| 1 | Study of anti ulcer activity of Ficus religiosa L.on experimentally induced gastric ulcers in rats显示文摘Objective:To investigate the gastroprotective activity of hydroalcoholic extract leaves of Ficus religiosa(F.religiosa) in different experimental models of gastric ulcer in rats. Methods:The hydroalcoholic extract leaves of F.religiosa were studied at two dose levels(250 and 500 mg/ kg,oral) in rats against absolute ethanol(0.2 mL oral),aspirin(200 mg/kg) and pyloric ligation induced gastric ulcer.Ranitidine(50 mg/kg,oral) was used as a standard drug.Mean ulcer indices and oxidative stress were measured.Phytochemical tests and acute toxicity tests were also carried out. Results:Administration of F.religiosa to rats significantly decreased the ulcer index value when compared with the control treated group.Ranitidine(50 mg/kg,oral) also produced a significant decrease the ulcer index value when compared with the control treated group.Phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of tannins, sterols, saponins, flavonoids, carbohydrates and proteins. Conclusions:The results suggest that the leaves of the F.religiosa possess significant anti ulcer activity. | Sarmistha Saha Gagan Goswami | 2010 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2010,3,10: | 4 |

| 19 | Evaluation of the etiologies and rehabilitation status of patients with blindness: A prospective observational study显示文摘Objective:Preventive measures and appropriate rehabilitation are important in reducing the social burden of blindness. This study was to evaluate the etiologies, proportions, and level of rehabilitation for patients with blindness.Materials and Methods:A prospective observational study with 1000 visually impaired patients was conducted. The data regarding age, gender, socioeconomic status(SES),etiologies, curable or incurable blindness(IB),treatments, awareness, and state of rehabilitation were collected and reviewed. Results:The ratio of curable to IB was 0.82:1.The proportion of blindness rises after 40,even while the proportion of curable blindness(CB)increases after 60.The male–female ratios were 1.25:1 and 1:1.66 in the cases of CB and IB,respectively. On the other hand, the male–female ratio for childhood blindness was 1.66:1.Cataracts(78.22%)were the most common cause of CB,whereas diabetic retinopathy(24%),corneal opacity(17.5%),and trauma(12.4%)were causes of IB.Patients with illiteracy, low SES,and female gender were more likely to develop IB.There were low enrollment rates at the blind school and poor rehabilitation, mainly because of a lack of knowledge. Conclusion:Diabetic retinopathy, corneal opacity, and trauma are the major causes of IB.IB and poor rehabilitation were more profound in women and were associated with illiteracy, low SES,and a lack of awareness. | Sarmistha DAS Pankaj Kumar HALDER Suchidipa RAY Akholu VADEO Kallol PAUL Sneha SARKAR | 2023 | Journal of Integrative Nursing2023,5,4: | 0 |
| 20 | Effects of Large-Scale Climatic Oscillations on the Variability of the Indian Summer Monsoon Rainfall显示文摘In India,large-scale climatic oscillations have strong influences on the Indian summer monsoon rainfall(ISMR),which plays a crucial role in India’s agricultural production and economic growth. However, there are limited studies in India that explore the influences of decadal and multidecadal oscillations on the ISMR and associated El Niño–Southern Oscillation(ENSO).Therefore,in this study we carried out a comprehensive and detailed investigation to understand the influences of ENSO,Pacific decadal oscillation(PDO),and Atlantic multidecadal oscillation(AMO)on ISMR across different regions in India. The statistical significance of ISMR associated with different phases(positive/warm and negative/cold)of ENSO,PDO,and AMO(individual analysis),and combined ENSO–AMO,and ENSO–PDO(coupled analysis)were analysed by using the nonparametric Wilcoxon Rank Sum(WRS)test. The individual analysis results indicate that in addition to the ENSO teleconnection,AMO and PDO significantly affect the spatial patterns of ISMR.Coupled analysis was performed to understand how the phase shift of PDO and AMO has modulated the rainfall during El Niño and La Niña phases. The results indicate that the La Niña associated with a positive PDO phase caused excessive precipitation of about 21%–150%in the peninsular, west–central, and hilly regions compared to the individual effect of ENSO/PDO/AMO on ISMR;similarly, the west–central, coastal, and northwest regions received 15%–56%of excessive rainfall. Moreover, during the El Niño combined with PDO positive(AMO positive),above-normal precipitation was observed in hilly, northeast, and coastal(hilly, northeast, west–central, and coastal)regions, opposite to the results obtained from the individual ENSO analysis. This study emphasizes the importance of accounting the decadal and multidecadal forcing when examining variations in the ISMR during different phases of ENSO events. | Deepak MEENA Athira K Sarmistha SINGH | 2023 | Journal of Meteorological Research2023,37,3: | 0 |
