Clostridium difficile infections in China显示文摘Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) infection has become one of the major hospital-associated infections in West-ern countries in the last two decades. However, there is limited information on the status of C. difficile infection inChinese healthcare settings. Given the large and increasing elderly population and the well-recognized problem ofover-prescribing of broad spectrum antibiotics in China, it is critical to understand the epidemiology and potentialrisk factors that may contribute to C. difficile infection in China. A literature review of available published studies, including those in Chinese language-based journals, was conducted. A review of the currently available literaturesuggested the presence of C. difficile infections in China, but also suggested that these infections were not particu-larly endemic. This finding should lead to better designed and greatly expanded studies to provide a more reliableepidemiologically-based conclusion on the actual status of C. difficile infection in China, including the identifica-tion of any associated risk factors. Such information is ultimately valuable to develop appropriate strategies to pre-vent C. difficile infection and the vast negative impact of such infections in China and other developing countries. | Ke Jin a,b,c,Shixia Wang c,d,Zuhu Huang a,b,c,Shan Lu b,c,daDepartment of Infectious Diseases,bJiangsu Province Key Laboratory in Infectious Diseases,cChina-US Vaccine ResearchCenter, the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University,Nanjing,Jiangsu 210029,China d Department of Medicine,University of Massachusetts Medical School,Worcester,MA 01655,USA. | 2010 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2010,24,6: | 14
Motion behavior of particles in air-solid magnetically stabilized fluidized beds for separation显示文摘In order to study the settling mechanism of particles in an air-solid magnetically stabilized fluidized bed(MSFB) for separation,we carried out free settling and quasi-zero settling tests on the tracing particles. The results show that the main resistance forces as the tracing particles settled in an air-solid MSFB were motion resistance force and yield force. The motion resistance and yield forces greatly hindered the free settling of the particles by greatly decreasing the acceleration for settling process of the particles. The acceleration decreased from 3022.62 cm/s 2 to zero in 0.1 s,and in the end,the particles stopped in the air-solid MSFB.The yield force on particles increased with increasing the magnetic field intensity, resulting in decrease of the quasi-zero settling displacement. However, the yield force on particles decreased with increasing the fluidized air velocity, leading to increase of the quasi-zero settling displacement. When the structure and operating parameters of the air-solid MSFB were set up,the yield stress on particles stopped in an air-solid MSFB was a function of diameter and density of particles. The settling displacements of equal diameter particles increased with increasing their densities, and the settling displacements of equal density particles increased with increasing their diameters. | Song Shulei a,,Zhao Yuemin a,Luo Zhenfu a,Tang Ligang b a School of Chemical Engineering and Technology,China University of Mining & Technology,Xuzhou 221116,China b Coal Mining and Designing Department,Tiandi Science & Technology Company Co.Ltd.,Beijing 100013,China | 2012 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2012,22,5: | 13
Coupled modeling of tumour angiogenesis, tumour growth, and blood perfusion显示文摘This paper proposes a more realistic mathematical simulation method to investigate the dynamic process of tumour angio-genesis by fully coupling the vessel growth, tumour growth and associated blood perfusion. The tumour growth and angiogenesis are coupled by the chemical microenvironment and the cell-matrix interaction. The haemodynamic calculation is carried out on the new vasculature, and an estimation of vessel collapse is made according to the wall shear stress criterion. The results are consistent with physiological observations, and further confirm the application of the coupled model feedback mechanism. The model is available to examine the interactions between angiogenesis and tumour growth,to study the change in the dynamic process of chemical environment and the vessel remodeling. | Y.Cai,1,2 S.X.Xu,1,a) J.Wu,3 and Q.Long 2,b) 1) Department of Mechanics and Engineering Science,Fudan University,Shanghai 200433,China 2) Brunel Institute for Bioengineering,School of Engineering and Design,Brunel University,Uxbridge,Middlesex,UK 3) School of Naval Architecture,Ocean and Civil Engineering,Shanghai Jiaotong University,Shanghai 200240,China | 2011 | Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2011,1,4: | 8
Effects of disinhibition on spatiotemporal pattern of neuronal first recruitment in neuronal networks显示文摘The propagation of neuronal activities is a key feature to understanding information processing in networks. The analysis based on first-spikes of bursts in turn plays an important role in the research of neuronal activity propagation. Our focus here is to investigate how spatiotemporal patterns of neuronal first-spikes are affected by disinhibition. Multi-electrode arrays were used to record stimulation-evoked bursts of multiple neurons in randomly cultured neuronal networks. Both the precise timing of and the rank relationships between first-spikes were analyzed. Compared with evoked bursts in the network's native state, the precise first-spike latencies in its dis-inhibited state are more consistent and the propagation of its bursting activities is much faster. Additional points of interest are that disinhibited neuronal networks can be evoked to generate stable and distinguishable neuronal first recruitment spatiotemporal patterns specific to the stimulation site, and that the disinhibition may cause the original spatiotemporal patterns to change in a heterogeneous manner with regards to different propagation pathways. | Liangbin Pana,b,c,1, Xindong Songa,b,c,1, Guangxin Xiang a,b,c, Jing Zhua,b,c, Jing Cheng a,b,c,d,a Medical Systems Biology Research Center, Tsinghua University School of Medicine, Beijing 100084, China b Department of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology, Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084, China c National Engineering Research Center for Beijing Biochip Technology, 18 Life Science Parkway, Beijing 102206, China d State Key Laboratory of Biomembrane and Membrane Biotechnology, Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084, China | 2009 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2009,19,5: | 6
Internet-based collaborative pseudo-dynamic testing of multi-span bridge structure显示文摘In this paper, the first Internet-based collaborative pseudo-dynamic testing of a multi-span bridge system in China's Mainland is presented in detail, which has been carried out by the collaboration of Hunan University (HNU), Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) and Tsinghua University (TU) in China's Mainland, and the University of Southern California (USC) in the USA. The prototype system of Russion River Bridge at Southern California in America is illustrated. Different testing specimens, testing equipments and substructure boundary conditions at HNU and HIT laboratories are described. A network protocol platform for collaborative pseudo-dynamic testing, called NetSLab, and some function modules developed on the use of its standardized interface are introduced. Aiming at the MTS system widely used in structural testing, two approaches are presented to implement the communication interface between NetSLab and testing equipment, respectively, studied by HNU and HIT. The integrated networked testing system and collaborative testing procedures are presented. The testing results manifest that the networked collaborative testing system with powerful capability provides a testing platform with good coordination for complex models or actual structures, and achieves remote sharing of testing equipments. | Dapeng Wang a, Shizhu Tiana, Xinjiang Caia, Yunlei Fan b, Yan Xiaob,c a School of Civil Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin 150090, China b School of Civil Engineering, Hunan University, Changsha 410082, China c Department of Civil Engineering, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA 90089, USA | 2009 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2009,19,5: | 4

Epstein-Barr virus-encoded latent membrane protein 1 modulates cyclin D1 by c-Jun/Jun B heterodimers显示文摘In our recent studies, we found that LMP1 encoded by Epstein-Barr virus could accelerate the formation of active c-Jun/Jun B heterodimer. We studied the regulation of cyclinD1 by c-Jun/Jun B heterodimers by laser scanning confocal influorescence microscopy, Western blot, luciferase activity assay, super-EMSA and flow cytometry in the Tet-on-LMP1 HNE2 cell line, in which LMP1 expression was regulated by Tet-on system. c-Jun/Jun B heterodimers induced by LMP1 could up regulate cyclin D1 promoter activity and expression. Overexpression of cy-clinD1 accelerated the progression of cell cycle. | SONG Xin1, TAO Yongguang1, ZENG Liang1, YANG Jing1, TANG Faqing1, Leo M. Lee2, GONG Jianping3, WU Qiao4 & CAO Ya1 1. | 13 | Preparative isolation and purification of 12,13-dihydroxyeuparin from Radix Eupatorii Chinensis by high-speed counter-current chromatography显示文摘An efficient method for the isolation and purification of 12,13-dihydroxyeuparin from Radix Eupatorii Chinensis by high speed counter-current chromatography (HSCCC) was established in this paper. The ether extracts of Radix Eupatorii Chinensis were purified by HSCCC with a solvent system of hexyl hydride-ethyl acetate-methanol-water (1:2:1:2, v/v/v/v). The upper phase was used as the stationary phase and the lower phase as the mobile phase. About 8.4 mg of 12, 13-dihydroxyeuparin was obtained from 200 mg of ether extracts from Radix Eupatorii Chinensis in one-step HSCCC separation, with the purity of 96.71%, as determined by HPLC. After methanolwater recrystallization, the purity of 12,13-dihydroxyeuparin reached 99.83%. Such a simple and effective method was fairly useful to prepare pure compound as reference substances for related study on Radix Eupatorii Chinensis. | Mei Yang a,b , Xin-Jun Xu a,b,Chun-Yan Xie a,b , Jie-Yun Huang a,b , Zhi-Sheng Xie a,b , De-Po Yang a,b a School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou 510006, China b Guangdong Technology Research Center for Advanced Chinese Medicine, Guangzhou 510006, China | 2012 | Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2012,2,4: | 2

Synthesis and phosphorescent properties of two novel iridium (Ⅲ) complexes bearing bulky tert-butyl substituents显示文摘The synthesis and phosphorescence properties of two novel Ir(Ⅲ)complexes bearing tert-butyl substituents,bis(4-tert-butyl-2- phenylbenzothiozolato-N,C2′)iridium(Ⅲ)(acetylacetonate)[(tbt)2Ir(acac)]and bis(4-tert-butyl-1-phenyl-1H-benzimidazolato- N,C2′)iridium(Ⅲ)(acetylacetonate)[(tpbi)2Ir(acac)],are reported, their molecular structures are confirmed by1H NMR,ESI-MS and elementary analysis.Photoluminescence(PL)studies revealed that they can emit strong green and orange phosphorescence in high quantum yields.Compared to their prototypes lacking of tert-butyl substituents, the two novel iridium(Ⅲ)complexes both have shorter lifetimes and improved or nearly similar PL quantum efficiencies, implying that the exciton quenching is inhibited effectively when molecular steric hindrance increases. The two chelates have great potential to be used as electrophosphorescent materials. | Rong Huang~a Xiao Qiang Wei~(a,b) Tai Ping Zhang~a Zhi Yun Lu~(a,*) Ming Gui Xie~a a College of Chemistry,Sichuan University,Chengdu 610064,China b School of Optic-electronic Information,University of Electronic Science and Technology of China,Chengdu 610054,China | 2007 | Chinese Chemical Letters2007,18,9: | 1
