most recent clinical studies and focuses on the effects of physical exercise, cognitive stimulation, and combination of both physical and cognitive training on protection and rescue cognitive decline in people with AD. | Yong Shen Rena Li | 2016 | Journal of Sport and Health Science2016,5,4: | 1

Diagnostic Accuracy of the Malnutrition Screening Tool (MST) in Adult Cancer Patients: a Systematic Literature Review and Meta-Analysis显示文摘Objective According to literature, cancer patients have the highest incidence of malnutrition among hospital patients(40%-80%).Despite this high prevalence, this condition is still under-diagnosed.The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic literature review and meta-analysis to assess the diagnostic performance of the Malnutrition Screening Tool(MST),a simple tool that can be applied in a busy setting where a comprehensive assessment at screening would be impractical. Methods PubMed,EMBASE and Cochrane central register of controlled trials were systematically searched to identify records relevant to the research question. The QUADAS-2 was used to assess the quality of each included study and the meta-analysis was conducted using the hierarchical bivariate model in STATA.Results Seven records were included in this study and the overall sensitivity specificity, diagnostic odds ratio(DOR).The pooled sensitivity and specificity generated after the meta-analysis in STATA were 0.78(95%CI:0.64-0.88)and 0.82(95%CI:0.76-0.87),respectively.The corresponding DOR was 16.33(95%CI:7.08-37.67).The positive likelihood ratio(LR+)was+4.39(95%CI:3.02-6.38),and the negative likelihood ratio(LR-)were 0.27(95%CI:0.16-0.47)and the 1/LR-3.72(2.14-6.46).Conclusion These results showed that the MST provides weak diagnostic evidence when used to screen for malnutrition in adult cancer patients. | Rena Nakyeyune Xiao Li Ruan Yi Shen Yi Shao Chen Niu Zhao Ping Zang Fen Liu | 2021 | Journal of Nutritional Oncology2021,6,1: | 1

Effect of γ phase on mechanical behavior and detwinning evolution of directionally solidified Ni-Mn-Ga alloys under uniaxial compression显示文摘Specimens with single-phase martensite, net-like γ/martensite mixed structure and lamella-likeγ/martensite mixed structure were designed to investigate the effect of the γ phase on the mechanical behavior and the detwinning of non-modulated(NM) martensitic variant in Ni-rich Ni-Mn-Ga alloys under uniaxial compression. It can be found the existence of the γ phase significantly enhances the compressive stresses, and the net-like γ phase specimen presents a higher value of compressive strain than that of the lamella-like γ phase specimen. Especially, the detwinning plateau of the lamella-like γ phase specimen is almost invisible due to the martensite colonies with low Schmid factors. Finally, according to the calculation of deformation gradient tensor, we found that the tensors along compression direction(εzz) of net-like γ phase/martensite mixed structure specimen and single-phase martensite specimen are lower than that of the specimen with lamella-like γ phase/martensite mixed structure, which well explained the detwinning strain for these specimens. The present study not only highlights the role ofγ phase on the mechanical behavior, but also provides more guidelines for the mechanical training of Ni-Mn-Ga shape memory alloys. | Ying Niu Yue Wang Long Hou Lansong Ba Yanchao Dai Yves Fautrelle Zongbin Li Zhongming Rena Xi Li | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,7: | 0
Mini review: linkage between α-Synuclein protein and cognition显示文摘α-synuclein is a protein that plays important roles in cognitive function in the normal brain, although its exact role is not fully understood. However, current studies reveal that defects inα-synuclein function could contribute to various neurodegenerative disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease(PD),a disease with symptomatic progression of deterioration in motor and cognitive function.Recent studies show that the level ofα-synuclein in cerebrospinal fluid(CSF)is highly correlated with speed of cognitive decline, suggesting a potential role ofα-synuclein in cognitive function. In this mini review,we will be focus on literatures ofα-synuclein in cognitive function in the non-diseased brain,as well as the impact that defectiveα-synuclein has on cognition in disease brain. This will be accomplished by assessing the effects of solubleα-synuclein,α-synuclein oligomers, and extracellularα-synuclein transport,on neurodegeneration. | Huda Saleh Ayeh Saleh Hailan Yao Jie Cui Yong Shen Rena Li | 2015 | Translational Neurodegeneration2015,4,1: | 0

Effect of fertility history and parity on Alzheimer’s disease:a mini review from animal to human studies显示文摘More women than men have Alzheimer's disease(AD)or other dementias. There are a number of potential biological and social reasons for the sex difference in the risk of AD,such as women live longer than men on average, and estrogen depletion after menopause in women, biological or genetic variations, and education, occupation or rates of heart disease.Recent studies showed a link between reproductive history and dementia risk in women.Women with fertility history showed lower risk of dementia compared to women with no child.Other studies also suggested that women's pregnancy history may influence AD's risk.In this review,we will focus on the relationship between women fertility and cognition and discuss the potential role of sex hormones in the brain and cognition, especially on AD pathogenesis. | Zhongrong Zhang Zuoli Sun Yuhong Li Rena Li | 2018 | Journal of Translational Neuroscience2018,3,2: | 0
A review of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase in one-carbon metabolism and psychiatric disorders显示文摘Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase(MTHFR)is a key enzyme for the critical process of one-carbon circulation, which convert5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate to5-methyltetrahydrofolate and participate in folate and homocysteine conversion correlated to methyl group supply. The enzyme activity decline depends on the gene polymorphism.MTHFR impacts on the methylation process which is related to psychiatric diseases.Studies have shown association between MTHFR gene polymorphisms and mental disorders, some of which stratified by folate and cobalamin levels. In this review,we will summarize the testimony on the relationship between methylation and MTHFR polymorphism as well as the implication on psychiatric diseases by MTHFR mutation. | Lin Wan Rena Li | 2018 | Journal of Translational Neuroscience2018,3,2: | 0
Women's health in exercise and aging:What do we know?显示文摘Recent articles published in Nature point out how sex bias, primarily concerning male-exclusivity,in biological research result in misleading and ambiguous science.1-4 For example, the majority of animal studies published in academic journals used only males, while only very limited studies were investigated in females or both sexes. The consequences of such male-favored sex bias in biomedical studies had lead to a huge cost in the biomedical industry including drug development.Between 1997and 2001,eight out of 10 prescription drugs were withdrawn from the market by the US FDA because they showed more side | Rena Li | 2014 | Journal of Sport and Health Science2014,3,3: | 0
