Reaction between Ti and boron nitride based investment shell molds used for casting titanium alloys显示文摘The aim of this paper was to study the reaction between a Ti-6Al-4V alloy and boron nitride based investment shell molds used for invest- ment casting titanium. In BN based investment shell molds, the face coatings are made of pretreated hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) with a few yttria (Y2O3) and colloidal yttria as binder. The Ti-6Al-4V alloy was melted in a controlled atmosphere induction furnace with a segment water-cooled copper crucible. The cross-section of reaction interface between Ti alloys and shell mold was investigated by electron probe micro-analyzer (EPMA) and microhardness tester. The results show that the reaction is not serious, the thickness of the reacting layer is about 30-50 μm, and the thickness of α-case is about 180-200 μm. Moreover the α-case formation mechanism was also discussed. | LILT Hongbao SHEN Bin ZHU Ming ZHOU Xing MAO Xiemin | 2008 | Rare Metals2008,27,6: | 9
INTERFACE MORPHOLOGIES AND MICROSTRUCTURES DURING DENDRITE-TO-CELL TRANSITION AT HIGH GROWTH RATE显示文摘The interface morphologies and microstruetures of the directionally solidified Ni-5wt-% Cualloy during dendrite-to-cell transition at high growth rates have been investigated with anewly developed apparatus for unidirectional solidification with the temperature gradient atthe solid/liquid interface higher than 1000 K/cm.The results show that in the vicinity ofdendrite-to-cell transition point, the well developed sidebranches become shrivelled with theincrease of growth rate and disappear at the dendrite-to-cell transition, and the primaryspacing decreases simultaneously. Moreover, the length of mushy zone decreases greatly dur-ing the dendrite-to-cell transition.Cells obtained at high growth rates have very similarmorphologies to those at low growth rates, but with much smaller cell spacings andunsmoothed cell walls which may be attributed to the different stability conditions of the cellwalls at low and high growth rates respectively. | LI Jianguo MAO Xiemin FU Hengzhi National Laboratory of solidification Technology,Northwestern Polytechnical University,Xi’an,China Lecturer.Faculty No.403,Northwestern Polytechnical University,Xi’an 710072,China | 1991 | Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)1991,4,1: | 2

| 7 | Influence of Crystal Orientation on the Morphology of a Single Crystal Superalloy during Directional Solidification显示文摘The solid-liquid(S/L) intedecial morphology of a single crystal superalloy DD8 has been in-vestigated. The evolutive behavior of cellular morphology with tilted preferred crystallographic orientation near cell-dendrite transition was dynamically observed, and the efFect of crystallo-graphic orientation on primary dendritic arm spacing has been examined. The experimental results show that for planar and cellular morphology no any S/L interfacial anisotropy exists, but near cell-dendrite transition, the S/L intedecial anisotropy appears and gives rise to the cellular crystal fingers tilted from thermal flow direction to preferred crystallographic orientation. The crystal fingers with their preferred orientation parallel to DS growth direction are more stable than that with tilted orientation. For the tilted fingers, the sudece on the side facing DS growth direction is less stable than that on the reverse side, the different stability on the two sides will lead to forming unsymmetrical dendritical microstructure. With the increase of tilted angle of preferred crystallographic orientation, the primary dendrite arm spacing decreases. | He, Guo Li, Jianguo Mao, Xiemin Fu, Hengzhi

MICROSCOPIC KINETICS OF NON-EQUILIBRIUM SOLIDIFICATION显示文摘Theoretical model for non-equilibrium solidification is constructed with consideration of diffuse interface and muliphase fhctuation. It can be degenerated to A(?)i(?) continuousgrowth model in the case of mono-atomic approximation. For large underecooling, thechange of heat eapacity should not be neglected and it usually gives an increase in the inter-face partition coefficient.Solute trapping may happen at a rather slow growth rate com-pared with that predicted by other models, because the undercooling and structural relaxa-tion ahead of the S/L interface lowers the interfacial diffusivity to a great extent. Phasefluctuation has two contending effects, decrease in energy barrier and increase in atomicdragging, therefore exerts dual influences on the partition coefficient. | CAl Yingwen, MAO Xiemin, LI Jianguo, FU HengzhiNorthwestern Polytechnieal University, Xi’an, China Manuscript received 14 March, 1994 | 1994 | Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)1994,7,2: | 0

Effect of bubble morphology and behavior on power consumption in non-Newtonian fluids’aeration process显示文摘Due to a prolonged operation time and low mass transfer efficiency, the primary challenge in the aeration process of non-Newtonian fluids is the high energy consumption, which is closely related to the form and rate of impeller, ventilation, rheological properties and bubble morphology in the reactor. In this perspective, through optimal computational fluid dynamics models and experiments, the relationship between power consumption, volumetric mass transfer rate(kLa) and initial bubble size(d0) was constructed to establish an efficient operation mode for the aeration process of non-Newtonian fluids. It was found that reducing the d0could significantly increase the oxygen mass transfer rate, resulting in an obvious decrease in the ventilation volume and impeller speed. When d0was regulated within 2-5 mm,an optimal kLa could be achieved, and 21% of power consumption could be saved, compared to the case of bubbles with a diameter of 10 mm. | Xiemin Liu Jing Wan Jinnan Sun Lin Zhang Feng Zhang Zhibing Zhang Xinyao Li Zheng Zhou | 2024 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2024,65,1: | 0
