21 Gbps free-space deep-ultraviolet communications based on Ⅲ-nitride micro-LEDs emitting at 262 nm显示文摘The low modulation bandwidth of deep-ultraviolet(UV) light sources is considered as the main reason limiting the data transmission rate of deep-UV communications. Here, we present high-bandwidth Ⅲ-nitride microlight-emitting diodes(μLEDs) emitting in the UV-C region and their applications in deep-UV communication systems. The fabricated UV-C μLEDs with 566 μm2 emission area produce an optical power of 196 μW at the 3400 A∕cm2 current density. The measured 3 dB modulation bandwidth of these μLEDs initially increases linearly with the driving current density and then saturates as 438 MHz at a current density of 71 A∕cm2, which is limited by the cutoff frequency of the commercial avalanche photodiode used for the measurement. A deep-UV communication system is further demonstrated. 3Modulation Techniques for Li-Fi显示文摘Modulation techniques for light fidelity(Li-Fi) are reviewed in this paper.Li-Fi is the fully networked solution for multiple users that combines communication and illumination simultaneously.Light emitting diodes(LEDs) are used in Li-Fi as visible light transmitters,therefore,only intensity modulated direct detected modulation techniques can be achieved.Single carrier modulation techniques are straightforward to be used in Li-Fi,however,computationally complex equalization processes are required in frequency selective Li-Fi channels.On the other hand,multicarrier modulation techniques offer a viable solution for Li-Fi in terms of power,spectral and computational efficiency.In particular,orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) based modulation techniques offer a practical solution for Li-Fi,especially when direct current(DC) wander,and adaptive bit and power loading techniques are considered.Li-Fi modulation techniques need to also satisfy illumination requirements.Flickering avoidance and dimming control are considered in the variant modulation techniques presented.This paper surveys the suitable modulation techniques for Li-Fi including those which explore time,frequency and colour domains.Mohamed Sufyan Islim Harald Haas 2016ZTE Communications2016,14,2:3
4Technical efficiency of hybrid maize growers: A stochastic frontier model approach显示文摘This study investigated the effect of credit constraints and credit unconstraints on the technical efficiency of hybrid maize growers in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province(KPK) of Pakistan. The primary data were collected by a direct elicitation method from 510 maize growers of KPK Province. Stochastic frontier model techniques were used for technical efficiency analyses. The results revealed that the mean technical efficiency difference between the two groups was 10.2%. The results of technical inefficiency effect modeling demonstrated that education of the household head, family size, number of married family members, off-farm income, farming experience, tractor drill, water irrigation through a lined course, certified seed, extension services, household saving variables, and a credit size variable had positive effects on technical efficiency for both credit constrained farmers(CCFs) and credit unconstrained farmers(UCCFs). In addition, age of household head and fragmented land values had negative effects on technical efficiency for both groups. However, the interest rate had positive and negative impacts on the technical efficiency of CCFs and UCCFs, respectively. 6A Novel Design of an Aquatic Walking Robot Having Webbed Feet显示文摘Inspired by the movement of duck that is able to move on land and water utilizing its webbed feet,a novel design of an amphibious robot has been presented in this paper.In contrary,the orthodox design of amphibious robot utilizes the tracks or wheels on land and switches to the propeller to move in water.The proposed design employs same propulsion system as webbed feet to move on land and water.After studying the movement of the duck underwater,a conclusion has been drawn that it is swimming in the water by moving its webbed feet back and forth to generate force to push its body forward.Recreating this phenomenon of duck movement,hybrid robot locomotion has been designed and developed which is able to walk,swim and climb steps using the same propulsion system.Moreover,webbed feet would be able to walk efficiently on muddy,icy or sandy terrain due to uneven distribution of robot weight on the feet.To be able to justify the feasibility of the design,simulations are being carried out using Simulation Xpress of the SOLIDWORKS software.Saad Kashem Hutomo Sufyan 2017International Journal of Automation and computing2017,14,5:2

1010 Gbps wavelength division multiplexing using UV-A, UV-B, and UV-C micro-LEDs显示文摘Deep ultraviolet(DUV) optical wireless communications have seen increased interest in recent years due to the unique properties of light in this spectral region. However, the reported DUV data rates remain significantly lower than comparable demonstrations at visible wavelengths due to lower modulation bandwidths and/or output power of the sources. Here, we present a wavelength division multiplexing demonstration using three UV microlight-emitting diodes emitting at nominal peak wavelengths of 285, 317, and 375 nm, respectively, each with an emitting area of approximately 1369 μm^(2)(equivalent to circular device pixels of diameter;0 μm). 18Recent progress in flexible Zn-ion hybrid supercapacitors: Fundamentals, fabrication designs, and applications显示文摘One of the most exciting new developments in energy storage technology is flexible Zn-ion hybrid supercapacitors(f-ZIHSCs),which combine the high energy of Zn-ion batteries with high-power supercapacitors to satisfy the needs of portable flexible electronics.However,the development of f-ZHSCs is still in its infancy,and there are numerous barriers to overcome before they can be widely implemented for practical applications.This review gives an up-to-date description of recent achievements and underlying concepts in energy storage mechanisms of f-ZIHSCs and emphasizes the critical role of cathode,anode,and electrolyte materials systems in speeding the prosperity of f-ZIHSCs.The innovative nanostructured-based cathode materials for f-ZIHSCs include carbon(e.g.,porous carbon,heteroatom-doped carbon,biomass-derived porous carbon,graphene,etc.),metal-oxides,MXenes,and metal/covalentorganic frameworks,and other materials(e.g.,activated carbon,phosphorene,etc.)are mainly focused.Afterward,the latest developments in flexible anode and electrolyte frameworks and impacts of electrolyte compositions on the electrochemical properties of f-ZIHSC are elaborated.Subsequently,the advancements based on fabrication designs,including quasi-solid-state,micro,fiber-shaped,and all climate-changed f-ZIHSCs,are discussed in detail.Lastly,a summary of current challenges and recommendations for the future progress of advanced f-ZIHSC are addressed.This review article is anticipated to further understand the viable strategies and achievable approaches for assembling high-performance f-ZIHSCs and boost the technical revolutions on cathode,anode,and electrolytes for f-ZIHSC devices.Muhammad Sufyan Javed Sumreen Asim Tayyaba Najam Muhammad Khalid Iftikhar Hussain Awais Ahmad Mohammed A.Assiri Weihua Han 2023Carbon Energy2023,5,1:1
