2Critical role of SDF-1/CXCR4 signaling pathway in stem cell homing in the deafened rat cochlea after acoustic trauma显示文摘Previous animal studies have shown that stromal cell-derived factor-1(SDF-1)/CXC chemokine receptor-4(CXCR4) signaling pathway plays an important role in the targeted migration of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs) to the injured area. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the potential role of chemotactic SDF-1/CXCR4 signaling pathway in the homing of transplanted BMSCs to the injured cochlea after noise-induced hearing loss(NIHL) in a rat model. White noise exposure(110 d B) paradigm was used for hearing loss induction in male rats for 6 hours in 5 days. Distortion-product otoacoustic emission(DPOAE) responses were recorded before the experiment and post noise exposure. Hoechst 33342-labeled BMSCs and CXCR4 antagonist(AMD3100)-treated BMSCs were injected into the rat cochlea through the round window. SDF-1 protein expression in the cochlear tissue was assayed using western blot assay. The number of labeled BMSCs reaching the endolymph was determined after 24 hours. SDF-1 was significantly increased in the cochlear tissue of rats in the noise exposure group than in the control group. The number of Hoechst 33342-labeled BMSCs reaching the endolymph of the cochlea was significantly smaller in the AMD3100-treated BMSCs group than in the normal BMSCs group. 3Kaempferol attenuates cognitive deficit via regulating oxidative stress and neuroinflammation in an ovariectomized rat model of sporadic dementia显示文摘Alzheimer's disease(AD) is associated with oxidative stress, and ultimately results in cognitive deficit. Despite existing literature on the pathophysiology of AD, there is currently no cure for AD. The present study investigated the effects of kaempferol(Kmp) isolated from the extract of Mespilus germanica L.(medlar) leaves on cognitive impairment, hippocampal antioxidants, apoptosis, lipid peroxidation and neuro-inflammation markers in ovariectomized(OVX) rat models of sporadic AD. Kaempferol, as the main flavonoid of medlar extract has been previously known for anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory and anti-neurotoxic effects. Thirty-two female Wistar rats were ovariectomized, and randomly divided into four groups: sham, OVX + saline, OVX + streptozotocin(STZ) + saline, OVX + STZ + Kmp. Animals received intracerebroventricular injection of STZ(3 mg/kg, twice with one day interval) to establish models of sporadic AD. Intraperitoneal injection of Kmp(10 mg/kg) for 21 days was performed in the OVX + STZ + Kmp group. Spatial learning and memory of rats were evaluated using a Morris water maze. Finally, brain homogenates were used for biochemical analysis by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The results showed a significant improvement in spatial learning and memory as evidenced by shortened escape latency and searching distance in Morris water maze in the OVX + STZ + Kmp group compared with the OVX + STZ group. Kmp also exhibited significant elevations in brain levels of antioxidant enzymes of superoxide dismutase and glutathione, while reduction in tumor necrosis factor-α and malondialdehyde. Our results demonstrate that Kmp is capable of alleviating STZ-induced memory impairment in OVX rats, probably by elevating endogenous hippocampal antioxidants of superoxide dismutase and glutathione, and reducing neuroinflammation. 4Hepatitis C virus core protein modulates several signaling pathways involved in hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is the fifth most common cancer, and hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection plays a major role in HCC development. The molecular mechanisms by which HCV infection leads to HCC are varied. HCV core protein is an important risk factor in HCV-associated liver pathogenesis and can modulate several signaling pathways involved in cell cycle regulation, cell growth promotion, cell proliferation, apoptosis, oxidative stress and lipid metabolism. The dysregulation of signaling pathways such as transforming growth factor β(TGF-β), vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF), Wnt/β-catenin(WNT), cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α(PPARα) by HCV core protein is implicated in the development of HCC. Therefore, it has been suggested that this protein be considered a favorable target for further studies in the development of HCC. In addition, considering the axial role of these signaling pathways in HCC, they are considered druggable targets for cancer therapy. 512 hours after cerebral ischemia is the optimal time for bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell transplantation显示文摘Cell therapy using stem cell transplantation against cerebral ischemia has been reported. However, it remains controversial regarding the optimal time for cell transplantation and the transplantation route. Rat models of cerebral ischemia were established by occlusion of the middle cerebral artery. At 1, 12 hours, 1, 3, 5 and 7 days after cerebral ischemia, bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells were injected via the tail vein. At 28 days after cerebral ischemia, rat neurological function was evaluated using a 6-point grading scale and the pathological change of ischemic cerebral tissue was observed by hematoxylin-eosin staining. Under the fluorescence microscope, the migration of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells was examined by PKH labeling. Caspase-3 activity was measured using spectrophotometry. The optimal neurological function recovery, lowest degree of ischemic cerebral damage, greatest number of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells migrating to peri-ischemic area, and lowest caspase-3 activity in the ischemic cerebral tissue were observed in rats that underwent bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell transplantation at 12 hours after cerebral ischemia. 6Effects of probiotic supplementation on abdominal pain severity in pediatric patients with irritable bowel syndrome:a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials显示文摘Background Probiotic supplementation has been used to alleviate abdominal pain in children and adolescents with irritable bowel syndrome(IBS),but the evidence is not compelling.Thus,a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials(RCTs)were performed to investigate the effects of probiotic supplementation on abdominal pain in pediatric patients with IBS.Methods PubMed/MEDLINE,Web of Science,Scopus,Cochrane Library,and Embase were the available databases searched to find relevant randomized clinical trials up to April 2021.The effect size was expressed as weighted mean differenee(WMD)and 95% confidence interval(CI).Results Seven RCTs with 441 participants were included,from which the meta-analysis demonstrated that probiotic supplementation has a significant effect on reducing abdominal pain in pediatric patients with IBS(WMD=-2.36:95%CI-4.12 to-0.60;P=0.009).Although our study involved children and adolescents(≤18 years),the effects of probiotic supplementation seem to be more potent in patients under 10 years old(WMD=-2.55;95%CI-2.84 to -2.27)compared to patients aged 10-18 years(WMD=-1.70;95%CI-2.18 to -1.22).The length of supplementation longer than four weeks was more effective(WMD=-2.43;95%CI-2.76 to -2.09).Conclusion Probiotic supplementation can reduce abdominal pain in pediatric patients with IBS.Somayeh Fatahi Amirhossein Hosseini Mohammad Hassan Sohouli Aliakbar Sayyari Katayoun Khatami Zahra Fazeli Farsani Hamzeh Amiri Naghi Dara Ivan G.O.de Souza Heitor O.Santos 2022World Journal of Pediatrics2022,18,5:5
7Comparing the deactivation behaviour of Co/CNT and Co/γ-Al_2O_3 nano catalysts in Fischer-Tropsch synthesis显示文摘An extensive study of Fischer-Tropsch (FT) synthesis on cobalt nano particles supported on γ-alumina and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) catalysts is reported.20 wt% of cobalt is loaded on the supports by impregnation method.The deactivation of the two catalysts was studied at 220 C,2 MPa and 2.7 L/h feed flow rate using a fixed bed micro-reactor.The calcined fresh and used catalysts were characterized extensively and different sources of catalyst deactivation were identified.Formation of cobalt-support mixed oxides in the form of xCoO yAl2O3 and cobalt aluminates formation were the main sources of the Co/γ-Al2O3 catalyst deactivation.However sintering and cluster growth of cobalt nano particles are the main sources of the Co/CNTs catalyst deactivation.In the case of the Co/γ-Al2O3 catalyst,after 720 h on stream of continuous FT synthesis the average cobalt nano particles diameter increased from 15.9 to 18.4 nm,whereas,under the same reaction conditions the average cobalt nano particles diameter of the Co/CNTs increased from 11.2 to 17.8 nm.Although,the initial FT activity of the Co/CNTs was 26% higher than that of the Co/γ-Al2O3,the FT activity over the Co/CNTs after 720 h on stream decreased by 49% and that over the Co/γ-Al2O3 by 32%.For the Co/γ-Al2O3 catalyst 6.7% of total activity loss and for the Co/CNTs catalyst 11.6% of total activity loss cannot be recovered after regeneration of the catalyst at the same conditions of the first regeneration step.It is concluded that using CNTs as cobalt catalyst support is beneficial in carbon utilization as compared to γ-Al2O3 support,but the Co/CNTs catalyst is more susceptible for deactivation.Ahmad Tavasoli Saba Karimi Somayeh Taghavi Zahra Zolfaghari Hamideh Amirfirouzkouhi 2012Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2012,21,5:4
8Sensing behavior of BN nanosheet toward nitrous oxide: A DFT study显示文摘In order to develop a sensor for the detection of toxic N2 O molecules, the interaction of pristine and Aldoped BN nanosheets with an N2 O molecule was investigated using density functional theory calculations. It was found that unlike the pristine sheet, the Al-doped sheet can effectively interact with the N2 O molecule so that its electronic properties and conductivity are dramatically changed. 10Chronic exercise training versus acute endurance exercise in reducing neurotoxicity in rats exposed to lead acetate显示文摘After intraperitoneal injection of 20 mg/kg lead acetate,rats received 8 weeks of treadmill exercise (15-22 m/min,25-64 minutes) and/or treadmill exercise at 1.6 km/h until exhaustion.The markers related to neurotoxicity were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method.8 weeks of treadmill exercise significantly increased brain-derived neurotrophic factor level in the hippocampus (P=0.04) and plasma level of total antioxidant capacity of rats exposed to lead acetate (P < 0.001),and significantly decreased plasma level of malondialdehyde (P < 0.001).Acute exercise only decreased the hippocampal malondialdehyde level (P=0.09) and increased brain-derived neurotrophic factor level in the hippocampus (P=0.66).Acute exercise also enhanced the total antioxidant capacity in rats exposed to lead acetate,insignificantly (P=0.99).These findings suggest that chronic treadmill exercise can significantly decrease neurotoxicity and alleviate oxidative stress in rats exposed to lead acetate.However,acute endurance exercise was not associated with these beneficial effects.Mohammad Shahandeh Valiollah Dabidi Roshan Somayeh Hosseinzadeh Soleiman Mahjoub Vaginak Sarkisian 2013Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,8:3

12Traditional and modern aspects of hemorrhoid treatment in Iran:a review显示文摘Hemorrhoidal disease is a prevalent anorectal condition which is generally not managed well with current pharmacologic interventions. However, in Iranian traditional medicine(ITM) there are numerous plants with hemorrhoid-healing properties. The present research assembled plants with hemorrhoidhealing properties in ITM; their related pharmacological effects, phytochemical constituents and mechanisms of action in the modern medicine were also gathered. For this purpose, leading ITM textbooks were searched for plants with hemorrhoid-healing effects. Further, in vitro, in vivo and clinical studies on the most cited species were considered using scientific databases. Studying ITM textbooks revealed37 medicinal plants with hemorrhoid-healing effects. Among the mentioned herbal medicines, six species, including Allium ampeloprasum, Phyllanthus emblica, Aloe vera, Terminalia chebula, Vitis vinifera and Commiphora mukul, had the largest number of related pharmacological effects documented in scientific databases. 14In vitro antiproliferative and apoptosis-inducing activities of crude ethyle alcohole extract of Quercus brantii L.acorn and subsequent fractions显示文摘Cancer cell resistance to widely used chemotherapeutic agents is gradually developed. Natural products, mainly isolated from medicinal plants, have been considered as valuable sources for herbal anticancer drugs. The present study aimed to evaluate in vitro antiproliferative and apoptosis-inducing activities of crude ethyle alcohole extract and four fractions of Q. brantii acorn. Crude ethyle alcohole extract of Q. brantii acorn was prepared and subjected to fractionation with different polarity. Subsequently, the extract and the fractions wereevaluated for their in vitro antiproliferative activity in two cancerous(Hela and AGS) and one normal(HDFs) cell lines using MTT [3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2ol) 2, 5 diphenyltetrazoliumbromide] assay. To determine whether the cytotoxicity of these compounds involved the induction of apoptosis, Hela cells were treated with IC_(50) concentrations of test compounds, stained with both propidium iodide(PI) and Annexin V-fluorescein isothiocyanate(FITC), and analyzed by flow cytometry. In vitro cytotoxicity assay showed that the cell viability was significantly reduced in a dose-dependent manner following treatment with crude ethyle alcohole extract and Cholophorm and n-Butanol fractions. Based on the probit regression model, antiproliferative activities of crude ethyle alcohole extract, Cholophorm fraction, and n-Butanol fraction on Hela and AGS cells and HDFs cells were significantly different(P < 0.001). The results of flow cytometric analysis showed that crude ethyle alcohole extract and two fractions of Q. brantii acorn induced early apoptotic cell death. 19Lighting preferences in office spaces concerning the indoor thermal environment显示文摘The accurate prediction of the visual comfort zone in an indoor environment is difficult as it depends on many parameters.This is especially the case for large compact urban areas in which the density and shadow from neighboring buildings can limit the accessible daylighting in indoor spaces.This paper investigates the satisfaction range for illuminance regarding indoor air temperature in office buildings and the significant parameters affecting this range in six office buildings in Tehran,Iran.Lighting comfort has been evaluated by a subjective survey(509 total responses)and field measurement.The questionnaires were filled out in 146 and 109 rooms in summer and winter,respectively.The results show that the illuminance should not be less than 550 lx,while illuminance between 600 and 650 lx provides the highest satisfaction level.The satisfaction with lighting level is affected by individual parameters such as age,type of activity,and environmental parameters such as window orientation,external obscurations,and season.A relationship was observed between lighting level satisfaction and thermal condition acceptance,and the overall comfort depends more on thermal conditions than the lighting level.Maryam Fakhari Rima Fayaz Somayeh Asadi 2021Frontiers of Architectural Research2021,10,3:2
