1Simulated-sunlight-activated photocatalysis of Methylene Blue using cerium-doped SiO_2/TiO_2 nanostructured fibers显示文摘Cerium-doped SiO 2 /TiO 2 nanostructured fibers were fabricated by electrospinning technology.The prepared fibers were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis(TGA),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR).Using the fibers as catalysts,photocatalytic degradation of Methylene Blue(MB) aqueous solution was carried out under simulated sunlight.The 0.2% Ce doping proved to be the optimal concentration for the doping of TiO 2 /SiO 2,compared to other Ce-doped molar concentrations.The 0.2% Ce-doped SiO 2 /TiO 2 fibers exhibited higher photocatalytic activity than industrial Degussa P25 and the samples doped with only Ce or SiO 2.The reasons for improving the photocatalytic activity were also discussed.Several operational parameters were studied,which showed that the photocatalytic efficiency of MB was influenced by parameters such as the initial dye concentration,the initial pH,inorganic anions,and so on.In addition,the influences of an electron acceptor and a radical scavenger suggested that OH was the dominant photooxidant during the photocatalytic process.The reuse evaluation of the fibers indicated that their photocatalytic activity had good stability.Yu Liu Hongbing Yu Zhenning Lv Sihui Zhan Jiangyao Yang Xinhong Peng Yixuan Ren Xiaoyan Wu 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,10:10

3Microstructure control of organic semiconductors via UV-ozone for high-sensitivity NO2 detection显示文摘Developing high sensitive organic semiconductors(OSCs)in organic thin-film transistors(OTFTs)is the key for OTFT based gas sensors.Herein,we report a simple processing route of highly sensitive OSCs for high performance OTFT based nitrogen dioxide(NO2)sensors,where the active OSC layer is based on ultraviolet-ozone(UVO)treated poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl)(P3HT).Compared to conventional P3HT based OTFT sensors,the reported device exhibits a remarkable improvement of the gas response from 350%to 30000%.The studies in morphologies,chemical compositions and microstructures of the UVOtreated films reveal that a large number of carrier traps generated in the P3HT films is the decisive reason for the enhancement of sensing performance.Moreover,the optimized device shows great potential of practical applications on the stand points of sensitivity,selectivity,reusability and the ability of recovery,as well as limit of detection of~7.3 ppb.This simple method provides an innovative understanding for the role of the carrier traps in sensing performance and demonstrates a bright future for developing high performance OTFT gas sensors.HOU SiHui FAN HuiDong WU MengGe YU XinGe YU JunSheng 2021Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,5:2
4Asymptomatic patients and asymptomatic phases of Coronavirus Disease 2019(COVID-19):a population-based surveillance study显示文摘In this population-based study,we identified 307 confirmed COVID-19 cases from massive surveillance,including 129551 individuals screened at fever clinics or returning from Hubei and 3710 close contacts of confirmed COVID-19 patients.Among them,17 patients were asymptomatic at initial clinical assessment.These asymptomatic patients on admission accounted for a small proportion of all patients(5.54%)with relatively weak transmissibility,and the detection rate was 0.35 per 100 close contacts.Moreover,the dynamics of symptoms of the 307 patients showed that the interval from symptom remission to the final negativity of viral nucleic acid was 5.0 days(interquartile range 2.0 to 11.0 days),with 14 patients(4.56%)having re-detectable viral RNA after discharge.Overall;our findings suggested asymptomatic carriers and presymptomatic patients only accounted for a small proportion of COVID-19 patients.Also,the asymptomatic phase during recovery from COVID-19 implied that negativity in viral RNA is necessary as a de-isolation criterion and follow-up is recommended.Xueying Zheng Sihui Luo Yong Sun Mingfeng Han Jian Liu Liangye Sun Liangming Zhang Ping Ling Yu Ding Tengchuan Jin Zhirong Liu Jianping Weng 2020National Science Review2020,7,10:2

8The zinc finger transcription factor,KLF2,protects against COVID-19 associated endothelial dysfunction显示文摘Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is regarded as an endothelial disease(endothelialitis)with its patho-mechanism being incompletely understood.Emerging evidence has demonstrated that endothelial dysfunction precipitates COVID-19 and its accompanying multi-organ injuries.Thus,pharmacotherapies targeting endothelial dysfunction have potential to ameliorate COVID-19 and its cardiovascular complications.The objective of the present study is to evaluate whether kruppel-like factor 2(KLF2),a master regulator of vascular homeostasis,represents a therapeutic target for C0VID-19-induced endothelial dysfunction.Here,we demonstrate that the expression of KLF2 was reduced and monocyte adhesion was increased in endothelial cells treated with COVID-19 patient serum due to elevated levels of pro-adhesive molecules,ICAM1 and VCAM1.IL-1β and TNF-α;two cytokines elevated in cytokine release syndrome in COVID-19 patients,decreased KLF2 gene expression.Pharmacologic(atorvastatin and tannic acid)and genetic(adenoviral overexpression)approaches to augment KLF2 levels attenuated COVID-19-serum-induced increase in endothelial inflammation and monocyte adhesion.Next-generation RNA-sequencing data showed that atorvastatin treatment leads to a cardiovascular protective transcriptome associated with improved endothelial function(vasodilation,antiinflammation,antioxidant status,anti-thrombosis/-coagulation,anti-fibrosis,and reduced angiogenesis).Finally,knockdown of KLF2 partially reversed the ameliorative effect of atorvastatin on COVID-19-serum-induced endothelial inflammation and monocyte adhesion.Collectively,the present study implicates loss of KLF2 as an important molecular event in the development of COVID-19-induced vascular disease and suggests that efforts to augment KLF2 levels may be therapeutically beneficial.Suowen Xu Yujie Liu Yu Ding Sihui Luo Xueying Zheng Xiumei Wu Zhenghong Liu Iqra Ilyas Suyu Chen Shuxin Han Peter J.Little Mukesh K.Jain Jianping Weng 2021Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,8:1

15A magnetically enabled simulation of microgravity represses the auxin response during early seed germination on a microfluidic platform显示文摘For plants on Earth,the phytohormone auxin is essential for gravitropism-regulated seedling establishment and plant growth.However,little is known about auxin responses under microgravity conditions due to the lack of a tool that can provide an alteration of gravity.In this paper,a microfluidic negative magnetophoretic platform is developed to levitate Arabidopsis seeds in an equilibrium plane where the applied magnetic force compensates for gravitational acceleration.With the benefit of the microfluidic platform to simulate a microgravity environment on-chip,it is found that the auxin response is significantly repressed in levitated seeds.Simulated microgravity statistically interrupts auxin responses in embryos,even after chemical-mediated auxin alterations,illustrating that auxin is a critical factor that mediates the plant response to gravity alteration.Furthermore,pretreatment with an auxin transportation inhibitor(N-1-naphthylphthalamic acid)enables a decrease in the auxin response,which is no longer affected by simulated microgravity,demonstrating that polar auxin transportation plays a vital role in gravity-regulated auxin responses.The presented microfluidic platform provides simulated microgravity conditions in an easy-to-implement manner,helping to study and elucidate how plants correspond to diverse gravity conditions;in the future,this may be developed into a versatile tool for biological study on a variety of samples.Jing Du Lin Zeng Zitong Yu Sihui Chen Xi Chen Yi Zhang Hui Yang 2022Microsystems & Nanoengineering2022,8,1:0

17Emerging mechanisms and implications of c GAS-STING signaling in cancer immunotherapy strategies显示文摘The intricate interplay between the human immune system and cancer development underscores the central role of immunotherapy in cancer treatment.Within this landscape,the innate immune system,a critical sentinel protecting against tumor incursion,is a key player.The cyclic GMP-AMP synthase(c GAS)and stimulator of interferon genes(STING)pathway has been found to be a linchpin of innate immunity:activation of this signaling pathway orchestrates the production of type I interferon(IFN-α/β),thus fostering the maturation,differentiation,and mobilization of immune effectors in the tumor microenvironment.Furthermore,STING activation facilitates the release and presentation of tumor antigens,and therefore is an attractive target for cancer immunotherapy.Current strategies to activate the STING pathway,including use of pharmacological agonists,have made substantial advancements,particularly when combined with immune checkpoint inhibitors.These approaches have shown promise in preclinical and clinical settings,by enhancing patient survival rates.This review describes the evolving understanding of the c GAS-STING pathway's involvement in tumor biology and therapy.Moreover,this review explores classical and non-classical STING agonists,providing insights into their mechanisms of action and potential for optimizing immunotherapy strategies.Despite challenges and complexities,the c GAS-STING pathway,a promising avenue for enhancing cancer treatment efficacy,has the potential to revolutionize patient outcomes.Jiawen Zhang Sihui Yu Qiao Peng Ping Wang Lan Fang 2024Cancer Biology & Medicine2024,21,1:0

19Intrapartum and early postpartum glycemic profiles in women with gestational diabetes mellitus:an observational study显示文摘Background: Data on the glycemic profile of pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) during the perinatal period are sparse. This study described the intrapartum and early postpartum glucose profiles among pregnant women with GDM, and analyzed factors potentially affecting glycemic parameters during the period.Methods: This was a prospective observational study conducted from March 2020 to November 2021. Pregnant women with GDM receiving lifestyle interventions alone during pregnancy and matched women with non-diabetic pregnancies (NDPs) were enrolled from among patients admitted to the obstetrics department for childbirth. Glucose monitoring was performed via a flash glucose monitoring (FGM) system on admission, and glucose readings during labor and early postpartum were analyzed. The clinical characteristics and FGM-based parameters of participants in the two groups were compared.Results: A total of 124 participants (mean age: 29.5 ± 3.5 years, 92 [74.2%] primipara) were included in the final analysis. A total of 17,571 glucose readings were retrieved. There were no significant differences in clinical characteristics between the GDM (n = 60) and NDP (n = 64) groups. The average glucose level was 92.2 mg/dL, and the level was higher in the GDM group (95.5 ± 12.1 mg/dLvs. 89.1 ± 13.4 mg/dL,P = 0.008) during the intrapartum and early postpartum periods. The data were split into the intrapartum period (from the start of labor to delivery of the placenta) and the early postpartum period (within 24 h after placental delivery) for analysis. During intrapartum, women with GDM exhibited glycemic profiles and fluctuations similar to those in the NDP group. However, women with GDM had higher postpartum glucose levels (97.7 ± 13.4 mg/dLvs. 90.8 ± 15.3 mg/dL,P = 0.009), a longer time spent >140 mg/dL (8.7 ± 9.3%vs. 5.9 ± 10.3%,P = 0.011), and greater glycemic fluctuations than those with NDP. Postpartum hyperglycemia in GDM might be associated with high parity and postprandial glucose abnormalities in GDM screening tests.Conclusion: Compared to those with normoglycemia, pregnant women with GDM receiving lifestyle interventions alone had similar intrapartum glucose profiles but higher early postpartum glucose levels and greater glucose variability, providing evidence for modification of the current perinatal glucose monitoring strategy for GDM.Trial Registration: ChiCTR.org.cn, ChiCTR2000030972.Yu Ding Xueying Zheng Yujie Liu Tian Wei Tong Yue Siqi Wang Suyu Chen Jianping Weng Sihui Luo 2022Chinese Medical Journal2022,135,21:0
