1Temporal variability of iron concentrations and fractions in wetland waters in Sanjiang Plain, Northeast China显示文摘Chemical forms, reactivities and transformation of iron fractions in marshy waters were investigated with cross-flow filtration technique to study the iron environmental behavior. Iron fractions were divided into four parts: acid-labile iron (pre-acidification of unfiltered marshy water samples, > 0.7 μm), high-molecular-weight iron (0.7-0.05 μm), medium-molecular-weight iron (0.05-0.01 μm), and low-molecular-weight iron (< 0.01 μm). The cross-flow filtration suggested that iron primarily exist in both the > 0.7 μm and < 0.01 μm size fractions in marshy waters. Rainfall is the key for rain-fed wetland to determine fate of iron by changing the aquatic biochemical conditions. By monitoring the variation of iron concentrations and fractions over three years, it was found that dissolved iron and acid-labile iron concentrations exhibit a large variation extent under different annual rainfalls from 2006 to 2008. The seasonal variation for iron species proved that the surface temperature could control some conversion reactions of iron in marshy waters. Low- molecular-weight iron would convert to acid-labile iron gradually with temperature decreasing. The photochemical reactions of iron fractions, especially low-molecular-weight iron had occurred under solar irradiation. The relative proportion of low-molecular-weight in total dissolved iron ranging from 28.3% to 43.2% were found during the day time, which proved that the observed decreasing concentration of acid lability iron was caused by its degradation to low molecular weight iron.Xiaofeng Pan Baixing Yan Muneoki Yoh Lixia Wang Xiuqi Liu 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,7:4
2Relationships between tree-ring cell features of Pinus koraiensis and climate factors in the Changbai Mountains,Northeastern China显示文摘Anatomical characteristics have been proven useful for extracting climatic signals. To examine the climatic signals recorded by tree-ring cell features in the Changbai Mountains, we measured cell number and cell lumen diameter, in addition to ring widths, of Korean pine(Pinus koraiensis) tree rings at sites of varied elevation,and we developed chronologies of cell number(CN), mean lumen diameter(MLD), maximum lumen diameter(MAXLD) and tree-ring width(TRW). The chronologies were correlated with climatic factors monthly mean temperature and the sum of precipitation. As shown by our analysis, the cell parameter chronologies were suitable for dendroclimatology studies. CN and TRW shared relatively similar climatic signals which differed from MLD andMAXLD, and growth-climate relationships were elevationdependent, as shown by the following findings:(1) at each elevation, MLD and MAXLD recorded different monthly climatic signals from those recorded by TRW for the same climatic factors; and(2) MLD and MAXLD recorded climatic factors that were absent from TRW at lower and middle elevations. 7Novel recombinant R-spondin1 promotes hair regeneration by targeting the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway显示文摘Roof plate-specific spondin 1(R-spondin1,RSPO1)is a Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway activator that binds with Wnt ligands to stimulate the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway,which is key to hair regeneration.However,it is not clear whether recombinant RSPO1(rRSPO1)affects hair regeneration.Here,we treat C57BL/6 male mice with rRSPO1 and investigate the expression of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway and the activation of hair follicle stem cells in the dorsal skin.The mouse skin color score and hair-covered area are determined to describe hair growth,and the skin samples are subjected to H&E staining,western blot analysis and immunofluorescence staining to evaluate hair follicle development and the expressions of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway-related proteins.We find that rRSPO1 activates mouse hair follicle stem cells(mHFSCs)and accelerates hair regeneration.rRSPO1 increases the hair-covered area,the number of hair follicles,and the hair follicle diameter and length.Moreover,rRSPO1 enhances the activity of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway-related proteins and the expressions of HFSC markers,as well as mHFSC viability.These results indicate that subcutaneous injection of rRSPO1 can improve hair follicle development by activating the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway,thereby promoting hair regeneration.This study demonstrates that rRSPO1 has the potential to treat hair loss by activating the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.Yijun Chen Zhujin Lu Jiaxin Feng Zefeng Chen Zejian Liu Xiuqi Wang Huichao Yan Chunqi Gao 2023Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2023,55,8:0
8Rising grain prices in response to phased climatic change during 1736–1850 in the North China Plain显示文摘Grain price volatility during historical periods is regarded as an important indicator of the impact of climate change on economic system, as well as a key link to adjust food security and social stability. The present study used the wheat prices in Baoding Prefecture, China, during 1736–1850 to explore connections between climatic transition and grain price anomalies in the North China Plain. The main findings were as follows:(1) The grain price change showed an apparent correspondence with climatic transition. The period 1781–1820 was a transition phase, with more extremes and decreased precipitations when the climate shifted from a warm phase to a cold one. Corresponding with the climatic transition, the grain price during 1781–1820 was characterized by that the mean of the original grain price series was significantly higher(lower) than the previous(later)phase, and the variance and anomaly amplitude of the detrended grain price series was the highest during 1736–1850.(2) The correspondence between grain price extremes and drought events occurred in phases. Five grain price extremes occurred following drought events during 1781–1810, while extreme droughts were the direct cause of the grain price spike during 1811–1820.(3) Social stability affected by climate change also played an important role in the grain price spike between 1811 and 1820. Paralleling the pathway of 'precipitation-grain production-grain price', climate change could have an impact on grain price via the pathway of 'precipitation-grain production-grain price-famine-uprising-grain price', as shown during the Tianli Uprising in 1813. 10Manganese-doped mesoporous polydopamine nanoagent for T1-T2 magnetic resonance imaging and tumor therapy显示文摘Theranostic nanodrugs combining magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)and cancer therapy have attracted extensive interest in cancer diagnosis and treatment.Herein,a manganese(Mn)-doped mesoporous polydopamine(Mn-MPDA)nanodrug incorporating the nitric oxide(NO)prodrug BNN6 and immune agonist R848 was developed.The nanodrug responded to the H^(+)and glutathione being enriched in tumor microenvironment to release R848 and Mn^(2+).The abundant Mn^(2+)produced through a Fenton-like reaction enabled a highly sensitive T1-T2 dual-mode MRI for monitoring the tumor accumulation process of the nanodrug,based on which an MRI-guided laser irradiation was achieved to trigger the NO gas therapy.Meanwhile,R848 induced the re-polarization of tumor-promoting M2-like macrophage to a tumoricidal M1 phenotype.Consequently,a potent synergistic antitumor effect was realized in mice bearing subcutaneous 4T1 breast cancer,which manifested the great promise of this multifunctional nanoplatform in cancer treatment.Xiuqi Hou Xi Yang Yanwen Xu Jiayin Lin Fang Zhang Xiaohui Duan Sitong Liu Jie Liu Jun Shen Xintao Shuai Zhong Cao 2023Nano Research2023,16,2:0
11Global Environmental Change and National Security of China显示文摘The concept of security has been redefined since the 1990s. As one of the important factors threatening human security, global environmental change has become a new challenge to the national security and social development. The national security problems caused by global environmental change, on one hand, are closely related to the global environmental problems, and, on the other hand, are manifested in the conflicts of international affairs. The global environmental change severely challenges the future development of China.
