2A new model for the grid size optimization of the finite element method——Based on its application to the water quality modeling of the topographically complicated river显示文摘The finite element method is one of the typical methods that are used for numerical water quality modeling of the topographically complicated river. In this paper, based on the principle of probability theory the probability density of pollutants is introduced. A new model for the grid size optimization based on the finite element method is developed with the incorporation of the maximum information entropy theory when the length of the grid is given. Combined with the experiential evaluation approach of the flow discharge per unit river width, this model can be used to determine the grid size of the finite element method applied to water quality modeling of the topographically complicated river when the velocity field of the river is not given. The calculating results of the application of the model to an ideal river testified the correctness of the model. In a practical case—the application of the model to the Xingjian River (the Hengyang section of the Xiangjiang River), the optimized width of the grid of the finite element method was gained and the influence of parameters was studied, which demonstrated that the model reflected the real situation of the pollutants in the river, and that the model had many excellent characteristics such as stabilization, credibility and high applicability in practical applications.ZENG Guangming*, SU Xiaokang, HUANG Guohe and XIE Gengxin(Department of Environment Science and Engineering, Hunan University, Changsha 410082, China) 2003Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2003,13,12:0
3Exploration of sea anemone-inspired high-performance biomaterials with enhanced antioxidant activity显示文摘Antioxidant biomaterials have attracted much attention in various biomedical fields because of their effective inhibition and elimination of reactive oxygen species(ROS)in pathological tissues.However,the difficulty in ensuring biocompatibility,biodegradability and bioavailability of antioxidant materials has limited their further development.Novel bioavailable antioxidant materials that are derived from natural resources are urgently needed.Here,an integrated multi-omics method was applied to fabricate antioxidant biomaterials.A key cysteine-rich thrombospondin-1 type Ⅰ repeat-like(TSRL)protein was efficiently discovered from among 1262 adhesive components and then used to create a recombinant protein with a yield of 500 mg L^(-1).The biocompatible TSRL protein was able to self-assemble into either a water-resistant coating through Ca^(2+)-mediated coordination or redox-responsive hydrogels with tunable physical properties.The TSRL-based hydrogels showed stronger 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)radical scavenging rates than glutathione(GSH)and ascorbic acid(Aa)and protected cells against external oxidative stress significantly more effectively.When topically applied to mice skin,TSRL alleviated epidermal hyperplasia and suppressed the degradation of collagen and elastic fibers caused by ultraviolet radiation B(UVB)irradiation,confirming that it enhanced antioxidant activity in vivo.This is the first study to successfully characterize natural antioxidant biomaterials created from marine invertebrate adhesives,and the findings indicate the excellent prospects of these biomaterials for great applications in tissue regeneration and cosmeceuticals.Lulu Wang Xiaokang Zhang Pingping Xu Jicheng Yan Yuzhong Zhang Hainan Su Chengjun Sun Qiang Lu Weizhi Liu 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,4:0

5Heat Health Risk and Adaptability Assessments at the Subdistrict Scale in Metropolitan Beijing显示文摘Against the background of global climate change, the increasing heat health risk from the combined effect of changes in high temperature, exposure, vulnerability, and other factors has become a growing concern.Yet the low number of temperature observation stations is insufficient to represent the complex changes in urban heatwaves, and subdistrict-scale(town, township, neighborhood committee, and equivalent) heat health risk and adaptability assessments are still limited. In this study, we built daytime and nighttime high-temperature interpolation models supported by data from 225 meteorological stations in Beijing.The models performed well at interpolating the cumulative hours of high temperature and the interpolation quality at night was better than that during the day. We further established a methodological framework for heat health risk and adaptability assessments based on heat hazard, population exposure, social vulnerability, and adaptability at the subdistrict scale in Beijing. Our results show that the heat health risk hotspots were mainly located in the central urban area,with 81 hotspots during the day and 76 at night. The average value of the heat health risk index of urban areas was 5.60 times higher than that of suburban areas in the daytime,and 6.70 times higher than that of suburban areas in the night. Greater population density and higher intensity of heat hazards were the main reasons for the high risk in most heat health risk hotspots. Combined with a heat-adaptive-capacity evaluation for hotspot areas, this study suggests that 11high-risk and low-adaptation subdistricts are priority areas for government action to reduce heat health risk in policy formulation and urban development.Xiaokang Su Fang Wang Demin Zhou Hongwen Zhang 2022International Journal of Disaster Risk Science2022,13,6:0
6Late Mesozoic Exhumation of the Huangling Massif:Constraints on the Evolution of the Middle Yangtze River显示文摘Plate subduction leads to complex exhumation processes on continents.The Huangling Massif lies at the northern margin of the South China Block.Whether the Huangling Massif was exhumed as a watershed of the middle reaches of the Paleo-Yangtze River during the Mesozoic remains under debate.We examined the exhumation history of the Huangling Massif based on six granite bedrock samples,using apatite fission track(AFT)and apatite and zircon(U-Th)/He(AHe and ZHe)thermochronology.These samples yielded ages of 157–132 Ma(ZHe),119–106 Ma(AFT),and 114–72 Ma(AHe),respectively.Thermal modeling revealed that three phases of rapid cooling occurred during the Late Jurassic–Early Cretaceous,late Early Cretaceous,and Late Cretaceous.These exhumation processes led to the high topographic relief responsible for the emergence of the Huangling Massif.The integrated of our new data with published sedimentological records suggests that the Huangling Massif might have been the watershed of the middle reaches of the Paleo-Yangtze River since the Cretaceous.At that time,the rivers flowed westward into the Sichuan Basin and eastward into the Jianghan Basin.The subduction of the Pacific Plate beneath the Asian continent in the Mesozoic deeply influenced the geomorphic evolution of the South China Block.SU Jianchao LIN Xu LI Chang’an Jolivet MARC WU Lin CHENG Feng DENG Bin WU Zhonghai CHEN Xiaokang HU Chengwei 2024Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2024,98,1:0
