1Pneumoconiosis: current status and future prospects显示文摘Pneumoconiosis refers to a spectrum of pulmonary diseases caused by inhalation of mineral dust,usually as the result of certain occupations.The main pathological features include chronic pulmonary inflammation and progressive pulmonary fibrosis,which can eventually lead to death caused by respiratory and/or heart failure.Pneumoconiosis is widespread globally,seriously threatening global public health.Its high incidence and mortality lie in improper occupational protection,and in the lack of early diagnostic methods and effective treatments.This article reviews the epidemiology,safeguard procedures,diagnosis,and treatment of pneumoconiosis,and summarizes recent research advances and future research prospects.Xian-Mei Qi Ya Luo Mei-Yue Song Ying Liu Ting Shu Ying Liu Jun-Ling Pang Jing Wang Chen Wang 2021Chinese Medical Journal2021,,8:22
2Spatial Interpolation and Sample Size Optimization for Soil Copper(Cu) Investigation in Cropland Soil at County Scale Using Cokriging显示文摘Knowledge on spatial distribution and sampling size optimization of soil copper(Cu) could lay solid foundations for environmetal quality survey of agricultural soils at county scale.In this investigation,cokriging method was used to conduct the interpolation of Cu concentraiton in cropland soil in Shuangliu County,Sichuan Province,China.Based on the original 623 physicochmically measured soil samples,560,498,and 432 sub-samples were randomly selected as target variable and soil organic matter(SOM) of the whole original samples as auxiliary variable.Interpolation results using Cokriging under different sampling numbers were evaluated for their applicability in estimating the spatial distribution of soil Cu at county sacle.The results showed that the root mean square error(RMSE) produced by Cokriging decreased from 0.9 to 7.77%,correlation coefficient between the predicted values and the measured increased from 1.76 to 9.76% in comparison with the ordinary Kriging under the corresponding sample sizes.The prediction accuracy using Cokriging was still higher than original 623 data using ordinary Kriging even as sample size reduced 10%,and their interpolation maps were highly in agreement.Therefore,Cokriging was proven to be a more accurate and economic method which could provide more information and benefit for the studies on spatial distribution of soil pollutants at county scale.PANG Su,LI Ting-xuan,WANG Yong-dong,YU Hai-ying and LI Xi College of Resource and Environmental Science,Sichuan Agricultural University,Ya’an 625014,P.R.China 2009Agricultural Sciences in China2009,8,11:10
3A critical review on the application of biochar in environmental pollution remediation:Role of persistent free radicals(PFRs)显示文摘Biochar as an emerging carbonaceous material has exhibited a great potential in environmental application for its perfect adsorption ability.However,there are abundant persistent free radicals(PFRs)in biochar,so the direct and indirect PFRs-mediated removal of organic and inorganic contaminants by biochar was widely reported.In order to comprehend deeply the formation of PFRs in biochar and their interactions with contaminants,this paper reviews the formation mechanisms of PFRs in biochar and the PFRs-mediated environmental applications of biochar in recent years.Finally,future challenges in this field are also proposed.This review provides a more comprehensive understanding on the emerging applications of biochar from the viewpoint of the catalytic role of PFRs.Kun Luo Ya Pang Dongbo Wang Xue Li Liping Wang Min Lei Qi Huang Qi Yang 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,10:8
4Three-dimensional Culture of Human Airway Epithelium in Matrigel for Evaluation of Human Rhinovirus C and Bocavirus Infections显示文摘Objective Newly identified human rhinovirus C(HRV-C) and human bocavirus(HBoV) cannot propagate in vitro in traditional cell culture models; thus obtaining knowledge about these viruses and developing related vaccines are difficult. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a novel platform for the propagation of these types of viruses. Methods A platform for culturing human airway epithelia in a three-dimensional(3 D) pattern using Matrigel as scaffold was developed. The features of 3 D culture were identified by immunochemical staining and transmission electron microscopy. Nucleic acid levels of HRV-C and HBoV in 3 D cells at designated time points were quantitated by real-time polymerase chain reaction(PCR). Levels of cytokines, whose secretion was induced by the viruses, were measured by ELISA. Results Properties of bronchial-like tissues, such as the expression of biomarkers CK5, ZO-1, and PCK, and the development of cilium-like protuberances indicative of the human respiration tract, were observed in 3 D-cultured human airway epithelial(HAE) cultures, but not in monolayer-cultured cells. Nucleic acid levels of HRV-C and HBoV and levels of virus-induced cytokines were also measured using the 3 D culture system. 6Altered Expression of Matrix Metalloproteinases and Tight Junction Proteins in Rats following PEMF-Induced BBB Permeability Change显示文摘Objective To investigate the expression of occludin,ZO‐1,MMP‐2,and MMP‐9 in cerebral microvasculature following Pulse Electromagnetic Field(PEMF) induced BBB permeability change.Methods Sprague‐Dawley rats were randomized into PEMF and sham exposed groups(n=8).After exposure to PEMF at 0.5,1,3,6,and 12 h,BBB permeability was measured by Evans‐Blue extravasation.The expression of occludin,ZO‐1,MMP‐2,and MMP‐9 were detected by real‐time quantitative reverse transcriptase PCR and western blotting.MMP‐2 and MMP‐9 activity were detected by EnzChek gelatinase assay.Results Compared with the sham group,PEMF exposure led to increased permeability of the BBB to EB,which was prolonged after exposure.BBB permeability became progressively more severe,and recovered at 6 h.The gene and protein expression of occludin and ZO‐1 were significantly decreased,while MMP‐2 and MMP‐9 expression were significantly increased after exposure to PEMF.All levels of expression recovered 12 h following PEMF.Conclusion Changes to BBB permeability were related to the alteration expression of tight junction proteins and matrix metalloproteinase after exposure to PEMF.ZHANG Ya Mei ZHOU Yan QIU Lian Bo DING Gui Rong PANG Xiao Feng 2012Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,2:5
7Detailed resume of RNA m^(6)A demethylases显示文摘N6-Methyladenosine(m^(6)A) is the most abundant internal modification in eukaryotic mRNA,playing critical role in various bioprocesses. Like other epigenetic modifications, m^(6)A modification can be catalyzed by the methyltransferase complex and erased dynamically to maintain cells homeostasis. Up to now, only two m^(6)A demethylases have been reported, fat mass and obesity-associated protein(FTO)and alkylation protein AlkB homolog 5(ALKBH5), involving in a wide range of mRNA biological progress, including mRNA shearing, export, metabolism and stability. Furthermore, they participate in many significantly biological signaling pathway, and contribute to the progress and development of cancer along with other diseases. 9Dynamic dispersion stability of graphene oxide with metal ions显示文摘Graphene oxide(GO),an important chemical precursor of graphene,can stably disperse in aqueous surrounding and undergo aggregation as metal cations introduced.The usual instability of GO with ions is caused by the shielding effect of ions and crosslinking between GO and ions.However,the dynamic stability of GO under ions exchange still remains unclear.Here,we investigated the dynamic dispersion stability of GO with metal ions and observed a redispersion behavior in concentrated Fe3+solution,other than permanent aggregation.The exchange with Fe3+ions drives the reversion of zeta(ζ)potential and enables the redispersion to individual GO-Fe3+complex sheets,following a dynamic electric double layer(EDL)mechanism.It is found that the specifically strong electrostatic shielding effect and coordination attraction between Fe3+and functional oxygen groups allows the selective redispersion of GO in concentrated Fe3+solution.The revealed dynamic dispersion stability complements our understanding on the dispersive stability of GO and can be utilized to fabricate graphene-metal hybrids for rich applications.Yinghui He Yingjun Liu Fan Guo Kai Pang Bo Fang Ya Wang Dan Chang Zhen Xu Chao Gao 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,6:2

11Precise Thermoplastic Processing of Graphene Oxide Layered Solid by Polymer Intercalation显示文摘The processing capability is vital for the wide applications of materials to forge structures as-demand.Graphene-based macroscopic materials have shown excellent mechanical and functional properties.However,different from usual polymers and metals,graphene solids exhibit limited deformability and processibility for precise forming.Here,we present a precise thermoplastic forming of graphene materials by polymer intercalation from graphene oxide(GO)precursor.The intercalated polymer enables the thermoplasticity of GO solids by thermally activated motion of polymer chains.We detect a critical minimum containing of intercalated polymer that can expand the interlayer spacing exceeding 1.4 nm to activate thermoplasticity,which becomes the criteria for thermal plastic forming of GO solids.By thermoplastic forming,the flat GO-composite films are forged to Gaussian curved shapes and imprinted to have surface relief patterns with size precision down to 360 nm.The plastic-formed structures maintain the structural integration with outstanding electrical(3.07×10^(5) S m^(−1))and thermal conductivity(745.65 W m^(−1) K^(−1))after removal of polymers.The thermoplastic strategy greatly extends the forming capability of GO materials and other layered materials and promises versatile structural designs for more broad applications.Zeshen Li Fan Guo Kai Pang Jiahao Lin Qiang Gao Yance Chen Dan Chang Ya Wang Senping Liu Yi Han Yingjun Liu Zhen Xu Chao Gao 2022Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,1:1

17HIV-1 Subtype Diversity and Factors Affecting Drug Resistance among Patients with Virologic Failure in Antiretroviral Therapy in Hainan Province,China,2014–2020显示文摘Objective This study aimed to determine the HIV-1 subtype distribution and HIV drug resistance(HIVDR)in patients with ART failure from 2014 to 2020 in Hainan,China.Methods A 7-year cross-sectional study was conducted among HIV/AIDS patients with ART failure in Hainan.We used online subtyping tools and the maximum likelihood phylogenetic tree to confirm the HIV subtypes with pol sequences.Drug resistance mutations(DRMs)were analyzed using the Stanford University HIV Drug Resistance Database.Results A total of 307 HIV-infected patients with ART failure were included,and 241 available pol sequences were obtained.Among 241 patients,CRF01_AE accounted for 68.88%,followed by CRF07_BC(17.00%)and eight other subtypes(14.12%).The overall prevalence of HIVDR was 61.41%,and the HIVDR against non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors(NNRTIs),nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors(NRTIs),and protease inhibitors(PIs)were 59.75%,45.64%,and 2.49%,respectively.Unemployed patients,hypoimmunity or opportunistic infections in individuals,and samples from 2017 to 2020 increased the odd ratios of HIVDR.Also,HIVDR was less likely to affect female patients.The common DRMs to NNRTIs were K103N(21.99%)and Y181C(20.33%),and M184V(28.21%)and K65R(19.09%)were the main DRMs against NRTIs.Conclusion The present study highlights the HIV-1 subtype diversity in Hainan and the importance of HIVDR surveillance over a long period.YU De E XU Yu Jun LI Mu YANG Yuan LIANG Hua Yue ZHONG Shan Mei QIN Cai LAN Ya Nan LI Da Wei YU Ji Peng PANG Yuan QIN Xue Qiu LIANG Hao ZHU Kao Kao YE Li LIANG Bing Yu 2023Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2023,36,9:0
