| 1 | The responses of carbon-and nitrogen-acquiring enzymes to nitrogen and phosphorus additions in two plantations in southern China显示文摘In tropical plantations,nutrients such as nitrogen(N)or phosphorus(P)are often applied as management practices.However,the effects of such nutrient additions on topsoil C-and N-acquiring enzymes activities are unclear.In this study,the impacts of fertilization onβ-1,4-glucosidase(BG),β-D-cellobiosidase(CBH),β-1,4-xylosidase(BX),β-1,4-N-acetyl-glucosaminidase(NAG),and leucine amino peptidase(LAP)enzymes activities from topsoil and litter layer of two tropical plantations(Acacia auriculiformis and Eucalyptus urophylla)were measured.The results showed that N addition had neutral impact on topsoil enzymes,while significantly elevating the activities of BG,CBH,BX,and NAG in the litter layer.P fertilization had no impacts except for an elevation of NAG in litter sample.There was no interactions found between N and P additions on these enzyme activities.The clearer impacts of N over P fertilization were unexpected because that the study site receives a high rate of atmospheric N deposition,and has low soil P availability.The impact of P fertilization on hydrolytic enzyme activities may be less important compared with that of N. | Senhao Wang Taiki Mori Jiangming Mo Wei Zhang | 2020 | Journal of Forestry Research2020,31,4: | 2 |
| 2 | A potent PGK1 antagonist reveals PGK1 regulates the production of IL-1βand IL-6显示文摘Glycolytic metabolism enzymes have been implicated in the immunometabolism field through changes in metabolic status. PGK1 is a catalytic enzyme in the glycolytic pathway. Here, we set up a high-throughput screen platform to identify PGK1 inhibitors. DC-PGKI is an ATPcompetitive inhibitor of PGK1 with an affinity of Kd= 99.08 nmol/L. DC-PGKI stabilizes PGK1in vitro and in vivo, and suppresses both glycolytic activity and the kinase function of PGK1. In addition,DC-PGKI unveils that PGK1 regulates production of IL-1β and IL-6 in LPS-stimulated macrophages.Mechanistically, inhibition of PGK1 with DC-PGKI results in NRF2(nuclear factor-erythroid factor 2-related factor 2, NFE2L2) accumulation, then NRF2 translocates to the nucleus and binds to the proximity region of Il-1β and Il-6 genes, and inhibits LPS-induced expression of these genes. DC-PGKI ameliorates colitis in the dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced colitis mouse model. | 3 | Strain-Insensitive Hierarchically Structured Stretchable Microstrip Antennas for Robust Wireless Communication显示文摘As the key component of wireless data transmission and powering,stretchable antennas play an indispensable role in flexible/stretchable electronics.However,they often suffer from frequency detuning upon mechanical deformations;thus,their applications are limited to wireless sensing with wireless transmission capabilities remaining elusive.Here,a hierarchically structured stretchable microstrip antenna with meshed patterns arranged in an arched shape showcases tunable resonance frequency upon deformations with improved overall stretchability.The almost unchanged resonance frequency during deformations enables robust on-body wireless communication and RF energy harvesting,whereas the rapid changing resonance frequency with deformations allows for wireless sensing.The proposed stretchable microstrip antenna was demonstrated to communicate wirelessly with a transmitter(input power of−3 dBm)efficiently(i.e.,the receiving power higher than−100 dBm over a distance of 100 m)on human bodies even upon 25%stretching.The flexibility in structural engineering combined with the coupled mechanical-electromagnetic simulations,provides a versatile engineering toolkit to design stretchable microstrip antennas and other potential wireless devices for stretchable electronics. | Jia Zhu Senhao Zhang Ning Yi Chaoyun Song Donghai Qiu Zhihui Hu Bowen Li Chenghao Xing Hongbo Yang Qing Wang Huanyu Cheng | 2021 | Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,8: | 1 |

| 7 | Testing potassium limitation on soil microbial activity in a sub-tropical forest显示文摘Because potassium(K)is a rock-derived essential element that can be depleted in highly-weathered tropical soils,K availability may limit some portion of soil microbial activity in tropical forest ecosystems.In this paper we tested if K limits microbial activity in the condition of sufficient labile C supply.An incubation experiment was performed using surface soil samples(0–10 cm depth)obtained from four permanent ecological research plots in a natural sub-tropical forest in southern China.Soil samples were taken in September 2016.Heterotrophic soil respiration rates and microbial biomass were measured after the addition of glucose(both D and L)with and without K(potassium chloride).We did not observe any effects of K addition on soil microbial respiration,suggesting that K does not limit the microbial activity in the condition of sufficient labile C supply.The lack of microbial response to added K can be attributed to the high mobility of K in forest ecosystems,which may have provided sufficient K to microbes in our soil samples(already provided at the beginning of the incubation).However,at the present stage,we cannot conclude that K is not a limiting factor of soil microbial activity in other tropical forest ecosystems because of the heterogeneity of tropical forest ecosystems and few observations.The hypothesis needs to be tested in larger numbers of tropical forests. | Taiki Mori Senhao Wang Zhuohang Wang Cong Wang Hui Mo Jiangming Mo Xiankai Lu | 2019 | Journal of Forestry Research2019,30,6: | 0 |

| 9 | Effect of nitrogen addition on DOC leaching and chemical exchanges on canopy leaves in Guangdong Province, China显示文摘The impact of nitrogen(N)deposition on dissolved organic carbon(DOC)fractions in throughfall is not well understood.We performed a laboratory experiment and compared DOC leaching from canopy leaves after dipping leaves in pure water(control)and NH4NO3 solution(N-treatment)for 18 h.Net changes of DOC,NH4^+,NO3^-,SO4^2-,K^+,Mg^2+,Ca^2+and H^+contents after dipping leaves were determined by comparing solutions with and without leaves.We recorded no differences of DOC leaching between control and N-treatment,implying that N deposition had minor impacts on canopy DOC production.This confirmed that previous experiments testing the effects of N addition on DOC dynamics without considering the effects of the canopy reaction successfully described the real situation.We also confirmed the previously-reported canopy exchange process in spite of a high background N deposition at our study site.N-treatment significantly increased base cation leaching,especially K^+,and the increase was positively correlated with foliar NH4?retention.Net leaching of H^+and SO4^2-was not affected by the N-treatment. | Taiki Mori Kaijun Zhou Senhao Wang Wei Zhang Jiangming Mo | 2019 | Journal of Forestry Research2019,30,5: | 0 |
| 10 | Anti-clogging ability of the labyrinth emitter and its evaluation method显示文摘Emitter clogging is one of the most serious factors that restrict the drip irrigation system operation and water use efficiency.To scientifically characterize and evaluate emitter clogging risk,a literature review,short-period emitter anti-clogging tests,and CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics)hydraulic performance tests were conducted.Results showed that the emitter anti-clogging ability is related to its structure,material,and processing technology,not external factors.This was evidenced in the irrigation tests,as with the different water qualities,the same emitters were repeatedly prone to clog or to avoid clogging.A predictive model of structural resistance coefficient(Cs),a quantitative indicator of the emitter anti-clogging ability,whose value ranges between 0 and 1,was utilized.Larger Cs values indicate a lower anti-clogging ability and thus a higher risk of clogging.A good linear relationship between Cs and the relative flow rate was detected,and the Cs relationship with the fluidity index(x)was determined to be a power function.The Cs should be controlled within the range of 0.146-0.461 when designing new emitters to ensure that they have good anti-clogging properties.This research will provide theoretical guidance for the anti-clogging management of drip irrigation systems and for the design of optimal emitter structures. | Wenqian Zhang Zhaoxi Wang Senhao Cheng Aihong Dong Erxin Zhang Wenquan Niu | 2022 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2022,15,6: | 0 |
