| 1 | Thermodynamic study and methanothermal temperature-programmed reaction synthesis of molybdenum carbide显示文摘Nanostructured molybdenum carbide(Mo_2C) was successfully prepared from molybdenum trioxide(MoO _3) using methanothermal temperature-programmed reaction. Thermodynamic analysis indicated that in presence of methane, the formation of Mo_2 C from MoO _3 occurs through the path of MoO _3 → MoO _2 → Mo_2 C. The carburized MoO _3 was characterized using X-ray diffraction(XRD), CHNS/O analysis, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller(BET) analysis, and field-emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM). At final carburization temperatures of 700 and 800°C and at methane contents ranging from 5vol% to 20vol%, Mo_2 C was the only solid product observed in the XRD patterns. The results indicated that the effect of methane content on the formation of the carbide phase is substantial compared with the effect of carburization time. Elemental analysis showed that at a final temperature of 700°C, the carbon content of carburized MoO _3 is very close to the theoretical carbon mass percentage in Mo_2 C. At higher carburization temperatures, excess carbon was deposited onto the surface of Mo_2 C. | 2 | Differential reactivity of mouse monoclonal anti-HBs antibodies with recombinant mutant HBs antigens显示文摘AIM: To investigate the reactivity of a panel of 8 mouse anti-hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) using a collection of 9 recombinant HBsAg mutants with a variety of amino acid substitutions mostly located within the “a” region.METHODS: The entire HBs genes previously cloned into a mammalian expression vector were transiently transfected into COS7 cells. Two standard unmutated sequences of the ayw and adw subtypes served as controls. Secreted mutant proteins were collected and measured by three commercial diagnostic immunoassays to assess transfection efficiency. Reactivity of anti-HBs mAbs with mutated HBsAgs was determined by sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).RESULTS: Reactivity of anti-HBs mAbs with mutated HBsAgs revealed different patterns. While three mutants reacted strongly with all mAbs, two mutants reacted weakly with only two mAbs and the remaining proteins displayed variable degrees of reactivity towards different mAbs. Accordingly, four groups of mAbs with different but overlapping reactivity patterns could be envisaged. One group consisting of two mAbs (37C5-S7 and 35C6-S11) was found to recognize stable linear epitopes conserved in all mutants. | 3 | Ethics Aware Object Oriented Smart City Architecture显示文摘A novel initiative in providing advanced civic amenities is the idea of smart city driven by the Internet of Things. Owing to a lack of consensus regarding what constitutes a smart city,diverse smart city architectures have been proposed. However,it is observed that adequate consideration is not given to the most important element of a smart city i.e. its people. In our opinion,energy efficient technologically driven city does not necessarily lead to a smart city. Ethics,tradition and law form essential ingredients of complex social palette that cannot be ignored. In this work we propose Ethics-Aware Object-Oriented Smart City Architecture(EOSCA)that has two distinguishing features. Firstly,we propose an object oriented layered architecture where an object represents an abstraction of a real world thing along with requisite security and ethics parameters. Secondly,we propose to integrate socio-cultural and ethical aspects within the smart city architecture by dedicating a separate ethics layer. Such enhancement not only addresses the challenge of privacy and security of a smart city,but also makes it people friendly by incorporating ethics.
