| 2 | Basement Structure and Properties of the Western Junggar Basin, China显示文摘A comprehensive geophysical profile stretching from Qingyijing at the southern edge of the Junggar Basin to Ubara on the northern margin of the Junggar Basin was conducted in an attempt to probe the crustal structure of the western Junggar Basin(hereafter referred to simply as ‘the Basin'), and, in particular, the structure and property of the Basin's crystalline basement. A survey using seismically converted waves was conducted along this profile to determine the characteristics of the P-and Swave velocities typical of the crust and uppermost mantle. A joint inversion of gravitation and aeromagnetic data was also performed to acquire the density and magnetization intensity values found beneath the western Basin. This research revealed that the Basin is composed of the so-called Manasi terrain in the south, and the Wulungu terrain in the north. Their boundary is located along the WNW-trending Dishuiquan-Sangequan suture, linking the NE-striking Da'erbute suture(DS) in the west, and the WNWtrending Kalameili suture(KS) in the east. In its northern part, the Wulungu-type terrain has a doublelayered basement, of which the upper layer is a folded basement of Hercynian orogenic origin, and the lower layer is a crystalline basement of Middle–Upper Proterozoic age. The southern part of the Basin, i.e., the Manasi terrain, has a single-layered crystalline basement. | 3 | Catalyst-Free In Situ Carbon Nanotube Growth in Confined Space via High Temperature Gradient显示文摘Carbonaceous materials,such as graphite,carbon nanotubes(CNTs),and graphene,are in high demand for a broad range of applications,including batteries,capacitors,and composite materials.Studies on the transformation between diferent types of carbon,especially from abundant and low-cost carbon to high-end carbon allotropes,have received surging interest.Here,we report that,without a catalyst or an external carbon source,biomass-derived amorphous carbon and defective reduced graphene oxide(RGO)can be quickly transformed into CNTs in highly confned spaces by high temperature Joule heating.Combined with experimental measurements and molecular dynamics simulations,we propose that Joule heating induces a high local temperature at defect sites due to the corresponding high local resistance.Te resultant temperature gradient in amorphous carbon or RGO drives the migration of carbon atoms and promotes the growth of CNTs without using a catalyst or external carbon source.Our fndings on the growth of CNTs in confned spaces by fast high temperature Joule heating shed light on the controlled transition between diferent carbon allotropes,which can be extended to the growth of other high aspect ratio nanomaterials. | Chaoji Chen Yanan Chen Shuze Zhu Jiaqi Dai Glenn Pastel Yonggang Yao Dapeng Liu Yanbin Wang Jiayu Wan Teng Li Wei Luo Liangbing Hu | 2018 | Research2018,,1: | 2 |

| 10 | Metallic and highly conducting two-dimensional atomic arrays of sulfur enabled by molybdenum disulfide nanotemplate显示文摘Element sulfur in nature is an insulating solid.While it has been tested that one-dimensional sulfur chain is metallic and conducting,the investigation on two-dimensional sulfur remains elusive.We report that molybdenum disulfide layers are able to serve as the nanotemplate to facilitate the formation of two-dimensional sulfur.Density functional theory calculations suggest that confined inbetween layers of molybdenum disulfide,sulfur atoms are able to form two-dimensional triangular arrays that are highly metallic.As a result,these arrays contribute to the high conductivity and metallic phase of the hybrid structures of molybdenum disulfide layers and two-dimensional sulfur arrays.The experimentally measured conductivity of such hybrid structures reaches up to 223 S/m.Multiple experimental results,including X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),transition electron microscope(TEM),selected area electron diffraction(SAED),agree with the computational insights.Due to the excellent conductivity,the current density is linearly proportional to the scan rate until 30,000 mV s^(−1) without the attendance of conductive additives.Using such hybrid structures as electrode,the two-electrode supercapacitor cells yield a power density of 10^(6) Wh kg^(−1) and energy density ~47.5 Wh kg^(−1) in ionic liquid electrolytes.Our findings offer new insights into using two-dimensional materials and their Van der Waals heterostructures as nanotemplates to pattern foreign atoms for unprecedented material properties. | Shuze Zhu Xiumei Geng Yang Han Mourad Benamara Liao Chen Jingxiao Li Ismail Bilgin Hongli Zhu | 2017 | npj Computational Materials2017,,1: | 1 |
