1Catalytic conversion of lignocellulosic biomass into chemicals and fuels显示文摘In the search of alternative resources to make commodity chemicals and transportation fuels for a low carbon future,lignocellulosic biomass with over 180-billion-ton annual production rate has been identified as a promising feedstock.This review focuses on the state-of-the-art catalytic transformation of lignocellulosic biomass into value-added chemicals and fuels.Following a brief introduction on the structure,major resources and pretreatment methods of lignocellulosic biomass,the catalytic conversion of three main components,i.e.,cellulose,hemicellulose and lignin,into various compounds are comprehensively discussed.Either in separate steps or in one-pot,cellulose and hemicellulose are hydrolyzed into sugars and upgraded into oxygen-containing chemicals such as 5-HMF,furfural,polyols,and organic acids,or even nitrogen-containing chemicals such as amino acids.On the other hand,lignin is first depolymerized into phenols,catechols,guaiacols,aldehydes and ketones,and then further transformed into hydrocarbon fuels,bioplastic precursors and bioactive compounds.The review then introduces the transformations of whole biomass via catalytic gasification,catalytic pyrolysis,as well as emerging strategies.Finally,opportunities,challenges and prospective of woody biomass valorization are highlighted.Weiping Deng Yunchao Feng Jie Fu Haiwei Guo Yong Guo Buxing Han Zhicheng Jiang Lingzhao Kong Changzhi Li Haichao Liu Phuc T.T.Nguyen Puning Ren Feng Wang Shuai Wang Yanqin Wang Ye Wang Sie Shing Wong Kai Yan Ning Yan Xiaofei Yang Yuanbao Zhang Zhanrong Zhang Xianhai Zeng Hui Zhou 2023Green Energy & Environment2023,8,1:6
2Effects of substituent position on the interactions between PBDEs/PCBs and DOM显示文摘Dissolved organic matters (DOM) have important influence on the environmental behavior and fate of organic pollutants, therefore rationalization of interaction mechanisms between pollutants and DOM has become a hot topic in the field of environmental studies. In this paper, polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), widely detected pollutants, were chosen as target compounds. The effects of substituent position on the interaction between PBDEs/PCBs and DOM were explored. Equilibrium dialysis technique combined with quantum chemistry and molecular docking calculations were employed to reveal the interaction mechanism from the view of charge distribution and molecular conformation. It is shown that non-ortho-substituted isomers have larger volumes and stronger hydrophobicity than those of ortho-substituted, therefore non-ortho-substituted isomers bind more favorably with DOM by hydrophobic partition. By calculating the atomic charge distribution of target chemicals and Leonardite humic acid (LHA) molecular model, π-πinteractions between the aromatic rings of target chemicals with LHA are proposed and further proved in molecular docking calculations. There were 10, 8, 6 docking conformations demonstrating π-πinteraction with LHA for CB-77, BDE-77 and BDE-47, respectively, but none was found for CB-47. By comparing the change of dihedral angle of the aromatic rings and energy barrier, non-ortho-substituted PBDEs/PCBs have larger dihedral angle adjustment space and flexibility, which results in stronger interaction and binding capability with DOM than ortho-substituted isomers. 3Toward rational design of amines for CO_2 capture: Substituent effect on kinetic process for the reaction of monoethanolamine with CO_2显示文摘Amines have been considered as promising candidates for post-combustion CO2 capture. A mechanistic understanding for the chemical processes involved in the capture and release of CO2 is important for the rational design of amines. In this study, the structural effects of amines on the kinetic competition among three typical products(carbamates, carbamic acids and bicarbonate) from amines + CO2 were investigated, in contrast to previous thermodynamic studies to tune the reaction of amines with CO2 based on desirable reaction enthalpy and reaction stoichiometry. We used a quantum chemical method to calculate the activation energies(Ea) for the reactions of a range of substituted monoethanolamines with CO2 covering three pathways to the three products. The results indicate that the formation of carbamates is the most favorable, among the three considered products. In addition, we found that the Eavalues for all pathways linearly correlate with pK aof amines, and more importantly, the kinetic competition between carbamate and bicarbonate absorption pathways varies with p Kaof the amines, i.e. stronger basicity results in less difference in Ea. 4Complex conforming Delaunay triangulation显示文摘A novel algorithm of conforming Delaunay triangulation for curved geometry is presented in the paper.A progress has been made for the problem puzzled Delaunay refinement where curved constraints cannot be accepted as input directly.The algorithm is based on a new sufficient condition for the existence of constraints in triangulation.It requires computing only the intersection between constraints and Voronoi edges or faces instead of the circum-sphere of curved constraint.For the termination of the algorithm when small input angles exist in constraints, a weighted method is applied to ensure that the algorithm can terminate under any input.Some two-dimensional and three-dimensional results are also presented.It is shown that the algorithm has the capability of dealing with both linear and nonlinear constraints in a consistent way, without the need of maintaining triangular meshes on face constraints.MENG XianHai LI JiGang YANG Qin CAI Qiang CHEN QiMing 2010Science China(Information Sciences)2010,53,6:3

6The transcription factor Sox30 is involved in Nile tilapia spermatogenesis显示文摘Spermatogenesis is a complex process in which spermatogonial stem cells differentiate and develop into mature spermatozoa.The transcriptional regulatory network involved in fish spermatogenesis remains poorly understood.Here,we demonstrate in Nile tilapia that the Sox transcription factor family member Sox30 is specifically expressed in the testes and mainly localizes to spermatocytes and spermatids.CRISPR/Cas9-mediated sox30 mutation results in abnormal spermiogenesis,reduction of sperm motility,and male subfertility.Comparative transcriptome analysis shows that sox30 mutation alters the expression of genes involved in spermatogenesis.Further chromatin immunoprecipitation followed by high-throughput sequencing(Ch IP-seq),Ch IP-PCR,and luciferase reporter assays revealed that Sox30 positively regulates the transcription of ift140 and ptprb,two genes involved in spermiogenesis,by directly binding to their promoters.Our data,taken together,indicate that Sox30 plays an essential role in Nile tilapia spermatogenesis by directly regulating the transcription of the spermiogenesis-related genes ift140 and ptprb.Ling Wei Yaohao Tang Xianhai Zeng Yueqin Li Song Zhang Li Deng Lingsong Wang Deshou Wang 2022Journal of Genetics and Genomics2022,49,7:2
7A Positive Feedback Loop of BBX11–BBX21–HY5 Promotes Photomorphogenic Development in Arabidopsis显示文摘Light is the most important environmental factor affecting many aspects of plant development.In this study,we report that B-box protein 11(BBX11)acts as a positive regulator of red light signaling.BBX11 loss-of-function mutant seedlings display significantly elongated hypocotyls under conditions of both red light and long day,whereas BBX11 overexpression causes markedly shortened hypocotyls under various light states.BBX11 binds to the HY5 promoter to activate its transcription,while both BBX21 and HY5 associate with the promoter of BBX11 to positively regulate its expression.Taken together,our results reveal positive feedback regulation of photomorphogenesis consisting of BBX11,BBX21,and HY5,thus substantiating a transcriptional regulatory mechanism in the response of plants to light during normal development.Xianhai Zhao Yueqin Heng Xuncheng Wang Xing Wang Deng Dongqing Xu 2020Plant Communications2020,1,5:2
8Catalytic transfer hydrogenation of biomass-derived furfural to furfuryl alcohol with formic acid as hydrogen donor over CuCs-MCM catalyst显示文摘Catalytic transfer hydroge nation(CTH)of furfural(FF)to furfu ryl alcohol(FFA)has received great intere st in recent years.He rein,Cu-Cs bimetallic supported catalyst,CuCs(2)-MCM,was developed for the CTH of FF to FFA using formic as hydrogen donor.CuCs(2)-MCM achieved a 99.6%FFA yield at an optimized reaction conditions of 170℃,1 h.Cu species in CuCs(2)-MCM had dual functions in catalytically decomposing formic acid to generate hydrogen and hydrogenating FF to FFA.The doping of Cs made the size of Cu particles smaller and improved the dispersion of the Cu active sites.Impo rtantly,the Cs species played a favorable role in enhancing the hydrogenation activity as a promoter by adjusting the surface acidity of Cu species to an appropriate level.Correlation analysis showed that surface acidity is the primary factor to affect the catalytic activity of CuCs(2)-MCM.Tao Wang Juan Du Yong Sun Xing Tang Zuo-Jun Wei Xianhai Zeng Shi-Jie Liu Lu Lin 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,3:2
9One-pot synthesis of 2,5-bis(hydroxymethyl)furan from biomass derived 5-(chloromethyl)furfural in high yield显示文摘5-(Chloromethyl)furfural(CMF),as a new platform molecular,has become a hot topic in the field of biorefinery.Herein,the one-pot conversion of CMF to 2,5-bis(hydroxymethyl)furan(BHMF)in the water phase was demonstrated for the first time.A 91%BHMF yield was obtained over Ru/Cu Oxcatalyst,and BHMF was mainly produced by the consecutive hydrolysis and hydrogenation of CMF with 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF)as an intermediate.Kinetic studies revealed that the conversion of HMF to BHMF was the rate-determining step.Remarkably,the characterizations and density functional theory(DFT)calculations further revealed the lower electron density of Ru NPs in Ru/Cu Oxcatalyst,resulting in a larger adsorption energy and a smaller free energy difference for the formation of alcohols.The present findings offered a new pathway for biomass-derived diol production through CMF as a potential source.Binglin Chen Yunchao Feng Sen Ma Weizhen Xie Guihua Yan Zheng Li Jonathan Sperry Shuliang Yang Xing Tang Yong Sun Lu Lin Xianhai Zeng 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,1:1

15Synthesis of bis(amino)furans from biomass based 5-hydroxymethyl furfural显示文摘In this study we report a new reaction pathway in which the hydroxyl and the aldehyde groups of 5-hydroxymethyl furfural were aminated respectively. Hydroxyl group was aminated via Ritter reaction followed by direct reductive amination of aldehyde group. For the Ritter reaction of 5-hydroxymethyl furfural, mixture of trifluoromethane sulfonic acid and phosphoric anhydride showed good performance and the intermediate N-acyl-5-aminomethyl furfural with the highest yield of 89.1 wt% was obtained.Optimization of direct reductive amination of 2,5-bis(aminomethyl) furan was conducted and a yield of45.7 wt% was achieved. 16Base-free oxidative esterification of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural to furan-2,5-dimethylcarboxylate over n-doped carbon-supported Co/Fe bimetallic catalyst under batch-operation or continuous-flow conditions显示文摘Developing an efficient and easily available catalyst for the selective conversion of biomass-derived 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF)into furan-2,5-dimethylcarboxylate(FDMC),a valuable biomass-based monomer,remains a high demand but formidable challenge.Herein,a facile strategy for the synthesis of N-doped carbon-supported Co/Fe bimetallic catalyst(CoFe-NC)was developed,which provided an outstanding FDMC yield of 93%in a batch reactor(base-free,80℃,2 bar O_(2),4 h).Interestingly,CoFe-NC also gave a high FDMC yield of 91%under continuous-flow conditions for 80 h(5 bar O_(2),80℃,GHSV 1320 h^(-1),LHSV 0.6 h^(-1),base-free).Notably,it is the first time that a non-noble catalyst gave such a high FDMC yield under continuous-flow conditions.The introduction of Fe could greatly improve both the electron intensity of Co-N_(x)species and basicity of the catalyst,which endowed CoFe-NC with improved O_(2)activation capacity and enhanced dehydrogenation activity for the oxidation-esterification of HMF.This work delineates the efficient strategy on the construction of N-doped carbon-supported non-noble catalyst,which might open a new avenue for developing highly efficient catalyst for FDMC production.Weizhen Xie Binglin Chen Wenlong Jia Huai Liu Zheng Li Shuliang Yang Xing Tang Xianhai Zeng Yong Sun Xixian Ke Tianyuan Li Huayu Fang Lu Lin 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,,12:1
