| 1 | Applications of controlled inversion strategies in carbohydrate synthesis显示文摘Carbohydrates play critical roles in mediating many biological processes, such as cell growth, migration,cell-cell adhesion, fertilization, signal transduction and immune response. The increasing demands for the study of these molecules greatly facilitate the development of carbohydrate synthesis. Inversion strategies via sulfonyl groups, selective reductions, etc. have been used to synthesize corresponding inverted configurations. | 2 | Synthesis of medium-chain-length-polyhydroxyalkanoates in tobacco via chloroplast genetic engineering显示文摘Medium-chain-length-polyhydroxyalkanoates (mcl-PHAs) belong to the group of microbial polyesters con- taining monomers ranging from 6 to 14 carbons in length. The key enzymes of their biosynthesis are PHA-polymerase (product of phaC gene) and 3-hydroxyacyl-acyl carrier pro- tein-CoA transferase (product of phaG gene). With aadA (aminoglycoside 3′-adenylyltransferase) gene as screening marker, two chloroplast transformation vectors of pTC2 harboring phaC2 gene only and pTGC harboring both phaC and phaG genes were constructed and introduced into to- bacco chloroplast genome through particle bombardment. PCR and Southern blot analysis confirmed the insertion of the introduced genes into chloroplast genome. The content of mcl-PHAs accumulated in transgenic plants was analyzed by gas chromatography, mcl-PHAs accumulated up to 4.8 mg/g dry weight (dw) in transgenic line S4-3; their monomers were 3-hydroxyoctanoate and 3-hydroxydecanoate. Accumulation of mcl-PHAs polymers in the tobacco chloroplast was also observed by transmission electron microscopy. | 3 | Assessment of drought risk for winter wheat on the Huanghuaihai Plain under climate change using an EPIC model-based approach显示文摘Climate change-induced drought poses a serious negative impact on global crop production and food security.The Huang Huai Hai(HHH)Plain,one of the most important grain production areas in China,is heavenly stricken by drought.Motivated by formulating drought risk prevention strategies that adapt to climate change on the HHH Plain,therefore,the present study aims to quantitatively evaluate the winter wheat drought risk under multiple climate scenarios using the Environmental Policy Impact Climate(EPIC)model.Based on the well-validated EPIC model,the drought hazard intensity(dHI),physical vulnerability(pV),and drought risk(dR)of the HHH Plain from 2010 to 2099 are assessed.Temporally,the dR showed an increasing trend in the long term,the high dR areas increased by 0.63%and 1.18%under the RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 scenarios,respectively.Spatially,dR showed a pattern of high in the south and low in the north whether under RCP4.5 or RCP8.5 scenario.Comparatively,the dR was 0.211 under the RCP4.5 scenario which was slightly higher than that under the RCP8.5 scenario,i.e.0.207.The Huanghuai Plain agricultural subregion will be a high dHI-pV-dR region.The temperature increase might be the main factor affecting the wheat drought risk. | Yaojie Yue Wuqiong Yang Lin Wang | 2022 | International Journal of Digital Earth2022,15,1: | 1 |

| 5 | NUMERICAL RESEARCHES ON INTERACTION BETWEEN PROPELLERS IN UNIFORM FLOW显示文摘Numerical simulations of the flow around two bidirectional staggered propellers are conducted in uniform flow. The computed open water performance of the fore-propeller is compared with the corresponding experimental results, and the influence of the fore-propeller on the aft one is carefully investigated. It is found that the inflow around the aft propeller close to the side of the fore is especially affected by the fore one, leading to abnormal circumferential distribution of force on the blade in the shade region. For either forces or velocity distributions, the abnormal changes behave contrarily for cases with the rotating speed larger or smaller than the idle.
