| 1 | The versatile functions of Sox9 in development,stem cells,and human diseases显示文摘The transcription factor Sox9 was first discovered in patients with campomelic dysplasia,a haploinsufficiency disorder with skeletal deformities caused by dysregulation of Sox9 expression during chondrogenesis.Since then,its role as a cell fate determiner during embryonic development has been well characterized;Sox9 expression differentiates cells derived from all three germ layers into a large variety of specialized tissues and organs.However,recent data has shown that ectoderm-and endoderm-derived tissues continue to express Sox9 in mature organs and stem cell pools,suggesting its role in cell maintenance and specification during adult life.The versatility of Sox9 may be explained by a combination of posttranscriptional modifications,binding partners,and the tissue type in which it is expressed.Considering its importance during both development and adult life,it follows that dysregulation of Sox9 has been implicated in various congenital and acquired diseases,including fibrosis and cancer.This review provides a summary of the various roles of Sox9 in cell fate specification,stem cell biology,and related human diseases.Ultimately,understanding the mechanisms that regulate Sox9 will be crucial for developing effective therapies to treat disease caused by stem cell dysregulation or even reverse organ damage. | Alice Jo Sahitya Denduluri Bosi Zhang Zhongliang Wang Liangjun Yin Zhengjian Yan Richard Kang Lewis L.Shi James Mok Michael J.Lee Rex C.Haydon | 2014 | Genes & Diseases2014,1,2: | 16 |
| 2 | Dental caries and first permanent molar pit and fissure morphology in 7-to 8-year-old children in Wuhan,China显示文摘To obtain the caries experience and,plaque accumulation severity and pit and fissure morphology in first permanent molars in 7-8 children in Wuhan,as a reasonable prediction of caries risk and preventive attention in the future,a convenient sample of five primary schools in the vicinity of the Wuhan University School and Hospital of Stomatology was drawn.Two calibrated examiners orally examined all present grade 2 children in the classroom,using standard caries plaque and tooth morphology criteria.Dental caries was scored at enamel(D 2) and dentine(D 3) for tooth and surface level.Independent variables were age,gender and school.Data analysis used analysis of variance and t-test.The sample comprised 1 043 7-and 8-year-olds.The prevalence of dental caries in permanent dentition was 8.7% and in primary dentition,68.7%.Mean Decayed,Missing,Filled Teeth/S(DMFT/S) scores were 0.11 and 0.14,respectively.Mean dmft/s scores were 2.8 and 5.0.The d-component constituted 75% of the d 3 mft index,while enamel carious lesions constituted 36% of the total number of carious lesions(d 2,3-component).Prevalence of medium and deep pits and fissures was 84.6%.Prevalence of medium and severe plaque accumulation was 67.4%.Prevalence of dental caries in the deciduous and permanent dentitions of 7-to 8-year-old children was high.Deep pits and fissures in high caries risk children should be sealed. | Jin-Dong Wang Xi Chen Jo Frencken Min-Quan Du Zhi Chen | 2012 | International Journal of Oral Science2012,4,3: | 13 |
| 3 | LAMOST Experiment for Galactic Understanding and Exploration (LEGUE)——The survey's science plan显示文摘We describe the current plans for a spectroscopic survey of millions of stars in the Milky Way galaxy using the Guo Shou Jing Telescope (GSJT, formerly called the Large sky Area Multi-Object fiber Spectroscopic Telescope - LAMOST). The survey will obtain spectra for 2.5 million stars brighter than r < 19 during dark/grey time, and 5 million stars brighter than r < 17 or J < 16 on nights that are moonlit or have low transparency. The survey will begin in the fall of 2012, and will run for at least four years. The telescope's design constrains the optimal declination range for observations to 10 < δ < 50 , and site conditions lead to an emphasis on stars in the direction of the Galactic anticenter. The survey is divided into three parts with different target selection strategies: disk, anticenter, and spheroid. The resulting dataset will be used to study the merger history of the Milky Way, the substructure and evolution of the disks, the nature of the first generation of stars through identification of the lowest metallicity stars, and star formation through study of open clusters and OB associations. | 4 | Novel fibrin-fibronectin matrix accelerates mice skin wound healing显示文摘Plasma fibrinogen(F1)and fibronectin(pFN)polymerize to form a fibrin clot that is both a hemostatic and provisional matrix for wound healing.About 90%of plasma F1 has a homodimeric pair ofγchains(γγF1),and 10%has a heterodimeric pair ofγand more acidicγ′chains(γγ′F1).We have synthesized a novel fibrin matrix exclusively from a 1:1(molar ratio)complex ofγγ′F1 and pFN in the presence of highly active thrombin and recombinant Factor XIII(rFXIIIa).In this matrix,the fibrin nanofibers were decorated with pFN nanoclusters(termedγγ′F1:pFN fibrin).In contrast,fibrin made from 1:1 mixture ofγγF1 and pFN formed a sporadic distribution of“pFN droplets”(termedγγF1+pFN fibrin).Theγγ′F1:pFN fibrin enhanced the adhesion of primary human umbilical vein endothelium cells(HUVECs)relative to theγγF1+FN fibrin.Three dimensional(3D)culturing showed that theγγ′F1:pFN complex fibrin matrix enhanced the proliferation of both HUVECs and primary human fibroblasts.HUVECs in the 3Dγγ′F1:pFN fibrin exhibited a starkly enhanced vascular morphogenesis while an apoptotic growth profile was observed in theγγF1+pFN fibrin.Relative toγγF1+pFN fibrin,mouse dermal wounds that were sealed byγγ′F1:pFN fibrin exhibited accelerated and enhanced healing.This study suggests that a 3D pFN presentation on a fibrin matrix promotes wound healing. | Carlos Poblete Jara Ou Wang Thais Paulino do Prado Ayman Ismail Frank Marco Fabian Han Li Licio A.Velloso Mark A.Carlson William Burgess Yuguo Lei William H.Velander Eliana P.Araújo | 2020 | Bioactive Materials2020,5,4: | 5 |
| 5 | Mapping the Milky Way with LAMOSTⅠ:method and overview显示文摘We present a statistical method to derive the stellar density profiles of the Milky Way from spectroscopic survey data,taking into account selection effects.We assume the selection function,which can be altered during observations and data reductions,of the spectroscopic survey is based on photometric colors and magnitude.Then the underlying selection function for a line-of-sight can be recovered well by comparing the distribution of the spectroscopic stars in a color-magnitude plane with that of the photometric dataset.Subsequently,the stellar density profile along a line-of-sight can be derived from the spectroscopically measured stellar density profile multiplied by the selection function.The method is validated using Galaxia mock data with two different selection functions.We demonstrate that the derived stellar density profiles reconstruct the true ones well not only for the full set of targets,but also for sub-populations selected from the full dataset.Finally,the method is applied to map the density profiles for the Galactic disk and halo,using the LAMOST RGB stars.The Galactic disk extends to about R=19 kpc,where the disk still contributes about 10% to the total stellar surface density.Beyond this radius,the disk smoothly transitions to the halo without any truncation,bending or breaking.Moreover,no over-density corresponding to the Monoceros ring is found in the Galactic anti-center direction.The disk shows moderate north–south asymmetry at radii larger than 12 kpc.On the other hand,the R–Z tomographic map directly shows that the stellar halo is substantially oblate within a Galactocentric radius of 20 kpc and gradually becomes nearly spherical beyond 30 kpc. | Chao Liu Yan Xu Jun-Chen Wan Hai-Feng Wang Jeffrey L.Carlin Li-Cai Deng Heidi Jo Newberg Zi-Huang Cao Yong-Hui Hou Yue-Fei Wang Yong Zhang | 2017 | Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2017,17,9: | 2 |
