1Application of ventilation simulation to spontaneous combustion control in underground coal mine:A case study from Bulianta colliery显示文摘Spontaneous combustion of residual coal in longwall goaf is a long standing hazard. Airflow leakage into goaf is a major driver to the hazard and this issue deteriorates where longwalls are operating in multiple seams and shallow covers because mining-induced cracks are very likely to draw fresh airflow into goaf due to presence of pressure differential between longwall face and surface. To study the problem more critically, a ventilation simulation package ‘‘Ventsim' is used to conduct a case study from Bulianta colliery. It was found that isolating and pressurizing active longwall panel can mitigate the problem and the pressure differential can be adjusted by varying performance of auxiliary fan and resistance of ventilation regulator. A booster ventilation system can also mitigate the problem by adjusting fan duties. 2Roles of various Ni species on TiO2 in enhancing photocatalytic H2 evolution显示文摘Low-cost nickels can be used as cocatalyst to improve the performance of photocatalysts,which may be promising materials applied in the field of photocatalytic water splitting.In this study,different nickel species Ni,Ni(OH)2,NiO,NiOx,and NiS are used to modified titanium dioxide(P25)to investigate their roles on the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution activities.UV-visible,X-ray diffraction(XRD),Brunner-Emmet-Teller(BET)measurements,transmission electron microscopy(TEM),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)analysis etc.are employed to characterize the physical and chemical properties of catalysts.The results indicate that all the nickel species can improve the photocatalytic hydrogen production activity of P25.The P25 modified with NiOx and NiS has more superior photocatalytic hydrogen evolution activities than those modified with other nickel species.The reason for this is that NiOx and NiS can form p-n junctions with P25 respectively.In addition,NiOx can be selectively deposited on the active sites of P25 via in situ the photodeposition method and NiS is beneficial for H+reacting with photo-excited electrons.Xiaoping CHEN Jihai XIONG Jinming SHI Song XIA Shuanglin GUI Wenfeng SHANGGUAN 2019Frontiers in Energy2019,13,4:2
3Structural changes of a bacteriophage upon DNA packaging and maturation显示文摘Dear Editor,Tailed,double-stranded DNA(dsDNA)bacteriophages,which belong to the order of Caudovirales,have a tail attached to a pentameric vertex of the icosahedral capsid shell(head)through a 12-fold portal(Johnson and Chiu,2007).The phages package genomic dsDNA into a round procapsid using the portal in complex with an ATP-dependent terminase complex as the motor.During packaging,the procapsid shell expands to a more angular intermediate to match the size of the viral genome(Guo et al.,2014).When the phage head is full,the portal detects internal pressure and conveys a signal from the inner capsid to the exterior,which triggers a sequence of events-the terminase complex cleaving mature DNA genome from a multi-genome concatemer,the release of the terminase complex from the portal,and the attachment of the tail complex-in the completion of phage assembly(Lander et al.,2006;Johnson and Chiu,2007).At the beginning of phage infection,the tail is responsible for receptor recognition,and the portal and tail act as a tunnel for DNA delivery into the host cytoplasm(Johnson and Chiu,2007).These mechanisms of DNA packaging and ejection may also be conserved in many other DNA viruses,including herpesvirus(Wang et al.,2020;Yang et al.,2020).Wenyuan Chen Hao Xiao Xurong Wang Shuanglin Song Zhen Han Xiaowu Li Fan Yang Li Wang Jingdong Song Hongrong Liu Lingpeng Cheng 2020Protein & Cell2020,11,5:1
4Anaerobic co-digestion of thermo-alkaline pretreated microalgae and sewage sludge: Methane potential and microbial community显示文摘To improve methane production from sewage sludge(SS),co-digestion of SS and microalgae(MA)was studied and the application of thermo-alkaline pretreatment to MA was evaluated.The results showed that thermo-alkaline pretreatment at 90℃ for 120 min on MA was the optimum pretreatment condition.Furthermore,when the volatile solids(VS)ratio of SS and MA was 1:2,the methane yield reached maximum(368.94 mL/g VS).Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR)and thermogravimetric analysis confirmed the synergetic effects of thermoalkaline pretreated MA on its co-digestion with SS.The analyses of microbial community indicated that Methanobacterium and Methanosarcina were the dominant methanogens during the co-digestion process.However,the relative abundance of Methanosarcina in thermoalkaline pretreated groups was higher compared to unpretreated groups.The microbial community structure might be affected by thermo-alkaline pretreatment rather than by the MA dosage in the co-digestion.Jiaqi Fu Bing Yan Shuanglin Gui Yinxuan Fu Song Xia 2023Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,5:0

6Genetic Improvement in Juglans mandshurica and Its Uses in China:Current Status and Future Prospects显示文摘Juglans mandshurica is an economically and ecologically valuable species that is used for various construction purposes,making luxurious furniture,as food and sources of medicinal substances and landscaping because of its excellent wood,edible fruits and rich in various types of chemical compounds.In the past few decades,several genetic improvements of J.mandshurica were made,with a focus on the selection of improved varieties and on breeding technology.Many elite provenances and families were selected based on growth traits or wood properties.In recent years,with the increasing demand for high-quality seedlings in Chinese forestry production,the breeding goals of genetic improvement for J.mandshurica were redefined to include other traits,such as fruit yield and contents of medicinal component.However,the improvement processes were still slow due to the long breeding cycle and the limited use of advanced breeding technologies,resulting in the selection of fewer improved varieties.In this review,we summarized the research progresses on genetic improvements of J.mandshurica and other related works,and discussed research gaps and suggested future directions for genetic improvement of the species.The review provides valuable insight for the selection of improved varieties and production of excellent germplasms.Shikai Zhang Wang Zhan Heng Zhang Shuanglin Song Xibin Qu Jiayi Wang Mulualem Tigabu Xiang Li Qinhui Zhang Minghui Zhao Huanzhen Liu Xiyang Zhao 2022Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2022,91,3:0
