Laser probe ^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar dating of mica on the deformed rocks from Altyn Fault and its tectonic implications, western China显示文摘The samples of Caledonian mylonitized granite and Jurassic meta-sedimentary rocks were collected in the north of Dangjinshan Pass, Qaidam gate fault-valley and Gesi fault-valley. Detailed studies under the microscope and electronic microscope suggest that all the samples contain the syntectonic-growing minerals such as white mica, chlorite, sericite, biotite, etc. By dating these minerals, we got a group of 40Ar/39Ar laser probe isochronal ages of 89-92 Ma and apparent ages of (46.6±6.4) Ma. The ages ranging from 97 to 46 Ma were reported for the first time in the isotopic dating researches of the Altyn Fault The isochronal age group of (98-89) Ma indicates that a ductile strike-slip event, with low-grade metamorphism, began in late Cretaceous. This suggests that the strike-slip movement of the Altyn Fault should be related to the formation of the so-called west tectonic syntaxis in the Nepal-western Kunlun area. | LIU Yongjiang, YE Huiwen, GE Xiaohong, CHEN Wen, LIU Junlai, REN Shoumai & PAN HongxunCollege of Earth Sciences, Changchun University of Science and Technology, Changchun 130061, China Graduate School, China University of Geosciences, Beijing 100083, China Laboratory of Isotopic Geochronology, Institute of Geology, Ministry of Land and Resources of China, Beijing 100037, China | 2001 | Chinese Science Bulletin2001,46,4: | 16
Paleomagnetic study on orogenic belt:An example from Early Cretaceous volcanic rocks,Inner Mongolia,China显示文摘We report paleomagnetic results for Early Cretaceous lava flows collected from the Suhongtu area of Inner Mongolia, the middle part of the Tianshan-Mongolia Fold Belt (TMFB). Rock-magnetic experiments for different lava flows indicate that the main magnetic mineral is pseudo-single-domain (PSD) magnetite. The characteristic high-temperature remanence com- ponent is isolated by thermal demagnetization temperature steps between 300°C and 585'C, which yields a mean direction of D = 23.6°, I=56.0° with α 95 = 2.3°. We interpret this high-temperature remanence component as primary magnetization based mainly upon the petrographic analysis, which shows that the shape of magnetite crystal is relatively rounded square or polygon without internal reflection and deuterogenous phenomenon. The correspond- ing pole of the high-temperature remanence component is at 71.1°N, 200.5°E with A 95 = 2.7°. This Early Cretaceous pole is in good agreement with those for Siberia, North China, and Inner Mongolia, suggesting that these continental blocks had already sutured together in the Early Cretaceous, which would further provide constraints on better understanding of the formation and evolution of the TMFB. | REN Shoumai 1,2 ,ZHU Rixiang 1 ,HUANG Baochun 1 ,ZHANG Fuqin 1 & WANG Hongqiang 1 1.Institute of Geology and Geophysics,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Beijing 100029,China 2.Strategic Research Center for Oil and Natural Gas,The Ministry of Land and Resources of China,Beijing 100034,China | 2004 | Science China Earth Sciences2004,47,12: | 5
Paleomagnetic study on the Early Triassic red beds from Jiaocheng, Shanxi Province ——Local rotation and tectonic significance显示文摘Paleomagnetic and rock magnetic study has been conducted on the Early Triassicred beds of Liujiagou Formation from Jiaocheng, Shanxi Province. Hematite was shown as themain magnetic mineral. After eradicating an initial viscous component at room temperature to~100℃-200℃, thermal demagnetization shows that most samples contain two remanencecomponents, intermediate-temperature remanence component at 250℃-500℃ and high-tem-perature component at 500℃-680℃. The intermediate-temperature component has a negativefold test at the 95% confidence level. And the pole position of the intermediate-temperaturecomponent in geographic coordinates is correlated with the Middle Jurassic reference pole of theNorth China Block (NCB) within the 95% confidence, suggesting that it might be a remagnetiza-tion component acquired during the Yanshanian period. The high-temperature component con-tains both reversal and normal polarities with positive fold test and C-level positive reversal test atthe 95% confidence level, which suggests that this high-temperature component can be regardedas primary magnetization. Comparison of this newly obtained Early Triassic paleopole with thecoeval mean pole of the Ordos Basin suggests that a locally relative rotation may have happenedbetween the Ordos and the Jiaocheng area of Shanxi Province. This rotation may be related withtwo faults: one is Lishi big fault separating Ordos from Shanxi and the other is Jiaocheng big fault, which is situated in the southeast of sampling locality and was still in motion during the Cenozoic. | SHI Ruiping HUANG Baochun ZHU Rixiang REN Shoumai | 2004 | Science China Earth Sciences2004,47,2: | 2
Characterizing the Micropores in Lacustrine Shales of the Late Cretaceous Qingshankou Formation of Southern Songliao Basin, NE China显示文摘Micropores of shale are significant to the gas content and production potential of shale, which has been verified in the research of marine shale gas; while, few studies have been conducted on lacustrine shales. This study collected 42 samples from three wells in the Late Cretaceous Qingshankou Formation of the southern Songliao Basin, NE China, and investigated these samples by the focused ion beam-scanning electron microscope(FIB–SEM) and nitrogen adsorption analysis techniques. Four types of micropores were identified in the samples, i.e., intergranular pore, intracellular pore, organic matter pore and microfracture. The pore structure type is characterized by open slit pores and 'ink type' pores which are mainly 1.5–5 nm in diameter with mesopores as the main pores. The mesopores account for 74.01% of the pore volume and 54.68% of the pore surface area. Compared with the lacustrine shales from the Triassic Yanchang Formation in the Ordos Basin and Xujiahe Formation in the Sichuan Basin, the intergranular clay mineral interlayer pores are considered to be the main reservoir space for shale gas storage in the study area, followed by intraparticle pores, organic matter pores and microfractures. Maturity and micropore are the key controlling factors which affect the shale gas content of the Qingshankou Formation in southern Songliao Basin. | GE Mingna REN Shoumai GUO Tianxu ZHOU Zhi WANG Shengjian BAO Shujing | 2018 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2018,92,6: | 2
Abrupt uplift of Tibetan Plateau at the end of early Pleistocene and Australasian impact event显示文摘The latest sharp uplift of the Tibetan Plateau and adjacent mountains occurred at the end of the early Pleistocene. The uplift of the Plateau resulted from Late Mesozoic--Cenozoic compressional structure due to the subduction of the Indian Plate beneath the Asian continent. This event definitively effected the formation of basin-mountain relief, Cenozoic basin deformation, large scale aridity and desertification of western China. The Australasian meteorites impact event happened ca. 0.8 Ma ago, located in the triangle area of the Indian Ocean ridge (20°S/67°E). The impact may have resulted in an acceleration of speeding of the Indian Ocean ridge pushing the Indian Plate to subduct rapidly northward. Thus, the impact event can give reasonable explanation for the dynamic background of the latest rapid uplift of the Tibetan Plateau and the continental deformation of western China and even of the Middle Asia. | REN Shoumai LIU Yongjiang GE Xiaohong | 2009 | Global Geology2009,12,3: | 2

New paleomagnetic evidences of paleogene tectonic rotation of the Qaidam Basin and adjacent region: mechanism and its tectonic implication显示文摘In order to better understand the tectonic evolution of the Qaidam Basin. The authors carried out a paleomagnetic study on 39 samples of 7 sites from Hongsanhan section, northwest Qaidam Basin. Stepwise thermo-demagnetization isolated a high-temperature component (HTC), which passes the fold and reversal tests at 95% confidence level. It suggests that the HTC should be primary. Unblocking temperature (about 685℃) and the experiment of isothermal remanence indicate that hematite is the mainly carrier of the remanence. A tilt-corrected mean direction is: Ds=7.1°, Is=38.5°, α95=7.4°. Corresponding to a palaeopole at, φ=250.1°E, λ=72.0°N, A95=6.8°, Compared with the reference APWP of Eurasia, the sampling area occurred a non-significant rotation (3.4°±5.5°) relative to Eurasia since Eocene due to the affect of left-lateral Altyn fault, Based on the paleomagnetic results of early Cretaceous and Teritary within the Qaidam block, we can obtained the mean clockwise rotations from the samples deposited from 160 Ma to 45 Ma is 24.5°±9.0°, and from 38 Ma to present is -0.5°±7.5° relative to present geomagnetism respectively. During the Mid Eocene (45~38 Ma) rotation phase, there should existing an important early tectonic event in northern part of the present-day Tibetan Plateau, which probably represents one of large-scale strike-slip events of the Altyn strike-slip fault. | Weimin Li Yongjiang Liu Zhiming Sun Xiaohong Ge Shoumai Ren Junling Pei Sihua Yuang Xinzhuan Guo | 2006 | Global Geology2006,9,1: | 0
