1Baicalin induces ferroptosis in bladder cancer cells by downregulating FTH1显示文摘Ferroptosis is a non-apoptotic regulated cell death caused by iron accumulation and subsequent lipid peroxidation.Currently,the therapeutic role of ferroptosis on cancer is gaining increasing interest.Baicalin an active component in Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi with anticancer potential various cancer types;however,the effects of baicalein on bladder cancer and the underlying molecular mechanisms remain largely unknown.In the study,we investigated the effect of baicalin on bladder cancer cells5637 and KU-19-19.As a result,we show baicalin exerted its anticancer activity by inducing apoptosis and cell death in bladder cancer cells.Subsequently,we for the first time demonstrate baicalin-induced ferroptotic cell death in vitro and in vivo,accompanied by reactive oxygen species(ROS) accumulation and intracellular chelate iron enrichment.The ferroptosis inhibitor deferoxamine but not necrostatin-1,chloroquine(CQ),N-acetyl-L-cysteine,L-glutathione reduced,or carbobenzoxy-valyl-alanyl-aspartyl-[O-methyl]-fluoromethylketone(Z-VAD-FMK) rescued baicalin-induced cell death,indicating ferroptosis contributed to baicalin-induced cell death.Mechanistically,we show that ferritin heavy chain1(FTH1) was a key determinant for baicalin-induced ferroptosis.Overexpression of FTH1 abrogated the anticancer effects of baicalin in both 5637 and KU19-19 cells.Taken together,our data for the first time suggest that the natural product baicalin exerts its anticancer activity by inducing FTH1-dependent ferroptosis,which will hopefully provide a prospective compound for bladder cancer treatment.Na Kong Xiaying Chen Jiao Feng Ting Duan Shuiping Liu Xueni Sun Peng Chen Ting Pan Lili Yan Ting Jin Yu Xiang Quan Gao Chengyong Wen Weirui Ma Wencheng Liu Mingming Zhang Zuyi Yang Wengang Wang Ruonan Zhang Bi Chen Tian Xie Xinbing Sui Wei Tao 2021Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2021,11,12:23
2Recent Advances in Image Dehazing显示文摘Images captured in hazy or foggy weather conditions can be seriously degraded by scattering of atmospheric particles,which reduces the contrast,changes the color,and makes the object features difficult to identify by human vision and by some outdoor computer vision systems.Therefore image dehazing is an important issue and has been widely researched in the field of computer vision.The role of image dehazing is to remove the influence of weather factors in order to improve the visual effects of the image and provide benefit to post-processing.This paper reviews the main techniques of image dehazing that have been developed over the past decade.Firstly,we innovatively divide a number of approaches into three categories:image enhancement based methods,image fusion based methods and image restoration based methods.All methods are analyzed and corresponding sub-categories are introduced according to principles and characteristics.Various quality evaluation methods are then described,sorted and discussed in detail.Finally,research progress is summarized and future research directions are suggested.Wencheng Wang Xiaohui Yuan 2017IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2017,4,3:19
3Nickel accumulation and its effects on the survival rate of Spodoptera litura Fabricius under continuous nickel stress显示文摘The artificial diets mixed with various concentrations of nickel were offered to the larvae of the phytophagous insect Spodoptera litura Fabricius for 3 generations. Nickel accumulations in the 6th instar larvae, pupae and newly emerged adults of the corresponding generations of S. litura were investigated by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometer (ICP-AES), and the effects of nickel accumulations on the survival rate of S. litura were also evaluated by individual rearing. The results showed that nickel accumulated in the 6th instar larvae, pupae and adults of S. litura, and the accu- mulated nickel in all the tested developmental stages within a generation increased with the increase of the nickel doses in the treated diets and showed significant dose-dependent relationship with the nickel doses in the artificial diets. The results also indicated that the nickel accumulations in the 6th instar larvae, pupae, and newly emerged adults from the 3rd generation were higher than those from the 2nd generation, which were also higher than those from the 1st generation. Nickel concentrations in pupae and adults were significantly lower than those in larvae, which indicated that the excessive nickel might be excreted during metamorphosis. 4Theoretical Progress and Key Technologies of Onshore Ultra-Deep Oil/Gas Exploration显示文摘Oil/gas exploration around the world has extended into deep and ultra-deep strata because it is increasingly difficult to find new large-scale oil/gas reservoirs in shallow–middle buried strata. In recent years, China has made remarkable achievements in oil/gas exploration in ultra-deep areas including carbonate and clastic reservoirs. Some (ultra) large-scale oil and gas fields have been discovered. The oil/gas accumulation mechanisms and key technologies of oil/gas reservoir exploration and development are summarized in this study in order to share China’s experiences. Ultra-deep oil/gas originates from numerous sources of hydrocarbons and multiphase charging. Liquid hydrocarbons can form in ultradeep layers due to low geothermal gradients or overpressures, and the natural gas composition in ultra-deep areas is complicated by the reactions between deep hydrocarbons, water, and rock or by the addition of mantle- or crust-sourced gases. These oils/gases are mainly stored in the original highenergy reef/shoal complexes or in sand body sediments. They usually have high original porosity. Secondary pores are often developed by dissolution, dolomitization, and fracturing in the late stage. The early pores have been preserved by retentive diageneses such as the early charging of hydrocarbons. Oil/gas accumulation in ultra-deep areas generally has the characteristics of near-source accumulation and sustained preservation. The effective exploration and development of ultra-deep oil/gas reservoirs depend on the support of key technologies. Use of the latest technologies such as seismic signal acquisition and processing, low porosity and permeability zone prediction, and gas–water identification has enabled the discovery of ultra-deep oil/gas resources. 5Advanced treatment of biologically pretreated coal gasification wastewater by a novel heterogeneous Fenton oxidation process显示文摘Sewage sludge from a biological wastewater treatment plant was converted into sewage sludge based activated carbon(SBAC) with Zn Cl2 as activation agent, which was used as a support for ferric oxides to form a catalyst(Fe Ox/SBAC) by a simple impregnation method.The new material was then used to improve the performance of Fenton oxidation of real biologically pretreated coal gasification wastewater(CGW). The results indicated that the prepared Fe Ox/SBAC significantly enhanced the pollutant removal performance in the Fenton process, so that the treated wastewater was more biodegradable and less toxic. The best performance was obtained over a wide p H range from 2 to 7, temperature 30°C, 15 mg/L of H2O2 and 1 g/L of catalyst, and the treated effluent concentrations of COD, total phenols,BOD5 and TOC all met the discharge limits in China. Meanwhile, on the basis of significant inhibition by a radical scavenger in the heterogeneous Fenton process as well as the evolution of FT-IR spectra of pollutant-saturated Fe Ox/BAC with and without H2O2, it was deduced that the catalytic activity was responsible for generating hydroxyl radicals, and a possible reaction pathway and interface mechanism were proposed. Moreover, Fe Ox/SBAC showed superior stability over five successive oxidation runs. 6Simultaneous removal of uranium and humic acid by cyclodextrin modified graphene oxide nanosheets显示文摘Cyclodextrin-modified graphene oxide nanosheets(denoted as CD/GO) were synthesized by an in-situ polymerization method and characterized by as well as Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and potentiometric acid-base titration. The characterization results indicated that CD was successfully grafted onto GO surfaces by forming a chemical bond. Mutual effects on the simultaneous removal of hexavalent uranium and humic acid by CD/GO from aqueous solution were investigated. The results indicated that U(VI) and humic acid(HA) sorption on CD/GO were greatly affected by pH and ionic strength. The presence of HA enhanced U(VI) sorption at low pH and reduced U(VI) sorption at high pH, whereas the presence of U(VI) enhanced HA sorption. The surface adsorbed HA acted as a 'bridge' between U(VI) and CD/GO, and formed strong inner-sphere surface complexes with U(VI). Sorption isotherms of U(VI) or HA on CD/GO could be well fitted by the Langmuir model. 7Design optimization of a C-band traveling-wave accelerating structure for a compact X-ray Free Electron Laser facility显示文摘The research and development of a C-band (5712 MHz) high gradient traveling-wave accelerating structure has been in progress for some years at the Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Conceptual design of the accelerating structure has been accomplished, and verified by cold testing an experimental model. The first prototype structure is now ready for high RF power tests. To develop a robust high gradient C-band accelerating structure, an optimized constant gradient structure with a 4 /5 operating mode for future X-ray Free Electron Laser facilities is proposed in this paper. This scheme can improve the breakdown stability and beam quality. 8Curcumenol triggered ferroptosis in lung cancer cells via lncRNA H19/miR-19b-3p/FTH1 axis显示文摘Curcumenol,an effective ingredient of Wenyujin,has been reported that exerted its antitumor potential in a few cancer types.However,the effect and molecular mechanism of curcumenol in lung cancer are largely unknown.Here,we found that curcumenol induced cell death and suppressed cell proliferation in lung cancer cells.Next,we demonstrated that ferroptosis was the predominant method that contributed to curcumenol-induced cell death of lung cancer in vitro and vivo for the first time.Subsequently,using RNA sequencing,we found that the long non-coding RNA H19(lncRNA H19)was significantly downregulated in lung cancer cells treated with curcumenol,when compared to untreated controls.Overexpression of lncRNA H19 eliminated the anticancer effect of curcumenol,while lncRNA H19 knockdown promoted ferroptosis induced by curcumenol treatment.Mechanistically,we showed that lncRNA H19 functioned as a competing endogenous RNA to bind to miR-19b-3p,thereby enhanced the transcription activity of its endogenous target,ferritin heavy chain 1(FTH1),a marker of ferroptosis.In conclusion,our data show that the natural product curcumenol exerted its antitumor effects on lung cancer by triggering ferroptosis,and the lncRNA H19/miR-19b-3p/FTH1 axis plays an essential role in curcumenol-induced ferroptotic cell death.Therefore,our findings will hopefully provide a valuable drug for treating lung cancer patients.Ruonan Zhang Ting Pan Yu Xiang Mingming Zhang Han Xie Zimao Liang Bi Chen Cong Xu Jing Wang Xingxing Huang Qianru Zhu Ziming Zhao Quan Gao Chengyong Wen Wencheng Liu Weirui Ma Jiao Feng Xueni Sun Ting Duan Elaine Lai-Han Leung Tian Xie Qibiao Wu Xinbing Sui 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,7:8
9Comparative filtration and dewatering behavior of vitrinite and inertinite of bituminous coal:Experiment and simulation study显示文摘The filtration and dewatering of fine clean coal not only ensure industrial water recycle in coal washing plant,but also reduce the moisture of coal product in order to meet the requirements of combustion or coking industry.Fine clean coal is mainly composed by organic matter,and the property difference of different organic matter determines the filtration and dewatering behavior.In this investigation,vitrinite and inertinite were separated from a clean bituminous coal,and the comparative filtration and dewatering behavior of vitrinite and inertinite were conducted.The results showed that inertinite has lower dewatering rate and higher filter cake moisture than vitrinite.The analysis of filter cake structure showed that inertinite particle is easier to be broken into small particles due to the difference of mechanical properties,thus forming more compact filter cake than vitrinite.The analysis of particle surface properties showed that vitrinite is more hydrophobic than inertinite,which makes water easier drained from filter cake.The simulation study showed that the structure of inertinite is more porous than that of vitrinite,and the interaction between inertinite and water is stronger than that between vitrinite and water.This study provides a theoretical basis for improving coal dewatering by selectively improving coal maceral hydrophobicity.An Ping Wencheng Xia Yaoli Peng Guangyuan Xie 2021International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2021,31,2:7
10Relevance between abutment pressure and fractal dimension of crack network induced by mining显示文摘Based on the geological conditions of coal mining face No.15-14120 at No.8 mine of Pingdingshan coal mining group,the real-time evolution of coal-roof crack network with working face advancing was collected with the help of intrinsically safe borehole video instrument.And according to the geology of this working face,a discrete element model was calculated by UDEC.Combining in situ experimental data with numerical results,the relationship between the fractal dimension of boreholes'wall and the distribution of advanced abutment pressure was studied under the condition of mining advance.The results show that the variation tendency of fractal dimension and the abutment pressure has the same characteristic value.The distance between working face and the peak value of the abutment pressure has a slight increasing trend with the advancing of mining-face.When the working face is set as the original point,the trend of fractal dimension from the far place to the origin can be divided into three phases:constant,steady increasing and constant.And the turning points of these phases are the max-influencing distance(50 m)and peak value(15 m)of abutment pressure.Gao Mingzhong Jin Wencheng Dai Zhixu Xie Jing 2013International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2013,23,6:7
11African Swine Fever Virus Protein E199L Promotes Cell Autophagy through the Interaction of PYCR2显示文摘African swine fever virus(ASFV),as a member of the large DNA viruses,may regulate autophagy and apoptosis by inhibiting programmed cell death.However,the function of ASFV proteins has not been fully elucidated,especially the role of autophagy in ASFV infection.One of three Pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductases(PYCR),is primarily involved in conversion of glutamate to proline.Previous studies have shown that depletion of PYCR2 was related to the induction of autophagy.In the present study,we found for the first time that ASFV E199 L protein induced a complete autophagy process in Vero and HEK-293 T cells.Through co-immunoprecipitation coupled with mass spectrometry(Co IP-MS)analysis,we firstly identified that E199 L interact with PYCR2 in vitro.Importantly,our work provides evidence that E199 L down-regulated the expression of PYCR2,resulting in autophagy activation.Overall,our results demonstrate that ASFV E199 L protein induces complete autophagy through interaction with PYCR2 and down-regulate the expression level of PYCR2,which provide a valuable reference for the role of autophagy during ASFV infection and contribute to the functional clues of PYCR2.Sheng Chen Xinheng Zhang Yu Nie Hongxin Li Weiguo Chen Wencheng Lin Feng Chen Qingmei Xie 2021Virologica Sinica2021,36,2:7

13Impact of serum levels of lipoprotein lipase, hepatic lipase, and endothelial lipase on the progression of coronary artery disease显示文摘Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between serum levels of lipoprotein lipase(LPL), hepatic lipase(HL), and endothelial lipase(EL) and the progression of coronary artery disease(CAD).Materials and methods: According to the inclusion criteria, exclusion criteria, diagnostic criteria, angiography results, and the random matching scheme, the enrolled patients were divided into the following two groups: the progression-free group(n ? 47) and the progression group(n ? 15). The baseline characteristics and various biochemical parameters were obtained from the medical records and medical history. Serum LPL, HL, and EL levels were detected by ELISA. The correlation between serum LPL, HL, and EL levels and coronary lesions was statistically analyzed with SPSS software.Results: Significant differences were observed in serum levels of HL and EL between the progression-free group and the progression group(HL, 75.5 ? 39.2 ng/mL vs. 125.1 ? 42.1 ng/mL, P < 0.05;EL, 139.2 ? 59.6 pg/mL vs.175.1 ? 40.1 pg/mL, P < 0.05), while the difference in the LPL level was not significant(P > 0.05). Receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC) analysis showed that the area under the curve(AUC) values of LPL, HL, and EL were 0.506(95% CI: 0.369–0.642, P ? 0.9470), 0.792(95% CI: 0.664–0.888, P < 0.0001), and 0.693(95% CI:0.553–0.811, P ? 0.0095), respectively. Additionally, logistic regression analysis showed that the serum level of HL was an independent risk factor for coronary artery lesion progression.Conclusion: Serum levels of EL and HL, but not the serum level of LPL, were positively correlated with the progression of CAD. The serum level of HL was an independent risk factor for the progression of CAD, while the serum level of EL or LPL was not an independent risk factor for the progression of CAD. 14Effects of dietary nickel on detoxification enzyme activities in the midgut of Spodoptera litura Fabricius larvae显示文摘Nickel accumulated in midugt of Spodoptera litura Fabricius could induce the expression of metal-lothionein,one of the most important detoxification proteins in organisms.In the present study,the effects of dietary nickel on the activities of detoxification enzymes,such as carboxylesterase(CarE) and glutathione S-transferase(GST) in the midgut of S.litura larvae have been studied to get an un-derstanding of the detoxification mechanisms of S.litura larvae to excessive nickel.Results showed that CarE activities in the midgut of the 5th instar larvae decreased at lower levels of nickel(≤5 mg/kg),while increased with increasing nickel doses at higher levels of nickel(≥10 mg/kg) exposure in suc-cessive 3 generations.CarE activities of the 6th instar larvae were also characterized as inhibited at low levels of nickel exposure,and improved at higher levels in the 1st generation.CarE activities of 6th instar larvae in the 2nd and 3rd generations were all lower than that in control.However,GST activities in the midgut of the 5th and 6th instar larvae all increased with increasing nickel doses(1―20 mg/kg) in diets.SUN HongXia ZHOU Qiang TANG WenCheng SHU YingHua ZHANG GuRen 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,21:5
15Study on correlation between humic acid and selenium in Kaschin-Beck disease areas显示文摘The relationship between humic acid and selenium content was studied in this research. The results of calculation showed that there is more humic acid and less selenium in Kaschin-Beck disease areas in China. Fulvic acid in soil could increase selenium level in plants. The chemical bonding between humic acid and selenium was observed with an I.R. spectroscope. 16Reduction of polyethylenimine-coated iron oxide nanoparticles induced autophagy and cytotoxicity by lactosylation显示文摘Superparamagnetic iron oxide(SPIO)nanoparticles are excellent magnetic resonance contrast agents and surface engineering can expand their applications.When covered with amphiphilic alkyl-polyethyleneimine(PEI),the modified SPIO nanoparticles can be used as MRI visible gene/drug delivery carriers and cell tracking probes.However,the positively charged amines of PEI can also cause cytotoxicity and restricts their further applications.In this study,we used lactose to modify amphiphilic low molecular weight polyethylenimine(C_(12-)PEI_(2K))at different lactosylation degree.It was found that the N-alkyl-PEI-lactobionic acid wrapped SPIO nanocomposites show better cell viability without compromising their labelling efficacy as well as MR imaging capability in RAW 264.7 cells,comparing to the unsubstituted ones.Besides,we found the PEI induced cell autophagy can be reduced via lactose modification,indicating the increased cell viability might rely on down-regulating autophagy.Thus,our findings provide a new approach to overcome the toxicity of PEI wrapped SPIO nanocomposites by lactose modification.Jiuju Du Wencheng Zhu Li Yang Changqiang Wu Bingbing Lin Jun Wu Rongrong Jin Taipeng Shen Hua Ai 2016Regenerative Biomaterials2016,3,4:5
17Feature Selection Method Based on Class Discriminative Degree for Intelligent Medical Diagnosis显示文摘By using efficient and timely medical diagnostic decision making,clinicians can positively impact the quality and cost of medical care.However,the high similarity of clinical manifestations between diseases and the limitation of clinicians’knowledge both bring much difficulty to decision making in diagnosis.Therefore,building a decision support system that can assist medical staff in diagnosing and treating diseases has lately received growing attentions in the medical domain.In this paper,we employ a multi-label classification framework to classify the Chinese electronic medical records to establish corresponding relation between the medical records and disease categories,and compare this method with the traditional medical expert system to verify the performance.To select the best subset of patient features,we propose a feature selection method based on the composition and distribution of symptoms in electronic medical records and compare it with the traditional feature selection methods such as chi-square test.We evaluate the feature selection methods and diagnostic models from two aspects,false negative rate(FNR)and accuracy.Extensive experiments have conducted on a real-world Chinese electronic medical record database.The evaluation results demonstrate that our proposed feature selection method can improve the accuracy and reduce the FNR compare to the traditional feature selection methods,and the multi-label classification framework have better accuracy and lower FNR than the traditional expert system.Shengqun Fang Zhiping Cai Wencheng Sun Anfeng Liu Fang Liu Zhiyao Liang Guoyan Wang 2018Computers, Materials & Continua2018,,6:5
18Enclosed stigma contributes to higher spikelet fertility for rice(Oryza sativa L.) subjected to heat stress显示文摘With global warming, rice plants may be subjected to heat stress more regularly during the heatsensitive flowering stage, causing spikelet sterility and grain yield loss.Stigma exsertion is considered to increase pollen reception and promote female reproductive success.The aim of this study was to investigate the role of stigma exsertion on spikelet fertility at high temperatures.Five rice cultivars(Liangyoupeijiu, Shanyou 63, Huanghuazhan, Nagina 22, and IR64) with differing degrees of stigma exsertion were cultivated and exposed to high temperature at anthesis.Heat-tolerant cultivars did not always show a high percentage of spikelets with exserted stigmas, and vice versa.Irrespective of the presence of more pollen grains on exserted stigmas, spikelets with exserted stigmas did not show greater spikelet fertility than spikelets with fewer exserted stigmas or hidden stigmas under heat stress.GA3 application augmented the percentage of spikelets with exserted stigmas;however, it did not increase spikelet fertility under heat stress.Spikelet fertility of whole panicles was negatively correlated with the percentage of spikelets with exserted stigmas, but positively with that with hidden stigmas.Viability of the hidden stigmas was less reduced than that of exserted stigmas under heat stress, suggesting that hidden stigmas have an advantage in maintaining viability.Heat stress delayed anther dehiscence and reduced the viabilities of both exserted stigmas and pollens, thereby causing low spikelet fertility.Together, these results suggest that high spikelet fertility does not depend on stigma exsertion and that enclosed stigma generally contributes to higher spikelet fertility and heat tolerance under high-temperature conditions during flowering in rice.Chao Wu Kehui Cui Qiuqian Hu Wencheng Wang Lixiao Nie Jianliang Huang Shaobing Peng 2019The Crop Journal2019,7,3:4
19Metallothionein expression induced by nickel accumulation in the midgut of Spodoptera litura Fabricius larvae exposed to nickel显示文摘Metallothionein expression induced by nickel accumulation in the midgut of Spodoptera litura Fabri- cius larvae was investigated by exposing S. litura larvae to the artificial diets amended with different doses of nickel for 3 generations. Nickel accumulations in the midgut of 6th instar larvae were detected by Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometer (ICP-AES), and the induced metal- lothionein expression in the midgut of 5th and 6th instar larvae in 120 h were quantified using cad- mium-hemoglobin total saturation methods. The accumulated nickel in the midgut of the 6th instar larvae within a generation increased with the increase of the nickel doses in the treated diets and showed significant dose-dependence with the nickel doses in diets. Metallothioneins induced by nickel accumulated in the larval midgut also increased with nickel doses in diets and with the increasing stressing time in a generation. 20Effects of dietary nickel on apoptosis of hemocytes of Spodoptera litura (Fabricius) larvae显示文摘Effects of dietary nickel on apoptosis of hemocytes of the 6th instar larvae of Spodoptera litura Fabricius were evaluated using flow cytometry and Laser Scanning Confocal Microscopy (LSCM) by feeding S. litura larvae with artificial diets amended with different concentrations of nickel (1, 5, 10, 20 and 40 mg/kg) for 3 generations. Results showed that the hemocyte apoptosis rate of the 1st generation larvae increased with the increasing nickel concentrations in diet, and the apoptosis rate in the treatment with 40 mg/kg nickel was significantly higher than that in other treatments. In the 2nd generation, the highest hemocytes apoptosis rate was recorded in the treatment of the larvae exposed to 5 mg/kg nickel. The apoptosis rates in the larvae stressed by higher concentrations of nickel were lower than that in control. The apoptosis rates in the larvae exposed to nickel for 3 generations showed similar concentration-responses with that in the 2nd generation. However, the apoptosis rates in the larvae stressed with higher levels of nickel were all significantly inhibited in comparison with that in control.
