| 1 | Does strict environmental regulation enhance the global value chains position of China's industrial sector?显示文摘Given the vital importance of global value chains(GVCs)position for a country's international competitiveness,this paper tries to investigate the impacts of environmental regulation on the GVCs position of China's industrial sector.Using the latest value-added decomposition method,we first measure the GVCs position of China's industrial sector from 2003 to 2014.Subsequently,both two-stage least squares(2 SLS)method with panel data and mediating effect model are employed to empirically examine the effects of environmental regulation on China's position in GVCs.The results indicate that environmental regulation has significantly upgraded the GVCs position of China's industrial sector,and the effect is more evident for the sub-sectors with originally lower GVCs position.The mediation effect test shows that increasing R&D investment is an important channel through which environmental regulation affects the GVCs position of China's industrial sector,which verifies the existence of the Porter hypothesis.Further analysis finds that the enhancement of GVCs position of China's industrial sector caused by environmental regulation is mainly achieved through reducing the backward GVCs position. | Jin-Chao Wang Zhi-Da Jin Mian Yang Sameen Naqvi | 2021 | Petroleum Science2021,18,6: | 2 |

| 4 | Effects of bismuth on structural and dielectric properties of cobalt-cadmium spinel ferrites fabricated via micro-emulsion route显示文摘Spinel ferrites have a significant role in high-tech applications.In the present work nano-crystalline ferrites having general formula Co0.5Cd0.5BixFe2-xO4 with(x=0.0,0.05,0.1,0.15,0.2,and 0.25)are synthesized via micro-emulsion route.Powder x-ray diffraction(XRD)studies discover the FCC spinel structure.Crystalline size is calculated in a range of 11 nm-15 nm.Lattice parameter calculations are reduced due to its substitution which leads to the exchange of large ionic radius of Fe^3+for small ionic radius of Bi^3+.The x-ray density is analyzed to increase with doping.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)is performed to analyze absorption band spectra.The two absorption bands are observed in a range of 400 cm^-1-600 cm^-1,and they are the characteristic feature of spinel structure.Thermo-gravimetric analysis(TGA)reveals the total weight loss of nearly 1.98%.Dielectric analysis is carried out by impedance analyzer in a frequency span from 1 MHz to 3 GHz by using the Maxwell Wagner model.Dielectric studies reveal the decrease of dielectric parameters.The alternating current(AC)conductivity exhibits a plane behavior in a low frequency range and it increases with the applied frequency increasing.This is attributed to the grain effects in a high frequency range or may be due to the reduction of porosity.Real and imaginary part of impedance show the decreasing trend which corresponds to the grain boundary action.The imaginary modulus shows the occurrence of peak that helps to understand the interfacial polarization.Cole-Cole graph shows a single semicircle which confirms that the conduction mechanism is due to the grain boundaries at low frequency.Dielectric studies reveal the applicability of these ferrites in high frequency equipment,microwave applications,high storage media,and semiconductor devices. | Furhaj Ahmed Sheikh Muhammad Khalid Muhammad Shahzad Shifa H M Noor ul Huda Khan Asghar Sameen Aslam Ayesha Perveen Jalil ur Rehman Muhammad Azhar Khan Zaheer Abbas Gilani | 2019 | Chinese Physics B2019,28,8: | 1 |

| 11 | Molecular epidemiology, characterization of virulence factors and antibiotic resistance profile of Streptococcus agalactiae isolated from dairy farms in China and Pakistan显示文摘Streptococcus agalactiae is one of the most common pathogens that cause bovine mastitis worldwide. Identifying pathogen prevalence and virulence factors is critical for developing prevention and control approaches. Herein, 1 161 milk samples from various dairy farms in China(n=558) and Pakistan(n=603) were collected between 2019–2021 and were subjected to S. agalactiae isolation. Prevalence, serotyping, virulence genes, and antibiotic-resistant genes of S. agalactiae were evaluated by PCR assay. All isolates were characterized for haemolysis, biofilm production, cytotoxicity, adhesion, and invasion on bovine mammary epithelial cells. The prevalence of S. agalactiae-induced mastitis in cattle was found to be considerably higher in Pakistan than in China. Jiangsu and Sindh provinces had the highest area-wise prevalence in China and Pakistan, respectively. Serotypes Ia and II were prevalent in both countries, whereas serotype III was found only in Pakistan. Moreover, all isolates tested positive for PI-2b gene but negative for PI-1 and PI-2a genes. All isolates harboured cfb, cylE, hylB, and fbsB virulent genes, whereas many of them lacked bibA, rib and bca. However, the absence of bac and scp genes in Chinese isolates and cspA in Pakistani isolates was noted, while spb1 and lmb were not detected in isolates of both countries. Pakistani isolates, particularly serotype Iapositive, had a considerably higher ability to produce biofilm, haemolysis, cytotoxicity, adhesion, and invasion than Chinese isolates. Most of the isolates were phenotypically resistant to tetracycline, erythromycin, and clindamycin and genotypic resistance was confirmed by the presence of ermA, ermB, tetM and tetO genes. Our study highlights the antimicrobial resistance profile and virulence-related factors contributing to the epidemiological spread of mastitis-causing S. agalactiae in China and Pakistan. | 14 | Improving Routine Immunization Coverage Through Optimally Designed Predictive Models显示文摘Routine immunization(RI)of children is the most effective and timely public health intervention for decreasing child mortality rates around the globe.Pakistan being a low-and-middle-income-country(LMIC)has one of the highest child mortality rates in the world occurring mainly due to vaccine-preventable diseases(VPDs).For improving RI coverage,a critical need is to establish potential RI defaulters at an early stage,so that appropriate interventions can be targeted towards such populationwho are identified to be at risk of missing on their scheduled vaccine uptakes.In this paper,a machine learning(ML)based predictivemodel has been proposed to predict defaulting and non-defaulting children on upcoming immunization visits and examine the effect of its underlying contributing factors.The predictivemodel uses data obtained from Paigham-e-Sehat study having immunization records of 3,113 children.The design of predictive model is based on obtaining optimal results across accuracy,specificity,and sensitivity,to ensure model outcomes remain practically relevant to the problem addressed.Further optimization of predictive model is obtained through selection of significant features and removing data bias.Nine machine learning algorithms were applied for prediction of defaulting children for the next immunization visit.The results showed that the random forest model achieves the optimal accuracy of 81.9%with 83.6%sensitivity and 80.3%specificity.The main determinants of vaccination coverage were found to be vaccine coverage at birth,parental education,and socioeconomic conditions of the defaulting group.This information can assist relevant policy makers to take proactive and effective measures for developing evidence based targeted and timely interventions for defaulting children. | Fareeha Sameen Abdul Momin Kazi Majida Kazmi Munir A Abbasi Saad Ahmed Qazi Lampros K Stergioulas | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,1: | 0 |

| 16 | Age-Friendly Communities: Creating a Conducive Environment for the Elderly in India显示文摘India is one of the nations in the world where the population is undergoing anomalous demographic changes.The increase in longevity and decrease fertility lead to the boom of older people aged 60 and above both in relative and absolute terms.Due to the rise in number,it creates pressure not only on the family but the responsibility shifts to the government also.This issue becomes a significant social problem not only in India but across the globe.The government had taken action by creating policies and programs to provide services to them.Still,the majority of the elderly population is lacking behind in these areas like health facilities,infrastructure,living arrangements suffering from isolation,loneliness,abuse,crime.Nowadays,smart city initiatives are taken by the government across the country but still in process.To involve and facilitate more cities for“age-friendly”,the World Health Organization develop the Global Age-Friendly Cities Guide and a manual“Checklist of Essential Features of Age-Friendly Cities”.Cooperating with 35 urban communities from developed and developing nations,the WHO oversees eight highlights for age-accommodating urban areas in the space of urban life.This paper had an objective to study and understand exiting literature on age-friendly communities in developed and developing countries and draw attention to the need to create age-friendly cities in India.The realization of the needs and demands of older people,the Indian government should give attention to promote and implement more age-friendly communities all over the country.This initiative till now taken in 3 states,i.e.,Delhi,Udaipur,and Kolkata-which involved in age-friendly community initiatives collaborated with WHO.In this era of a rapid aging sphere,the communities have to enhance in such a manner where the older population can meet their needs quickly without any conflicts and problem.To conclude,the government and policymaker should emphasize the policies into practices to build age-friendly communities across the country and make better living conditions for“allages”.For timely action and productive recommendation,it is an urgent need on the part of the government,policymakers,researchers,social workers to develop and enhance the community’s facilities,which can gain confidence and wellbeing of the elderly in India. | Sameen Rafi Shyna Saif | 2020 | Journal of Geriatric Medicine2020,2,2: | 0 |
