| 1 | Enhancing the efficiency of nitrogen removing bacterial population to a wide range of C:N ratio(1.5:1 to 14:1)for simultaneous C&N removal显示文摘High C:N ratio in the wastewater limits biological nitrogen removal(BNR),especially in anammox based technologies.The present study attempts to improve the COD tolerance of the BNR process by associating methanogens with nitrogen removing bacterial(NRB)populations.The new microbial system coined as‘Methammox’,was investigated for simultaneous removal of COD(C)and ammonia(N)at C:N ratio 1.5:1 to 14:1.The ammonia removal rate(11.5 mg N/g VSS/d)and the COD removal rates(70.6 mg O/g VSS/d)of Methammox was close to that of the NRB(11.1 mg N/g VSS/d)and the methanogenic populations(77.9 mg O/g VSS/d),respectively.The activities established that these two populations existed simultaneously and independently in‘Methammox’.Further studies in biofilm reactor fetched a balanced COD and ammonia removal(55%–60%)at a low C:N ratio(£2:1)and high C:N ratio(≥9:1).The population abundance of methanogens was reasonably constant,but the nitrogen removal shifted from mixotrophy to heterotrophy as the C:N ratio shifted from low(C:N£2:1)to high(C:N≥9:1).The reduced autotrophic NRB(ammonia-and nitrite-oxidizing bacteria and Anammox)population at a high C:N ratio was compensated by the fermentative group that could carry out denitrification heterotrophically.The functional plasticity of the Methammox system to adjust to a broad C:N ratio opens new frontiers in biological nitrogen removal of high COD containing wastewaters. | Shaswati Saha Rohan Gupta Shradhanjali Sethi Rima Biswas | 2022 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2022，16，8： | 0 |
| 2 | Transfer Learning Model to Indicate Heart Health Status Using Phonocardiogram显示文摘The early diagnosis of pre-existing coronary disorders helps to control complications such as pulmonary hypertension,irregular cardiac functioning,and heart failure.Machine-based learning of heart sound is an efficient technology which can help minimize the workload of manual auscultation by automatically identifying irregular cardiac sounds.Phonocardiogram(PCG)and electrocardiogram(ECG)waveforms provide the much-needed information for the diagnosis of these diseases.In this work,the researchers have converted the heart sound signal into its corresponding repeating pattern-based spectrogram.PhysioNet 2016 and PASCAL 2011 have been taken as the benchmark datasets to perform experimentation.The existing models,viz.MobileNet,Xception,Visual Geometry Group(VGG16),ResNet,DenseNet,and InceptionV3 of Transfer Learning have been used for classifying the heart sound signals as normal and abnormal.For PhysioNet 2016,DenseNet has outperformed its peer models with an accuracy of 89.04 percent,whereas for PASCAL 2011,VGG has outperformed its peer approaches with an accuracy of 92.96 percent. | Vinay Arora Karun Verma Rohan Singh Leekha Kyungroul Lee Chang Choi Takshi Gupta Kashish Bhatia | 2021 | Computers, Materials & Continua2021，，12： | 0 |
| 3 | First contact investigations and compliance to treatment in patients with uveitis显示文摘AIM:To ascertain the pattern of investigations at first contact in uveitic patients and evaluate compliance to treatment.METHODS:An observational study comprised of 201 uveitic patients presenting for the first time to our centre from January 2019 to June 2020.Detailed information regarding systemic investigations undertaken by specialists at the time of first contact and the cost of these investigations were reviewed on the first visit to our centre.Compliance with the treatment was determined and reasons behind non-compliance were evaluated on the first follow-up in patients who had no improvement in clinical signs and symptoms.RESULTS:The mean age of the study group was 35.35±14.1y and gender composition was 59.7%males and 40.3%females.Anterior uveitis was observed in 45.3%of patients,intermediate uveitis in 31.8%of patients,posterior uveitis in 14.9%of patients and panuveitis in 8.0%of patients.Association with a systemic disease was evident in 17.9%of patients.When compared with standard guidelines and uveitis patterns,systemic investigations were identified to be relevant only in 38.3%of patients.Non-compliance to treatment was documented in 22.4%of patients.Common reasons for non-compliance were inadequate counselling by the treating physician about treatment in 26.7%of patients and a busy schedule at work/school in 22.2%of patients.CONCLUSION:Significant number of investigations performed at first contact is found to be contrary to standard guidelines and are not contributory to the care.About a quarter of patients in this study are found to be non-compliant with the treatment.Compliance is more challenging to achieve in school-going children and working adults.The availability of comprehensive,periodically updated,evidence-based guidelines on the role of investigations and the use of trained counsellors may help to channelize proper evaluation and improve compliance to treatment,respectively,in patients with uveitis. | Anuja Patil Sanjeev Gupta Pradeep Venkatesh Mousumi Banerjee Vinod Kumar Rohan Chawla Shorya Vardhan Azad Atul Kumar | 2023 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2023，16，11： | 0 |
| 4 | Severe IgA vasculitis with features of remitting seronegative symmetrical synovitis with pitting edema (RS3PE) syndrome in a 60‐year‐old male treated with plasmapheresis显示文摘Objective:To explore a possible association between systemic immunoglobulin A(IgA)vasculitis and RS3PE syndrome and to investigate specific treatment regimens for adults who present with IgA vasculitis with renal involvement.Methods:The patient was treated with plasmapheresis and fresh frozen plasma(FFP)every other day with 1g methylprednisolone daily for three days followed by oral prednisone taper.Mycophenolate mofetil twice daily and trimethoprim‐sulfamethoxazole for Pneumocystis jirovecii prophylaxis was started.In total the patient received two cycles of plasmapheresis and fresh frozen plasma.Results:The patient's renal function drastically improved with resolution of both abdominal pain and nausea.Conclusion:We illustrate a possible association between systemic IgA vasculitis and RS3PE syndrome,and this case demonstrates IgA vasculitis with renal involvement that acutely resolved with high‐dose glucocorticoids and plasmapheresis.Additionally,our specific treatment regimen can be a potential standard of care for adults who present with IgA vasculitis with renal involvement. | Shawn Mathew Rohan Goyal Nealansh Gupta Rauno Joks | 2022 | Rheumatology & Autoimmunity2022，2，2： | 0 |
