1Tempo-spatial Variation of Nutrient and Chlorophyll-a Concentrations From Summer to Winter in the Zhangzi Island Area (Northern Yellow Sea)显示文摘Nutrient and Chlorophyll-a(Chl-a) concentrations were investigated monthly along three transects extending from a mariculture area to open waters around the Zhangzi Island area from July to December 2009.The objective of this study is to illustrate food availability to the bottom-sowed scallop Patinopecten yessoensis under the influences of the Yellow Sea Cold Water Mass(YSCWM),freshwater input and feedbacks of cultivated scallops.Significant thermal stratification was present in open waters from July to October,and salinity decreased in July and August in surface layers in the mariculture area.Nutrient concentrations increased with depth in both areas in summer,but were similar through water column in November and December.On average,nutrient increased from summer to autumn in all components except ammonia.Nutrient concentrations lower than the minimum thresholds for phytoplankton growth were present only in upper layers in summer,but stoichiometric nitrogen limitation existed in the entire investigation period.Column-averaged Chl-a concentration was lower in open waters than in mariculture area in all months.It increased significantly in mariculture area in August and October,and was less variable in open waters.Our results show that nutrients limitation to phytoplankton growth is present mainly in upper layer in association with stratification caused by YSCWM in summer.Freshwater input and upwelling of nutrients accumulated in YSCWM can stimulate phytoplankton production in mariculture area.Farming activities may change stoichiometric nutrient ratios but have less influence on Chl-a concentration.YIN Jiehui ZHAO Zengxia ZHANG Guangtao WANG Shiwei WAN Aiyong 2013Journal of Ocean University of China2013,12,3:4
2Experimental clearance rates of Aurelia coerulea ephyrae and medusae,and the predation impact on zooplankton in Jiaozhou Bay显示文摘The population explosion of jellyfish Aurelia coerulea occurred in Jiaozhou Bay,China in 2009.The potential predation impact of A.coerulea on zooplankton was investigated.Population clearance potential and residence time(t 1/2)for copepods were calculated from laboratory clearance rates and measurements of jellyfish size and abundance from May to August 2009 in Jiaozhou Bay.Clearance rates varied widely with prey organisms,but they were not significantly different among various prey concentrations.Medusae captured rotifers,fish larvae and hydromedusae more efficiently than fish eggs,copepods and chaetognaths.Ephyrae captured rotifers and hydromedusae more efficiently than fish larvae and copepods.Clearance rate linearly increased with the cross sectional area of A.coerulea(size from 0.3 to 7.1 cm).Water temperature also had a marked effect on clearance rate and this was related to the increased beat frequency as water temperature increased.In early May 2009,A.coerulea potentially cleared the volume of water in the Bay less than 0.001 times a day,but this value was estimated to be more than 0.3 times a day in July.The t 1/2 for copepods was less than 6 d in June and July.Abundances of copepods,hydromedusae and chaetognaths were extremely low in 2009 compared to 2008 and 2010(jellyfish non-bloom years).Large predation pressure by the A.coerulea population occurred to control zooplankton communities in Jiaozhou Bay.A.coerulea,when present at a high population level,can be a keystone species in Jiaozhou Bay and control the trophic structure here.WANG Pengpeng ZHANG Fang SUN Song WANG Weicheng WAN Aiyong LI Chaolun 2020Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,4:1
3Unravelling the Anomalous Coking Resistance over Boron Nitride-Supported Ni Catalysts for Dry Reforming of Methane显示文摘Metal oxides have been used as the supports for heterogeneous catalysis formany years,but they still suffer from coking in some high-temperature applications.The main reasons for coking are the uncontrollable dissociation of C-H and the overbalance between carbon deposition and removal.Herein,we find a boron nitride(BN)-immobilized Ni catalyst shows unprecedented coking resistance in dry reforming of methane via the incomplete decomposition of methane.Unlike the Ni-based catalysts supported by traditional metal oxides,BN-supported Ni accelerates the first C-H dissociation while inhibiting the breaking of the final C-H bond;hence,the suppression of the complete decomposition of methane thoroughly addresses the coking issue.This work reveals the fundamental reason for the coking resistance over BN-supported Ni catalysts is selective activation of the C-H bond,which can provide an inspiring idea for other applications.Jiang Deng Min Gao Jun-ya Hasegawa Xiaoyu Zhang Aiyong Wang Aling Chen Dengsong Zhang 2023CCS Chemistry2023,5,9:1

5Annual Occurrence of Calanus sinicus Carcasses in the Jiaozhou Bay and the Adjacent Waters显示文摘The dead proportion of a calanoid copepod Calanus sinicus population was investigated monthly with neutral red staining method at 12 stations in the Jiaozhou Bay and the adjacent waters from December 2008 to November 2009. C. sinicus could be observed through the whole year, with an evident numerical peak from February to April and an extremely low abundance in summer. Annual variation of the dead proportion differed greatly between adult females and copepodites. Dead females were observed only in the southern part and outside the bay sporadically in five months, when the egg production was the most active. Dead proportion of females was usually less than 5%. Dead copepodites could be observed in all but three months in summer in the whole study area, and the proportion varied between 3.8% – 18.2%. Death percentage of copepodites increased significantly in the northern part in January and June, when water temperature exceeded it's favorable limits;however, the fluctuated salinity had no significant effect on the survival of both females and copepodites. Thus the dead proportion of C. sinicus was relatively low in the Jiaozhou Bay, while difference could be observed between females and copepodites. 6Sm-MnO_(x)catalysts for low-temperature selective catalytic reduction of NO_(x)with NH_(3):Effect of precipitation agent显示文摘A series of Sm-Mn mixed oxide catalysts were prepared via precipitation using various precipitants,namely Na_(2)CO_(3)(NH_(4))_(2)CO_(3),and NH_(3)·H_(2)O,and evaluated for the selective catalytic reduction(SCR)of NO_(x)with NH_(3)at low temperatures.Various characterisation techniques were used to determine the physicochemical properties of the catalysts,and it is found that their catalytic performance is greatly influenced by the nature of the precipitation agent used.It is found that Sm_(0.1)Mn-Na_(2)CO_(3)and Sm_(0.1)Mn-(NH_(4))_(2)CO_(3)exhibit superior catalytic performance in the SCR reaction to that of Sm_(0.1)Mn-NH_(3)·H_(2)O due to an abundance of surface acid sites,high surface concentration of Mn^(4+),and high NO oxidation capacity.From in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy(DRIFT)analysis,we conclude that the Sm-Mn catalysts follow both Eley-Rideal and Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanisms,and that the Eley-Rideal mechanism is dominant at elevated temperatures.Junbin Ding Xinwei Yang Aiyong Wang Can Yang Yanglong Guo Yun Guo Li Wang Wangcheng Zhan 2022Journal of Rare Earths2022,40,8:1
7Species Composition and Protection of Fish Eggs and Larvae in Spawning Ground of Liaodong Bay显示文摘[Objective] The paper was to explore the species composition, number distribution and seasonal dynamics of fish eggs and larvae in Liaodong Bay in 2008. The protection and exploitation status of spawning ground in Liaodong Bay was analyzed, and the corresponding protection measures were put forward. [Methods] The species composition of fish eggs and larvae in spawning ground of Liaodong Bay was investigated by horizontal trawling associated with vertical trawling with zooplankton net in May, July, September and October in 2008. [Result] It was found that 7 724 eggs and 229 larvae of fishes belonging to 32 taxa were collected, in which 29 taxa were identified as species, belonging to 9 genera, 21 families and 28 orders, 2 taxa were identified to only family level, and one failed to be identified. The main spawning groups were Cynoglossus joyneri, Engraulis japonicus, Johnius belengerii, Larimichthys polyactis, Konosirus punctatus, Sardinella zunasi, and Scomberomorus niphonius, and the main spawning ground was found in northern waters and Changxing Island waters in Liaodao Bay. There was slightly less spawning species in2008 compared with 1998, especially the number of fish eggs and larvae decreased greatly. 8Mesozooplankton distribution and diversity from the Bering Sea shelf to the Chukchi Sea显示文摘In recent decades,environmental changes in the Arctic have aroused widespread concern around the world.To better understand ecology issues such as ecosystem dynamics,the Arctic and the subarctic regions were integrated as the“pan-Arctic”region.In this study,mesozooplankton were sampled from the Bering Sea shelf to the northern Chukchi Sea during the 10th Chinese National Arctic Research Expedition in 2019.Based on the species composition and abundance,three geographical communities were identified:the Bering Sea shelf community(BSS),the Bering Strait transitional community(BST),and the Chukchi Sea shelf community(CSS).The BSS was characterized by Bering Sea oceanic species such as Eucalanus bungii;the BST was mainly composed of the pan-Arctic distributed Calanus glacialis,meroplankton of benthos,and neritic species such as Centropages abdominalis;copepods,especially the copepodite of C.glacialis,were predominant in the CSS community.The BSS community structure was strongly affected by the inflow of Bering Shelf Water,while those of BST and CSS were determined by the recruitment of local species.The zooplankton community structure is influenced by both advection and environmental changes such as warming and a prolonged productivity period.Here,it was difficult to distinguish the changes induced by climate change from the effects of the Bering Sea Water.The key to solving this problem is the accumulation of comparable data,which requires continuous monitoring of key species such as C.glacialis and Calanus hyperboreus.XU Zhiqiang WANG Chaofeng CHAO Yuan WAN Aiyong ZHANG Guangtao 2023Advances in Polar Science2023,34,2:0
9Er-modified MnO_(x) for selective catalytic reduction of NO_(x) with NH_(3) at low temperature:Promoting effect of erbium on catalytic performance显示文摘Various Er modified MnO_(x) catalysts were synthesized using co-precipitation approach and tested in the selective catalytic reduction of NO_(x) by ammonia(NH_(3)-SCR).Catalysts were analyzed with various characterization techniques,and it is found that the doping of Er can enormously enhance the catalytic performance of MnO_(x)catalyst.MnEr_(0.1)demonstrates advantageous catalytic performance in the NH_(3)-SCR reaction owing to rich surface acidic sites,high surface content of Mn^(4+),superior redox capacity,and enhanced surface-adsorbed oxygen.From diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy(DRIFTs)analysis,it is suggested that the MnEr0.1catalyst follows mainly Eley-Rideal mechanism while MnO_(x) is dominated by Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism.Zhilin Fang Shuwen Zhang Aiyong Wang Yanglong Guo Yun Guo Li Wang Wangcheng Zhan 2023Journal of Rare Earths2023,41,6:0
