1An Analysis of Social Vulnerability to Natural Hazards in Nepal Using a Modified Social Vulnerability Index显示文摘Social vulnerability influences the ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. The identification of vulnerable populations and factors that contribute to their vulnerability are crucial for effective disaster risk reduction. Nepal exhibits multihazard risk and has experienced socioeconomic and political upheaval in recent decades, further increasing susceptibility to hazards.However, we still know little regarding social vulnerability in Nepal. Here, we investigate social vulnerability in Nepal by adapting Social Vulnerability Index(SoVI) methods to the Nepali context. Variables such as caste, and populations who cannot speak/understand Nepali were added to reflect the essence of the Nepali context. Using principal component analysis, 39 variables were reduced to seven factors that explained 63.02% of variance in the data.Factor scores were summarized to calculate final SoVI scores. The highest levels of social vulnerability are concentrated in the central and western Mountain, western Hill, and central and eastern Tarai regions of Nepal, while the least vulnerable areas are in the central and eastern Hill regions. 5Evaluation of the parameters affecting the roughness coefficient of sewer pipes with rigid and loose boundary conditions via kernel based approaches显示文摘One of the important issues in water transport and sewer systems is determining the flow resistance and roughness coefficient.An accurate estimation of the roughness coefficient is a substantial issue in the design and operation of hydraulic structures such as sewer pipes,the calculation of water depth and flow velocity,and the accurate characterization of energy losses.The current study,applies two kernel based approaches[Support Vector Machine(SVM)and Gaussian Process Regression(GPR)]to develop roughness coefficient models for sewer pipes.In the modeling process,two types of sewer bed conditions were considered:loose bed and rigid bed.In order to develop the models,different input combinations were considered under three scenarios(Scenario 1:based on hydraulic characteristics,Scenarios 2 and 3:based on hydraulic and sediment characteristics with and without considering sediment concentration as input).The results proved the capability of the kernel based approaches in prediction of the roughness coefficient and it was found that for prediction of this parameter in sewer pipes Scenario 3 performed better than Scenarios 1 and 2.Also,the sensitivity analysis results showed that Dgr(Dimensionless particle number)for a rigid bed and wb/y(ratio of deposited bed width,wb,to flow depth,y)for a loose bed had the most significant impact on the modeling process.Kiyoumars Roushangar Roghayeh Ghasempour Sanam Biukaghazadeh 2020International Journal of Sediment Research2020,35,2:2

12Epstein-Barr virus-associated post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorders:beyond chemotherapy treatment显示文摘Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder(PTLD)is a rare but life-threatening complication of both allogeneic solid organ(SOT)and hematopoietic cell transplantation(HCT).The histology of PTLD ranges from benign polyclonal lymphoproliferation to a lesion indistinguishable from classic monoclonal lymphoma.Most commonly,PTLDs are Epstein-Barr virus(EBV)positive and result from loss of immune surveillance over EBV.Treatment for PTLD differs from the treatment for typical non-Hodgkin lymphoma because prognostic factors are different,resistance to treatment is unique,and there are specific concerns for organ toxicity.While recipients of HCT have a limited time during which they are at risk for this complication,recipients of SOT have a lifelong requirement for immunosuppression,so approaches that limit compromising or help restore immune surveillance are of high interest.Furthermore,while EBV-positive and EBV-negative PTLDs are not intrinsically resistant to chemotherapy,the poor tolerance of chemotherapy in the post-transplant setting makes it essential to minimize potential treatment-related toxicities and explore alternative treatment algorithms.Therefore,reduced-toxicity approaches such as single-agent CD20 monoclonal antibodies or bortezomib,reduced dosing of standard chemotherapeutic agents,and non-chemotherapy-based approaches such as cytotoxic T cells have all been explored.Here,we review the chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy treatment landscape for PTLD.Sanam Shahid Susan E.Prockop 2021Cancer Drug Resistance2021,4,3:1

16Non-Associative Algebra Redesigning Block Cipher with Color Image Encryption显示文摘The substitution box(S-box)is a fundamentally important component of symmetric key cryptosystem.An S-box is a primary source of non-linearity in modern block ciphers,and it resists the linear attack.Various approaches have been adopted to construct S-boxes.S-boxes are commonly constructed over commutative and associative algebraic structures including Galois fields,unitary commutative rings and cyclic and non-cyclic finite groups.In this paper,first a non-associative ring of order 512 is obtained by using computational techniques,and then by this ring a triplet of 8×8 S-boxes is designed.The motivation behind the designing of these S-boxes is to upsurge the robustness and broaden the key space due to non-associative and noncommutative behavior of the algebraic structure under consideration.A novel color image encryption application is anticipated in which initially these 3 S-boxes are being used to produce confusion in three layers of a standard RGB image.However,for the sake of diffusion 3D Arnold chaotic map is used in the proposed encryption scheme.A comparison with some of existing chaos and S-box dependent color image encryption schemes specs the performance results of the anticipated RGB image encryption and observed as approaching the standard prime level.Nazli Sanam Asif Ali Tariq Shah Ghazanfar Farooq 2021Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,4:0

18Diagnostic accuracy of thoracic imaging modalities for the detection of COVID-19显示文摘The ongoing coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic continues to present diagnostic challenges.The use of thoracic radiography has been studied as a method to improve the diagnostic accuracy of COVID-19.The‘Living’Cochrane Systematic Review on the diagnostic accuracy of imaging tests for COVID-19 is continuously updated as new information becomes available for study.In the most recent version,published in March 2021,a meta-analysis was done to determine the pooled sensitivity and specificity of chest X-ray(CXR)and lung ultrasound(LUS)for the diagnosis of COVID-19.CXR gave a sensitivity of 80.6%(95%CI:69.1-88.6)and a specificity of 71.5%(95%CI:59.8-80.8).LUS gave a sensitivity rate of 86.4%(95%CI:72.7-93.9)and specificity of 54.6%(95%CI:35.3-72.6).These results differed from the findings reported in the recent article in this journal where they cited the previous versions of the study in which a metaanalysis for CXR and LUS could not be performed.Additionally,the article states that COVID-19 could not be distinguished,using chest computed tomography(CT),from other respiratory diseases.However,the latest review version identifies chest CT as having a specificity of 80.0%(95%CI:74.9-84.3),which is much higher than the previous version which indicated a specificity of 61.1%(95%CI:42.3-77.1).Therefore,CXR,chest CT and LUS have the potential to be used in conjunction with other methods in the diagnosis of COVID-19.Haben Dawit Marissa Absi Nayaar Islam Sanam Ebrahimzadeh Matthew D F McInnes 2022World Journal of Radiology2022,14,2:0
