| 1 | The Archipelagic Ocean System of the Eastern Eurasian Tethys显示文摘Unlike typical oceans such as the wide and 'clean' Atlantic, the Tethys has been showing an archipelagic pattern during all its evolutionary stages. Compared with the traditional, wedge-shaped and relatively 'clean' ocean model, the archipelagic model is more suitable for the Tethys, especially the eastern Tethys. This paper demonstrates the eastern Tethys archipelagic system in terms of the subdivision, characteristics and evolutionary history of the QinlingQilian-Kunlun, South China and Xizang (Tibet)-Yunnan Regions of the eastern Eurasian Tethys. | YINHongfu ZHANGKexin FENGQinglai | 2004 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2004,78,1: | 19 |
| 2 | Determination of Fullerenes (C60/C70) from the Permian-Triassic Boundary in the Meishan Section of South China显示文摘Fullerenes (C 60 /C 70 ), clays and rocks near the Permian-Triassic (P/T) boundary in the Meishan section of South China are explored by means of comprehensive analytical techniques, including ultrasonic extraction with column purification, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of- flight mass spectrometry (MALDI TOF MS). The study confirms the existence of fullerenes toward the P/T event boundary and their absence in clays and limestones beyond the boundary. In particular, the white clay, known as the event boundary, contains fullerenes of 0.33 ppb, while the red material, as the first lamina fill of goethite and gypsum on the base of the white clay, contains fullerenes of 1.23 ppb, and the last lamina of 2.50 ppb. Significantly, distinct enrichment of fullerenes is coincident with the disappearance of fossil records of marine species (94%) just at the base of the white clay, implying that geological fullerenes would be one of temporal remnants led by the P/T catastrophic event. This work strongly supports that fullerenes would be one of significant records of the P/T catastrophic event but their origin remains to be studied further. | LIYanfang LIANGHandong YINHongfu SUNJing CAIHou'an RAOZhu RANFanlin | 2005 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2005,79,1: | 10 |
| 3 | Smithian Strata and Non-Smithian Strata显示文摘The International Stratigraphic Guide defined that all stratified or quasi-stratified rock bodies of the earth crust, including sedimentary, igneous, metamorphic, solidified and unsolidified ones, should be considered as research contents of stratigraphy. Traditional stratigraphy mainly involves strata formed under gravity mechanism, plus a few kinds of bedded volcanic rocks such as lava, pyroclastic rock and volcanic ash, as well as metamorphic sedimentary and volcano-sedimentary rocks. These traditional strata are regarded as Smithian strata in this paper. In modern stratigraphy, mechanism of strata formation includes not only gravity but also thermal (ophiolite), mechanic and tectonic forces (orogenic mélange and tectonite). In these above-mentioned non-gravitative conditions, the strata, formed complying with their own mechanisms but not with the law of superposition of Smithian stratigraphy, are called non-Smithian strata here. In mélange regions from orogenic belt, formations of non-Smithian strata could be classified into subduct-scrape-match, subduct-return-match, and subduct- overthrust types. | ZhangKexin YinHongfu ZhuYunhai WangGuocan FengQinglai GongYiming | 2004 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2004,15,3: | 1 |
| 4 | Climatic Instability Study of Lanzhou since Last Glacial Maximum显示文摘Organic carbon isotopes, CaCO 3 content, coupled with carbonate carbon and oxygen isotopes are presented for identifying the climatic instability of Lanzhou from the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM). A wavelet analysis of these indices was conducted in the Hongzuisi Section, Lanzhou area. The results indicate that some important variations dominated by global factors occurred in 11.5, 13.9, and 15.1 kaB.P. respectively. In addition, several abrupt oscillations on different time scales during the Holocene can be revealed, indicating the complexity of the climatic system. Although the mechanism of these events has not been interpreted successfully, wavelet analysis can offer a valuable mathematic tool for a detailed analysis and greater understanding of climatic instability, thus providing a useful basis for the research of abrupt events. | YangGuifang PengHongxia HuangChangsheng YinHongfu LiChang'an | 2005 | Journal of China University of Geosciences2005,16,1: | 0 |
