17泰塔丘陵的残存森林:日趋消失的世界遗产显示文摘位于肯尼亚东南部(03°20′S,38°15′E)的泰塔丘陵森林复合体形成东阿尔克山(Eastrn Arc Mountains)最北端的地貌,与萨加拉及基萨加山一起,成为唯一能代表肯尼亚地质结构的场所,泰塔丘陵南部的东阿尔克山其它部分,包括巴里、乌桑巴拉山、乌卢古鲁山、恩古鲁山、鲁贝霍山(乌萨加拉)、乌资哥哇(Udzungwa)以及马亨盖山都在坦桑尼亚境内,东阿尔克山为古老的水晶断层埠山体,断层产生的时间可追溯到距今2.9亿-1.8亿年,这些山系的古老面貌与久远的隔离历史体现在独特动物植物区系上,这一区域内具有罕见的高水平的特有种属,在东阿尔克山,大约20000种植物中有25%-30%为特有种[1]。这些物种也体现了东非沿海森林高水平的特有分布现象,综合这些因素,这些区域被视主国世界上25个顶尖生物我样性“热点地区”之一。出于其独特性和作为就地生物基因库的价值,这些地方理应加以保护[2]。由于泰塔丘陵仅残留小片的森林,所以迫切需要有关的保护措施[3]。该地区物种水平的特有分布记录包括13种植物、3种鸟、1种蛇、3种蛙、1种猴子和3种蝴蝶[2-5]。泰塔丘陵还形成当地尤其是沃伊河的一个重要水源涵养区。周立志 Lucie Rogo Nicholas Oguge 2000AMBIO-人类环境杂志2000,29,8:0
