1Application of high silica zeolite ZSM-5 in a hybrid treatment process based on sequential adsorption and ozonation for VOCs elimination显示文摘In this study,a hydrophobic synthetic zeolite,namely ZSM-5 is chosen as an adsorbent/catalyst for toluene removal.Experimental results showed that toluene adsorption onto ZSM-5 was favourable,following a Langmuir adsorption isotherm model.ZSM-5 zeolite was regenerated using gaseous ozone at low temperature.Adsorbed toluene was oxidised,releasing mainly CO_2 and H_2O.Traces of oxidation by-products such as acetic acid and acetaldehyde were formed and remained adsorbed after the oxidativate regeneration with ozone.After four successive cycles of adsorption/ozonation,the adsorption efficiency was not affected(92%-99%).These results showed that volatile organic compound(VOC)removal by adsorption onto ZSM-5 zeolite followed by ozone regeneration could be used as a promising hybrid process for the control of VOC emissions in terms of efficiency.Hicham Zaitan Marie Hélène Manero Héctor Valdés 2016Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,3:23
2FDG-PET/CT response evaluation during EGFR-TKI treatment in patients with NSCLC显示文摘Over recent years,[18F]-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography acquired together with low dose computed tomography(FDG-PET/CT)has proven its role as a staging modality in patients with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).The purpose of this review was to present the evidence to use FDG-PET/CT for response evaluation in patients with NSCLC,treated with epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)-tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKI).All published articles from 1November 2003 to 1 November 2013 reporting on 18FFDG-PET response evaluation during EGFR-TKI treatment in patients with NSCLC were collected.In total 7studies,including data of 210 patients were eligible for analyses.Our report shows that FDG-PET/CT responseduring EGFR-TKI therapy has potential in targeted treatment for NSCLC.FDG-PET/CT response is associated with clinical and radiologic response and with survival.Furthermore FDG-PET/CT response monitoring can be performed as early as 1-2 wk after initiation of EGFR-TKI treatment.Patients with substantial decrease of metabolic activity during EGFR-TKI treatment will probably benefit from continued treatment.If metabolic response does not occur within the first weeks of EGFR-TKI treatment,patients may be spared(further)unnecessary toxicity of ineffective treatment.Refining FDG-PET response criteria may help the clinician to decide on continuation or discontinuation of targeted treatment.Matthijs H van Gool Tjeerd S Aukema Koen J Hartemink Renato A Valdés Olmos Houke M Klomp Harm van Tinteren 2014World Journal of Radiology2014,6,7:8

4Adherence to immunosuppressor medication in renal transplanted patients显示文摘Non-adherence is a priority public health concern. Non-adherence means not taking medications, missing medications, taking too much, not taking enough, wrongtiming, wrong dose and/or wrong pill, but may also refer to missing appointments, not booking appointments, not doing blood work, not returning calls and/or refusal to follow the treatment regimen. In renal transplantation, adherence to immunosuppressive medication is a fundamental requisite in order to preserve graft function, since non-adherence is one of the main causes for late acute rejection, incomplete recovery after rejection treatment, chronic graft dysfunction, graft loss, and death. Transplantation failure due to treatment nonadherence is economically, socially, ethically and morally unjustifiable. This is a very prevalent issue: in some studies, its incidence is as high as 70% of patients. The self-reported nonadherence levels found in certain studies, including those performed immediately after transplantation show the need for early and continued intervention after kidney transplantation in order to maximise adherence and consequently clinical outcomes. There is not a single method to assess non adherence, thus combining several measures increases diagnostic accuracy. Electronic monitoring with a microdevice that records each time a pill bottle is opened is considered the 'gold standard' for measuring adherence, but selfreport at a confidential interview was the best measure of adherence. Thus non-adherence risk can be effectively assessed using clinically available assessment tools. Medication Adherence Scale, Brief Medical Questionnaire, Immunosuppressant Therapy Adherence Scale, Immunosuppressant Therapy Barrier Scale, Long-Term Medication Behavior Self-Efficacy Scale and Simplified Medication Adherence Questionnaire are some of the self-reported questionnaires. There are multiple factors associated with non-adherence in immunosuppressant therapy: Younger patients(adolescent, especially), poor health coverage, poor social support, unmarried, no family, non-Caucasian, immigrant, lower income, lower socioeconomic class, greater parental distress and lower family cohesion; complex medical regimens, higher number of drugs, longer time after transplant, toxicity, side effects, poor tolerance to medication, higher number of physicians involved, poor provider-patient rapport; psychological(dependency, high levels of anxiety and hostility, poorer behavioral functioning and greater distress in children) and psychiatric(depression) illnesses, low self-efficacy with medicine intake, perception of immunosuppressive therapy as not been necessary to preserve kidney function, forgetfulness, rebelliousness, poor perception of health, poor satisfaction, low Health-related quality of life, addictions, lack of coping strategies and avoidance behavior; patient morbidity: comorbidity, receiving a transplant from a live donor, retransplantation, and noninsulin-dependent diabetes. The most frequent strategies to promote medication-taking must focus on modifiable risk factors. Reasons for non-adherence are complex and diverse and any successful intervention aimed at improving adherence must be multidimensional. Although effective intervention strategies are needed to improve immunosuppressant therapy adherence, few intervention studies have been conducted in the adult renal transplant population. In this study, we perform an exhaustive review of the different strategies reported in the literature. 6Selective uptake of major and trace elements in Erica andevalensis,an endemic species to extreme habitats in the Iberian Pyrite Belt显示文摘To assess the ecophysiological traits and the phytoremediation potential of the endemic heather Erica andevalensis,we determined the concentrations of major and trace elements in different plant parts and in rizosphere soils from Riotinto mining district (Huelva,Spain).The results showed that E.andevalensis may grow on substrates with very high As,Cu,Fe and Pb concentrations (up to 4114,1050,71900 and 15614 μg/g dry weight,respectively),very low availability of macro-and micronutrients and with pH values ranging from 3.3 to 4.9.In these harsh edaphic conditions E.andevalensis selectively absorbed and translocated essential nutrients and excludes potentially phytotoxic elements,which were accumulated in the root epidermis.The concentrations of major and trace elements in E.andevalensis aerial parts from the Riotinto mining district were in the normal range for plants;likewise other Erica species it accumulated Mn and only in a very polluted site we measured leaf concentrations of As and Pb within the excessive or toxic limits for plants.Differently from previous studies,which emphasized the soil pH and bioavailability of phytotoxic elements as the main stress factors,this study showed that in the Riotinto region,E.andevalensis can tolerate wide range of pH and toxic element concentrations;the harshest environments colonized by monospecific patches of this species were characterized above all by very low availability of nutrients.The extraordinary capability to adapt to these extreme habitats made E.andevalensis a priority species to promote the phytostabilization and the development of a self-sustaining vegetative cover on Riotinto mine tailings.Fabrizio Monaci Eduardo O.Leidi Maria Dolores Mingorance Benito Valdés Sabina Rossini Oliva Roberto Bargagli 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,3:2
