1Road Centrality and Landscape Spatial Patterns in Wuhan Metropolitan Area,China显示文摘Road network is a corridor system that interacts with surrounding landscapes,and understanding their interaction helps to develop an optimal plan for sustainable transportation and land use.This study investigates the relationships between road centrality and landscape patterns in the Wuhan Metropolitan Area,China.The densities of centrality measures,including closeness,betweenness,and straightness,are calculated by kernel density estimation(KDE).The landscape patterns are characterized by four landscape metrics,including percentage of landscape(PLAND),Shannon′s diversity index(SHDI),mean patch size(MPS),and mean shape index(MSI).Spearman rank correlation analysis is then used to quantify their relationships at both landscape and class levels.The results show that the centrality measures can reflect the hierarchy of road network as they associate with road grade.Further analysis exhibit that as centrality densities increase,the whole landscape becomes more fragmented and regular.At the class level,the forest gradually decreases and becomes fragmented,while the construction land increases and turns to more compact.Therefore,these findings indicate that the ability and potential applications of centrality densities estimated by KDE in quantifying the relationships between roads and landscapes,can provide detailed information and valuable guidance for transportation and land-use planning as well as a new insight into ecological effects of roads.LIU Yaolin WANG Huimin JIAO Limin LIU Yanfang HE Jianhua AI Tinghua 2015Chinese Geographical Science2015,25,4:9
2How does the motor relearning program improve neurological function of brain ischemia monkeys?显示文摘The motor relearning program can significantly improve various functional disturbance induced by ischemic cerebrovascular diseases. However, its mechanism of action remains poorly understood. In injured brain tissues, glial fibrillary acidic protein and neurofilament protein changes can reflect the condition of injured neurons and astrocytes, while vascular endothelial growth factor and basic fibroblast growth factor changes can indicate angiogenesis. In the present study, we induced ischemic brain injury in the rhesus macaque by electrocoagulation of the M1 segment of the right middle cerebral artery. The motor relearning program was conducted for 60 days from the third day after model establishment. Immunohistochemistry and single-photon emission CT showed that the numbers of glial fibrillary acidic protein-, neurofilament protein-, vascular endothelial growth factor- and basic fibroblast growth factor-positive cells were significantly increased in the infarcted side compared with the contralateral hemisphere following the motor relearning program. Moreover, cerebral blood flow in the infarcted side was significantly improved. The clinical rating scale for stroke was used to assess neurological function changes in the rhesus macaque following the motor relearning program. Results showed that motor function was improved, and problems with consciousness, self-care ability and balance function were significantly ameliorated. 3JNK3 involvement in nerve cell apoptosis and neurofunctional recovery after traumatic brain injury显示文摘Increasing evidence has revealed that the activation of the JNK pathway participates in apoptosis of nerve cells and neurological function recovery after traumatic brain injury. However, which genes in the JNK family are activated and their role in traumatic brain injury remain unclear. Therefore, in this study, in situ end labeling, reverse transcription-PCR and neurological function assessment were adopted to investigate the alteration of JNK1, JNK2 and JNK3 gene expression in cerebral injured rats, and their role in cell apoptosis and neurological function restoration. Results showed that JNK3 expression significantly decreased at 1 and 6 hours and 1 and 7 days post injury, but that JNK1 and JNK2 expression remained unchanged. In addition, the number of apoptotic nerve cells surrounding the injured cerebral cortex gradually reduced over time post injury. The Neurological Severity Scores gradually decreased over 1, 3, 5, 14 and 28 days post injury. These findings suggested that JNK3 expression was downregulated at early stages of brain injury, which may be associated with apoptosis of nerve cells. 5Poststroke DNA immunization against neurite growth inhibitors is beneficial to the recovery from local cerebral ischemia in rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: Inhibitory signals, i.e. neurite growth inhibitors (NGIs), presenting on central nervous system (CNS) myelin have been shown to play a crucial role in inhibiting lesioned axonal sprouting and leading to less functional recovery. Vaccines targeting NGIs may provide multifactorial protection against brain insults by overcoming the inhibitory effects of these NGIs and boosting the body's immune repair mechanisms. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of poststroke DNA immunization against NGIs on the rehabilitation for sensorimotor function of rat models of local cerebral ischemia. DESIGN: Completely randomized grouping design, and controlled experiment. SETTING: Brain Injury Research Laboratory, Department of Neurosurgery, National Neuroscience Institute, Singapore. MATERIALS: Sixty adult male Sprague-Dawley rats ranging in age from 45 to 120 days and in weight from 180 to 250 grams were provided by Animal Center of Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore. pcDNA3.1(+)-neurite growth inhibitors (pcDNA-NGIs) a gift was provided by Dr. Xiao from Department of Clinical Research, Singapore General Hospital, Singapore. METHODS: The experiment was carried out at Brain Injury Research Laboratory, Department of Neurosurgery, National Neuroscience Institute, Singapore from August 2003 to April 2005. ①The involved rats were randomized into 3 groups: pcDNA-NGIs group (group A), pcDNA3.1 (+) group (group B) and model group (group C), with 20 rats in each group. Left focal cerebral ischemia (FCI) was permanently induced through middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) with the assistance of an operating microscope. Successful MCAO was determined by a 20% decrease to baseline in the ipsilateral cerebral blood flow. 100 μg of pcDNA-NGIs eluted in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) was intramuscularly injected into the tibial muscle once a week after MCAO for 6 weeks in group A. As control, pcDNA3.1 (+) was also administrated in the same way in group B and nothing was administrated in group C. ② The modified neurological severity score (mNSS), a composite of motor, sensory, reflex and balance tests, was used to test the sensorimotor deficit. The mNSS was graded on a scale of 0–18, i.e. normal score was 0, maximal deficit score was 18, and 1 point was warded for the inability to perform the tasks or the lack of a tested reflex. ③ The newly generated axons of corticorubral projection were traced by stereotaxic guided injection of 100 g/L biotinylated dextran amine. Rats were sacrificed two weeks after tracing, and cryostat coronal sections of midbrains (30 μm) were reacted to BDA according to the manufacturer's instruction by the free-floating method. Images were captured on a DM RXA2 LEICA Microscope with a Spot Digital Camera system (Germany), and the numbers of labeled axons on the denervated side in four standard coronal sections including the red nucleus were manually quantified. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① The number of newly generated axons of corticorubral projection. ②The improvement in sensorimotor deficit. RESULTS: All the involved 60 rats entered the stage of final analysis. ① The number of newly generated axons of corticorubral projection of rats: Only ipsilateral axons of CRP were noted with little evidence of fibers crossing to the contralateral red nucleus in rats of groups B and C. More BDA-positive fibers crossing the midline and terminating in the contralateral red nucleus in appropriate target areas mirroring thenon-differentiated red nucleus were found in rats of group A. Quantitative analysis showed that BDA-labeled axons in the denervated side of rats in group A were more than those in group B (P < 0.05). ② Improvement in sensorimotor deficit of rats: At 2 weeks after immunization, significant improvement in sensorimotor deficit was found in rats of group A. There were significant differences of improvement in sensorimotor deficit of rats between group A and group B or group C at 12 and 14 weeks after immunization (P < 0.05). 13Brain-derived neurotrophic factor and neural plasticity in a rat model of spinal cord transection显示文摘The present study employed a rat model of T10 spinal cord transection.Western blot analyses revealed increased brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF) expression in spinal cord segments caudal to the transection site following injection of replication incompetent herpes simplex virus vector(HSV-BDNF) into the subarachnoid space.In addition,hindlimb locomotor functions were improved.In contrast,BDNF levels decreased following treatment with replication defective herpes simplex virus vector construct small interference BDNF(HSV-siBDNF).Moreover,hindlimb locomotor functions gradually worsened.Compared with the replication incompetent herpes simplex virus vector control group,extracellular signal regulated kinase1/2 expression increased in the HSV-BDNF group on days 14 and 28 after spinal cord transection,but expression was reduced in the HSV-siBDNF group.These results suggested that BDNF plays an important role in neural plasticity via extracellular signal regulated kinase1/2 signaling pathway in a rat model of adult spinal cord transection.Ruxin Xing Jia Liu Hua Jin Ping Dai Tinghua Wang 2011Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,13:0
14Inhibition of ciliary neurotrophic factor in a rat model of transected spinal cord显示文摘Ciliary neurotrophic factor(CNTF)dramatically increases following spinal cord injury and participates in the repair process,although some studies have shown that CNTF plays a role in promoting glial scar formation following spinal cord injury.The antibody closure model can be used to inhibit CNTF expression following spinal cord injury,thereby furthering the understanding of the role of CNTF in spinal cord injury repair.In the present experiment,spinal catheters were placed in the vertebral canal of spinal cord transected rats,and CNTF antibodies were injected following fixation of the paraspinal muscle catheter.At 24 hours after a single CNTF antibody injection,CNTF expression decreased in the thoracic and lumbar spinal cord and recovered to normal levels by 48-72 hours.CNTF antibody treatment can effectively block endogenous CNTF expression in the thoracic and lumbar spinal cord during an interval of less than 24 hours in transected rats.Hua Jin Yanhua Li Yinghua Chen Junhong Li Binghua Chen Tinghua Wang 2011Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,2:0
15Commercial Credit and Corporate Productivity显示文摘As an important form of informal finance,commercial credit is widely used among enterprises.Does commercial credit promote the total factor productivity of enterprises?According to the theoretical literature and the reality,using the large sample data of Chinese industrial enterprises,the paper empirically tests the impact of commercial credit on the productivity of enterprises from three aspects:the provision and acquisition of commercial credit and the net commercial credit.The study finds that the provision of commercial credit reduces the productivity level of enterprises;the acquisition of commercial credit fails to promote productivity;while the net commercial credit as a short-term financial buffer for enterprises can alleviate the financing constraints,faced by enterprises,especially private enterprises,which help to increase their productivity levels.In addition,the study found that the higher the marketization process in the region,the more favorable the commercial credit is to the improvement of the production efficiency of private enterprises.Tinghua Liu Jingru Wang Xiao Liu 2020Journal of Management Science & Engineering Research2020,3,1:0

17Directional induction of dopaminergic neurons from neural stem cells using substantia nigra homogenates and basic fibroblast growth factor显示文摘To date, complex components of available reagents have been used for directional induction of neural stem cells into dopaminergic neurons, resulting in a poor ability to repeat experiments. This study sought to investigate whether a homogenate of the substantia nigra of adult rats and/or basic fibroblast growth factor could directionally induce neural stem cells derived from the subventricular zone of embryonic rats to differentiate into dopaminergic neurons. Tyrosine hydroxylase-positive cells were observed exclusively after induction with the homogenate supernatant of the substantia nigra from adult rats and basic fibroblast growth factor for 48 hours in vitro. However, in the groups treated with homogenate supernatant or basic fibroblast growth factor alone, tyrosine hydroxylase expression was not observed. Moreover, the content of dopamine in the culture medium of subventricular zone neurons was significantly increased at 48 hours after induction with the homogenate supernatant of the substantia nigra from adult rats and basic fibroblast growth factor. 18Effect of bone marrow stromal cell transplantation to the hippocampal CA1 region on electroencephalographic activity in epileptic rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: Animal experiments have confirmed that bone marrow stromal cell (BMSC) transplantation can serve as a treatment for epilepsy. OBJECTIVE: BMSCs derived from green fluorescent protein (GFP) mice were transplanted into the hippocampal CA1 region of epileptic rats. The aim of the study was to record electroencephalogram (EEG), analyze survival and migration of BMSCs, and validate the effect of BMSC transplantation for the treatment of epilepsy. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A randomized block design experiment was performed at the Institute of Neuroscience, Kunming Medical College from March 2005 to February 2006. MATERIALS: Homozygous C57BL/6CrSlcTgN (acr-EGFP) OsbC 14-Y01-FM131 mice, 8-12 weeks of age, were selected for preparation of cell suspension. Sprague Dawley rats were selected for establishing epilepsy models. METHODS: Rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: control (n = 8), model (n = 8), normal saline (n = 24), and BMSC (n = 24). In the model, normal saline, and BMSC groups, epilepsy was established with penicillin (3 × 107 U/kg i.p. ×7 days). Rats in the BMSC group received a BMSC suspension derived from green fluorescent protein mice into the right hippocampal CA1 region. Rats in the vehicle control group were injected with the same volume of normal saline into the hippocampal CA1 region. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The electroencephalogram was used to monitor brain activity. Survival and migration of the transplanted BMSCs was observed using fluorescence microscopy at 1, 2, and 4 weeks after transplantation. RESULTS: In BMSC group, fluorescent cells were observed at the transplantation site and in the adjacent tissue, as well as in the tissue surrounding the needle tract, indicating the migration of implanted cells. Fluorescent cells were not detected in the vehicle control group. The electroencephalogram of the control animals exhibited 7-9 Hz α waves, with a wave amplitude < 50 μV. In the model and vehicle control groups, random spike-and-wave discharges of the sharp spike-sharp low wave type were observed. EEG amplitudes were significantly smaller in the BMSC group, compared with the model and vehicle control groups. 19Learning Effect and Productivity Convergence of Chinese Industrial Enterprises显示文摘The main purpose of this paper is to test the production efficiency of different Chinese property industrial enterprises.Based on the large sample panel data of industrial enterprises of the National Bureau of Statistics,we found that although the production efficiency of China-funded enterprises is generally weaker than foreign-funded enterprises,some China-funded enterprises have better learning ability.On the one hand,dynamic analysis found that private enterprises have significant learning ability.On the other hand,the results of convergence analysis show that China’s private enterprises have the potential to gradually catch up with the frontier level of world production efficiency and have better learning ability to catch up potential.And state-owned enterprises tend to be more efficient at the beginning of their establishment,but their productivity is fairly slow to improve,especially for state-owned enterprises with high efficiency sub-samples,so that it’s hard for them to continue improving their efficiency.Institutional analysis found that the marketization process helped the China enterprises to improve their learning ability and China should continue to strengthen the reform of property rights and promote the marketization process.Tinghua Liu Jingru Wang Xiao Liu 2020Journal of Finance Research2020,4,2:0
