| 5 | Nutritional assessment in patients with liver cirrhosis显示文摘Malnutrition is a liver cirrhosis complication affecting more than 20%-50%of patients.Although the term can refer to either nutrient deficiency or excess,it usually relates to undernutrition in cirrhosis settings.Frailty is defined as limited physical function due to muscle weakness,whereas sarcopenia is defined as muscle mass loss and an advanced malnutrition stage.The pathogenesis of malnutrition in liver cirrhosis is multifactorial,including decreased oral intake,maldigestion/malabsorption,physical inactivity,hyperammonemia,hypermetabolism,altered macronutrient metabolism and gut microbiome dysbiosis.Patients with chronic liver disease with a Body Mass Index of<18.5 kg/m2 and/or decompensated cirrhosis or Child-Pugh class C are at the highest risk of malnutrition.For patients at risk of malnutrition,a detailed nutritional assessment is required,typically including a history and physical examination,laboratory testing,global assessment tools and body composition testing.The latter can be done using anthropometry,cross-sectional imaging including computed tomography or magnetic resonance,bioelectrical impedance analysis and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry.A multidisciplinary team should screen for and treat malnutrition in patients with cirrhosis.Malnutrition and sarcopenia are associated with an increased risk of complications and a poor prognosis in patients with liver cirrhosis;thus,it is critical to diagnose these conditions early and initiate the appropriate nutritional therapy.In this review,we describe the prevalence and pathogenesis of malnutrition in liver cirrhosis patients and discuss the best diagnostic approach to nutritional assessment for them. | Sara Haj Ali Awni Abu Sneineh Reem Hasweh | 2022 | World Journal of Hepatology2022,14,9: | 3 |
| 6 | Technical and economic feasibility study of flue gas injection in an Iranian oil field显示文摘Nowadays,the non-hydrocarbon gases are the main sources for gas injection projects in different countries.The main advantages of the flue gas injection are low cost,readily available sources(which consists mainly of N2 and CO2)and low compressibility in comparison with other gases like CO2 or CH4(for a given volume at the same conditions).In addition,it occupies more space in the reservoir and it is an appropriate way for CO2 sequestering and consequently reducing greenhouse gases.In the aforementioned method,N2 and/or CO2 is injected into the oil reservoir for miscible and/or immiscible displacement of remaining oil.Moreover,a key parameter in the designing of a gas injection project is the minimum miscibility pressure(MMP)which is commonly calculated by running simulation case or implementing conventional correlations.From technical viewpoints,the lower MMP values are more flavor for miscible gas injection process due to lower injection pressure and consequently lower maintenance and lower injection costs.The main aim of this research is to investigate various gas injection methods(N2,CO2,produced reservoir gas,and flue gas)in one of the northern Persian gulf oil fields by a numerical simulation method.Moreover,for each scenario of gas injection technical and economical considerations are took into account.Finally,an economic analysis is implemented to compare the net present value(NPV)of the different gas injection scenarios in the aforementioned oil field. | Mohammad Ali Ahmadi Mahdi zeinali Hasanvand Sara Shokrolahzadeh | 2015 | Petroleum2015,1,3: | 3 |
| 7 | Interferon-β induced in female genital epithelium by HIV-1 glycoprotein 120 via Toll-like-receptor 2 pathway acts to protect the mucosal barrier显示文摘More than 40%of HIV infections occur via female reproductive tract(FRT)through heterosexual transmission.Epithelial cells that line the female genital mucosa are the first line of defense against HIV-1 and other sexually transmitted pathogens.These sentient cells recognize and respond to external stimuli by induction of a range of carefully balanced innate immune responses.Previously,we have shown that in response to HIV-1 gp120,the genital epithelial cells(GECs)from upper reproductive tract induce an inflammatory response that may facilitate HIV-1 translocation and infection.In this study,we report that the endometrial and endocervical GECs simultaneously induce biologically active interferon-β(IFNβ)antiviral responses following exposure to HIV-1 that act to protect the epithelial tight junction barrier.The innate antiviral response was directly induced by HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein gp120 and addition of gp120 neutralizing antibody inhibited IFNβproduction.Interferon-βwas induced by gp120 in upper GECs through Toll-like receptor 2 signaling and required presence of heparan sulfate on epithelial cell surface.The induction of IFNβwas dependent upon activation of transcription factor IRF3(interferon regulatory factor 3).The IFNβwas biologically active,had a protective effect on epithelial tight junction barrier and was able to inhibit HIV-1 infection in TZM-bl indicator cells and HIV-1 replication in T cells.This is the first report that recognition of HIV-1 by upper GECs leads to induction of innate antiviral pathways.This could explain the overall low infectivity of HIV-1 in the FRT and could be exploited for HIV-1 prophylaxis. | Aisha Nazli Sara Dizzell Muhammad Atif Zahoor Victor H Ferreira Jessica Kafka Matthew William Woods Michel Ouellet Ali A Ashkar Michel J Tremblay Dawn ME Bowdish Charu Kaushic | 2019 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2019,16,2: | 2 |

| 10 | Hypovitaminosis D exacerbates the DNA damage load in human uterine fibroids, which is ameliorated by vitamin D3 treatment显示文摘Uterine fibroids (UFs) are the most common benign neoplastic threat to women’s health and associated with DNA damage and genomic instability. Hypovitaminosis D is a known risk factor for UFs, especially among African Americans. Vitamin D3 has been shown to effectively inhibit UF phenotype, but its mechanisms remain unclear. We hypothesize that Vitamin D3 ameliorates UFs by recovering the damaged DNA repair system, thus inhibits tumor progression. We compared the DNA damage status and Vitamin D receptor (VDR) expression between normal myometrial and UF primary cells. Unrepaired DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) accumulated but VDR expression decreased in UFs. The RNA and protein levels of key DNA repair members belonging to DNA DSB sensors (MRE11, NBS1, RAD50), mediators and effectors (CHECK2, BRCA1, RAD51) were downregulated in UFs compared with myometrial cells. VDR KD induced DSB accumulation and DNA damage response (DDR) defects in myometrial cells. Using the DNA damage PCR array, the expression of many additional DNA repair genes was downregulated in VDR KD cells. Treatment of UF cells with Vitamin D3 (100 nM) significantly decreased DNA damage and restored DDR concomitant with VDR induction. Notably, the PCR array demonstrated that among 75 downregulated genes after VDR KD, 67 (89.3%) were upregulated after vitamin D3 treatment. These studies demonstrate a novel link between DNA damage and the vitamin D3/VDR axis in UFs. | 11 | 铯改性的沸石Y上醇类和胺类的氰乙基化反应(英文)显示文摘Zeolite Y modified by cesium and magnesium ions was prepared by ion-exchange and impregnation methods, and its activity in the cyanoethylation of aliphatic and aromatic alcohols and amines was investigated. During the preparation of some samples, the transformation of zeolite Y into a pollu-cite-type phase occurred. This phase exhibited good activity in the cyanoethylation of aliphatic alcohols. The prepared solids modified by the impregnation method were more active than the ion-exchanged solids. The activities of the catalysts, in contrast to other basic solids, were scarcely affected by the presence of air or moisture. A correlation between catalyst basicity and catalytic activity is discussed. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, volumetric nitrogen adsorption surface area measurement, and CO2 temperature-programmed desorption. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that the particles of the modified nanocatalysts were < 40 nm. | 20 | Design and preparation of a new multi-targeted drug delivery system using multifunctional nanoparticles for co-delivery of siRNA and paclitaxel显示文摘Drug resistance is a great challenge in cancer therapy using chemotherapeutic agents. Administration of these drugs with siRNA is an efficacious strategy in this battle. Here, the present study tried to incorporate siRNA and paclitaxel(PTX) simultaneously into a novel nanocarrier. The selectivity of carrier to target cancer tissues was optimized through conjugation of folic acid(FA) and glucose(Glu) onto its surface. The structure of nanocarrier was formed from ternary magnetic copolymers based on FeCopolyethyleneimine(FeCo-PEI) nanoparticles and polylactic acid-polyethylene glycol(PLA-PEG) gene delivery system. Biocompatibility of FeCo-PEI-PLA-PEG-FA(NPsA), FeCo-PEI-PLA-PEG-Glu(NPsB) and FeCo-PEI-PLA-PEG-FA/Glu(NPsAB) nanoparticles and also influence of PTX-loaded nanoparticles on in vitro cytotoxicity were examined using MTT assay. Besides, siRNA-FAM internalization was investigated by fluorescence microscopy. The results showed the blank nanoparticles were significantly less cytotoxic at various concentrations. Meanwhile, siRNA-FAM/PTX encapsulated nanoparticles exhibited significant anticancer activity against MCF-7 and BT-474 cell lines. NPsAB/siRNA/PTX nanoparticles showed greater effects on MCF-7 and BT-474 cells viability than NPsA/siRNA/PTX and NPsB/siRNA/PTX.Also, they induced significantly higher anticancer effects on cancer cells compared with NPsA/siRNA/PTX and NPsB/siRNA/PTX due to their multi-targeted properties using FA and Glu.
