| 1 | Developmental Tendency of Dry Land Farming Technologies显示文摘The developmental tendency of dry land farming technologies in the semiarid area of China were reviewed based on the overview of recent progress in dry land farming researches from China and oversea. It was emphasized that conservation tillage, limited irrigation, genetic modification and chemical control are the important aspects for the dry land farming research and development of the future. In addition, some considerations and suggestions on above-mentioned aspects were proposed in this paper. | SHAN Lun(Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Ministry of Water Resources, Northwest Sci-Tech University of Agriculture and Forestry, Yangling 712100, P. | 2 | Distribution of Crystal Organic Fertilizer-N in Soil-plant System显示文摘The distribution of crystal organic fertilizer, urea and compound fertilizer-N in soil and plant system was researched with 15N-trace under tobacco pot experiment. The results showed that the leaf yield of tobacco used crystal organic fertilizer was 23.1% and 14.6 % higher than that of urea and compound fertilizer treatments respectively. Compound fertilizer also resulted in higher yield of 8.5% comparing with the urea treatment. Nitrogen content of the plant from the crystal organic fertilizer treatment was 138.6% and 145.7% as high as that of the compound fertilizer and urea treatments respectively. The absorbed N from the organic fertilizer was 25.1% and 27.9% more than that from the compound fertilizer and urea respectively. However, the absorbed N from the soil with the organic fertilizer was 47.4% and 58.3% more than that with compound fertilizer and urea respectively. The N use efficiency of the organic fertilizer was 9.4% and 10.1%higher than that of the compound fertilizer and urea. It indicated that the crystal organic fertilizer not only had high N use efficiency, but also stimulated tobacco taking up more N from soil. | LIU Yi-xin, HAN Yi-wang, WANG Yan-ting, HONG Li-fang XU Xi-min,TANG Shen, LIN Guan-ya and LIU Wu-ding(Department of Environmental Science , Institute of Earth and Space , University of Science and Technology of China , Hefei 230026 , P. | 3 | Rock Phosphate Solubilization Mechanisms of One Fungus and One Bacterium显示文摘Many microorganisms can dissolve the insoluble phosphates like apatite. However, the mechanisms are still not clear. This study was an attempt to investigate the mechanisms of rock phosphate solubilization by an Aspergillus 2TCiF2 and an Arthrobacter1TCRi7. The results indicated that the fungus produced a large amount of organic acids, mainly oxalic acid. The total quantity of the organic acids produced by the fungus was 550 times higher than that by the bacterium. Different organic acids had completely different capacities to solubilize the rock. Oxalic acid and citric acid had stronger capacity to dissolve the rock than malic acid, tartaric acid, lactic acid, acetic acid, malonic acid and succinic acid. The fungus solubilized the rock through excreting both proton and organic acids. The rock solubilization of the bacterium depended on only proton. | LIN Qi-mei, ZHAO Xiaorong, ZHAO Zi-juan and LI Bao-guo(Department of Soil and Water Sciences , China Agricultural University , Beijing 100094 , P. | 4 | Paleosol evolution and environmental change in the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain, China显示文摘Paleosols in the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain occur mainly in the Huaibei, Xuhuai, Yischuheand Jiaolai areas. They result from 3 sedimentation-soil formation cycles since the LatePleistocene. Each cycle left calcareous concretions, a dark soil horizon, and a topsoil horizonand/or a stratified soil horizon all derived from loess. This paper examines the composition of theconcretions, compares this with that of the enclosing soil horizons, and draws some environmentalconclusions. Three types occur: embryonic calcareous concretions, mature calcareous concretions, and calcareous hardpans (petrocalcic horizons). The embryonic concretions formed during themid-Holocene (6780±130 yr. B.P.), mature calcareous concretions during the late-Pleistocene(weighted average of 31 samples = 15670±370 yr. B.P.), and calcareous hardpans (petrocalcichorizons) from 16 to 40 ka B.P. The calcium carbonate content increases from 412 g/kg in theembryonic concretions, to 551 g/kg in the mature concretions, and to 691 g/kg in the hardpan, whereas contents of SiO2, Al2O3 and TiO2 decrease accordingly. Spore pollen analysis shows thatthe late-Pleistocene there was dry and cool, whereas the mid-Holocene was warm and humid andlakes were more extensive than today. | LIU Liangwu GONG Zitong Institute of Soil Science. | 18 | Study on the Root Systems for Different Types of Winter Wheat显示文摘Root growth traits for different wheat types varied during the growth cycle. The root system of 93 Zhong 6, which is a dwarf, big-ear variety, reached its highest density at anthesis, while the root density of Zhoumai 13, a medium-type variety, demonsrated its highest value during the node elongation stage and decreased rapidly at later growth stages, which resulted in lower yield. The root density of Zhongyu 6 and 98Zhong 18, high yield potential, multiple ears varieties, did not show observable variation in their root systems during their growth cycles. | YAN Su-hong, YANG Zhao-sheng, WAN Jun-juan, LI Tie-zhuang, WANG Hai-feng( Cotton Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural sciences, Anyang 455112, P.R.China Seed Manager Station of Henan Province, Zhengzhou 450002, P.
