1Leaf choice in black-and-white snub-nosed monkeys Rhinopithecus bieti is related to the physical and chemical properties of leaves显示文摘To understand the effects of the chemical and physical properties of plant leaves on food choice in Rhinopithecus bieti,we collected mature leaves of nine food and five non-food plant species at the southernmost part of the species's range.Chemical properties such as fat, ash, crude protein (CP), total phenolics (TP), and fiber content including neutral detergent fiber(NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), lignin, celluloses and hemicelluloses, and physical toughness were measured. R. bieti tendedto choose leaves with lower fiber content, higher ash, a higher ratio of CP/ADF, and lower toughness. No difference was foundfor fat, crude protein, total phenolics, hemicelluloses and lignin between food and non-food leaves. Even though the ratio ofCP/ADF is generally regarded as a good indicator for colobine food choice, the difference in the ratio of CP/ADF between foodand non-food leaves was only the result of differences in ADF. Since positive correlations were found between ADF and toughnessfrom all leaves (both food and non-food species), and toughness of leaves was likely easier for R. bieti to sense than fibercontent via mastication, the toughness of leaves may function as a predictor of food choice in this species.Zhipang HUANG Sheng HUO Shuguo YANG Liangwei CUI Wen XIAO 2010Current Zoology2010,56,6:6

3Method for Caution Values Calculation of Dissolved Gases in Transformers Based on Statistical Distribution and Correlation Analysis显示文摘Before diagnosed by DGA (dissolved gas analysis) methods, gas caution values, which index the level of gas formation, must be used to evaluate the possibility of incipient faults to reduce the misdiagnosis in the normal state. However, the calculation of these values is now only based on cumulative percentile method without taking into account operating conditions. To overcome this disadvantage, a new approach to calculate the transformer caution values is presented. This approach is based on statistical distribution and correlation analysis, and it takes the individual variation and fluctuation caused by internal and external factors into consideration. Then 6550 transformer DGA data collected from North China Power Grid are analyzed in this paper. The results show that the volume fraction of TH (total hydrocarbon) approximately obeys normal distribution when the 3-sigma rule is used to calculate its caution value. The volume fraction of CO has a strong positive correlation with oil temperature. For H2, the negative correlation with oil temperature is significant when the volume fraction is not very low. The caution value curves for CO and H2 are obtained by regression analyses. Thus, the gas caution values/curves obtained using the new method are not always constant, but vary with oil temperature, which is an advantage of the proposed method compared with cumulative percentile method. 5First results of BDS positioning for LBS applications in the UK显示文摘The last satellite of BeiDou Navigation Satellite System with Global Coverage(BDS-3)constellation was successfully launched on June 23rd,2020,and the entire system began to provide Positioning,Navigation,and Timing(PNT)services worldwide.We evaluated the performance of location services using BDS with a smartphone that can track the Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)satellites in Nottingham,UK.The static and kinematic experiments were conducted in an open meadow and a lakeside route covered by trees,respectively.Experimental results show that BDS has good visibility,and its overall signal carrier-to-noise density ratio(C/N0)is comparable to that of Global Positioning System(GPS).The average C/N0 of BDS-3 satellites with elevation angles above 45°on B1 band is the highest among all systems,reaching 40.0 dB·Hz.The noise level of the BDS pseudorange measurements is within 0.5 m,and it has a good consistency among satellites.In the static experiment,the standard deviations of BDS position-ing in the east,north and up directions are 1.09,1.16,and 3.02 m,respectively,and the R95 value of the horizontal position is 2.88 m.In harsh environments,the number of BDS satellites tracked by the smartphone is susceptible to environmental factors.The bias Root Mean Squares(RMS)in the three directions of the whole kinematic positioning are 6.83,6.68,11.67 m,in which the positioning bias RMS values in a semi-open environment are only 2.81,1.11,3.29 m.Furthermore,the inclusion of BDS in multiple GNSS systems can significantly improve the positioning precision.This study intends to provide a reference for the further improvements of BDS global PNT services,particularly for Location-Based Services(LBS).Yan Xia Xiaolin Meng Yusong Yang Shuguo Pan Qing Zhao Wang Gao 2021Satellite Navigation2021,2,1:1

10Nanoparticle-enhanced coolants in machining:mechanism,application,and prospects显示文摘Nanoparticle-enhanced coolants(NPECs)are increasingly used in minimum quantity lubrication(MQL)machining as a green lubricant to replace conventional cutting fluids to meet the urgent need for carbon emissions and achieve sustainable manufacturing.However,the thermophysical properties of NPEC during processing remain unclear,making it difficult to provide precise guidance and selection principles for industrial applications.Therefore,this paper reviews the action mechanism,processing properties,and future development directions of NPEC.First,the laws of influence of nano-enhanced phases and base fluids on the processing performance are revealed,and the dispersion stabilization mechanism of NPEC in the preparation process is elaborated.Then,the unique molecular structure and physical properties of NPECs are combined to elucidate their unique mechanisms of heat transfer,penetration,and antifriction effects.Furthermore,the effect of NPECs is investigated on the basis of their excellent lubricating and cooling properties by comprehensively and quantitatively evaluating the material removal characteristics during machining in turning,milling,and grinding applications.Results showed that turning of Ti‒6Al‒4V with multi-walled carbon nanotube NPECs with a volume fraction of 0.2%resulted in a 34%reduction in tool wear,an average decrease in cutting force of 28%,and a 7%decrease in surface roughness Ra,compared with the conventional flood process.Finally,research gaps and future directions for further applications of NPECs in the industry are presented.Shuguo HU Changhe LI Zongming ZHOU Bo LIU Yanbin ZHANG Min YANG Benkai LI Teng GAO Mingzheng LIU Xin CUI Xiaoming WANG Wenhao XU Y.S.DAMBATTA Runze LI Shubham SHARMA 2023Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering2023,18,4:0
11Study on wear characteristics and authorized limits of switch rails of high-speed turnout显示文摘Purpose-It is quite universal for high-speed turnouts to be exposed to the wear of the stock rail of the switch rail during the service process.The wear will cause the change of railhead profile and the relative positions of the switch rail and the stock rail,which will directly affect the wheel-rail contact state and wheel load transition when a train passes the turnout and will further impose serious impacts on the safety and stability of train operation.The purpose of this paper is to provide suggestions for wear management of high-speed turnout.Design/methodology/approach-The actual wear characteristics of switch rails of high-speed turnouts in different guiding directions were studied based on the monitoring results on site;the authorized wear limits for the switch rails of high-speed turnout were studied through derailment risk analysis and switch rail strength analysis.Findings-The results show that:the major factor for the service life of a curved switch rail is the lateral wear.The wear characteristics of the curved switch rail of a facing turnout are significantly different from those of a trailing turnout.To be specific,the lateral wear of the curved switch rail mainly occurs in the narrower section at its front end for a trailing turnout,but in the wider section at its rear end when for a facing turnout.The maximum lateral wear of a dismounted switch rail from a trailing turnout is found on the 15-mm wide section and is 3.9 mm,which does not reach the specified limit of 6 mm.For comparison,the lateral wear of a dismounted switch rail from a facing turnout is found from the 35-mm wide section to the full-width section and is greater than 7.5 mm,which exceeds the specified limit.Based on this,in addition to meeting the requirements of maintenance rules,the allowed wear of switch rails of high-speed turnout shall be so that the dangerous area with a tangent angle of wheel profile smaller than 43.68 will not contact the switch rail when the wheel is lifted by 2 mm.Accordingly,the lateral wear limit at the 5-mm wide section of the curved switch rail shall be reduced from 6 mm(as specified)to 3.5 mm.Originality/value-The work in this paper is of reference significance to the research on the development law of rail wear in high-speed turnout area and the formulation of relevant standards.Pu Wang Shuguo Wang Jing Ge Daolin Si Dongsheng Yang 2023Railway Sciences2023,2,2:0
