1Steady performance of a zero valent iron packed anaerobic reactor for azo dye wastewater treatment under variable influent quality显示文摘Zero valent iron(ZVI) is expected to help create an enhanced anaerobic environment that might improve the performance of anaerobic treatment.Based on this idea,a novel ZVI packed upflow anaerobic sludge blanket(ZVI-UASB) reactor was developed to treat azo dye wastewater with variable influent quality.The results showed that the reactor was less influenced by increases of Reactive Brilliant Red X-3B concentration from 50 to 1000 mg/L and chemical oxygen demand(COD) from 1000 to 7000 mg/L in the feed than a reference UASB reactor without the ZVI.The ZVI decreased oxidation-reduction potential in the reactor by about 80 mV.Iron ion dissolution from the ZVI could buffer acidity in the reactor,the amount of which was related to the COD concentration.Fluorescence in situ hybridization test showed the abundance of methanogens in the sludge of the ZVI-UASB reactor was significantly greater than that of the reference one.Denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis showed that the ZVI increased the diversity of microbial strains responsible for high efficiency.Yaobin Zhang Yiwen Liu Yanwen Jing Zhiqiang Zhao Xie Quan 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,4:9
2Enhanced heterogeneous Fenton-like activity by Cu-dopecl BiFeO3 perovskite for degradation of organic pollutants显示文摘Heterogeneous Fenton-like reaction has been extensively investigated to eliminate refractory organic contaminants in wastewater,but it usually shows low catalytic performance due to difficulty in reduction from Fe(Ⅲ)to Fe(Ⅱ).In this study,enhanced catalytic efficiency was obtained by employing Cu-doped BiFeO3 as heterogeneous Fenton-like catalysts,which exhibited higher catalytic perfor;nance toward the activation of H2O2 for phenol degradation than un-doped BiFeO3.. BiFe0.8Cu0.2O3 displayed the best performance,which yielded 91% removal of phenol (10mg L^-1) in 120min.The pseudo first-order kinetic rate constant of phenol degradation in BiFe0.8Cu0.2O3 catalyzed heterogeneous Fenton-like reaction was 5times higher than those of traditional heterogeneous Fenton-like catalysts,such as Fe3O4 and goethite.The phenol degradation efficiency could still reach 83% after 4 cycles,which implied the good stability of BiFe0.8Cu0.2O3.The high catalytic activity of BiFe0.8Cu0.2O3 was attributed to the fact that the doping Cu into BiFeO3 could promote the generation of Fe(Ⅱ)in the catalyst and then facilitate the activation of H2O2 to degrade the organic pollutants.Jie Mao Xie Quan Jing Wang Cong Gao Shuo Chen Hongtao Yu Yaobin Zhang 2018Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2018,12,6:2
3Enhanced nitrification in integrated floating fixed-film activated sludge (IFFAS) system using novel clinoptilolite composite carrier显示文摘The integrated floating fixed-film activated sludge (IFFAS) process is an ideal preference for nitrification attributing to the longer sludge age for nitrifiers. However, as the core of this process, conventional carriers made of polymer materials usually exhibit negative charge and hydrophobicity on the surface, which is unbeneficial to nitrifying biofilm formation. In this study, novel clinoptilolite composite carriers with favorable hydrophilicity, positive charge and nitrification-enhancing capability were made and implemented in IFFAS system. In comparison with conventional carriers, the novel clinoptilolite composite carriers displayed positive charges on the surface (11.7±1.1 mV, pH 7.0) with increased hydrophilicity (surface contact angle dropped to 76.7°). The novel-carriers-based reactors achieved significantly better NH4+-N removal efficiency at different influent concentrations, dissolved oxygen (DO) levels and shock loads (NH4+-N removal efficiency rose up to 20% comparing with the control reactors filled with polyethylene (PE) carriers or activated sludge). High-throughput sequencing (HTS) results indicated the novel clinoptilolite composite carriers provided favorable niche for more types of bacteria, especially for Nitrosomonadales and Nitrospirales (the functional nitrifiers in the system). The population of Nitrospirales increased by 4.51% by using novel clinoptilolite composite carriers comparing with using PE carriers, which ensured enhanced nitrification process. 7Single-nucleus transcriptomics reveals a gatekeeper role for FoxP1 in primate cardiac aging显示文摘Aging poses a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases,the leading cause of death in the aged population.However,the cell type-specific changes underlying cardiac aging are far from being clear.Here,we performed single-nucleus RNA-sequencing analysis of left ventricles from young and aged cynomolgus monkeys to define cell composition changes and transcriptomic alterations across different cell types associated with age.We found that aged cardiomyocytes underwent a dramatic loss in cell numbers and profound fluctuations in transcriptional profles.Via transcription regulatory network analysis,we identified FOxP1,a core transcription factor in organ development,as a key downregulated factor in aged cardiomyocytes,concomitant with the dysregulation of FoxP1 target genes associated with heart function and cardiac diseases.Consistently,the deficiency of FOxP1 led to hypertrophic and senescent phenotypes in human embryonic stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes.Altogether,our findings depict the celiular and molecular landscape of ventricular aging at the single-cell resolution,and identify drivers for primate cardiac aging and potential targets for intervention against cardiac aging and associated diseases.Yiyuan Zhang Yandong Zheng Si Wang Yanling Fan Yanxia Ye Yaobin Jing Zunpeng Liu Shanshan Yang Muzhao Xiong Kuan Yang Jinghao Hu Shanshan Che Qun Chu Moshi Song Guang-Hui Liu Weiqi Zhang Shuai Ma Jing Qu 2023Protein & Cell2023,14,4:0
