1Investigation of geothermal structure of the Sulawesi, using gravity and magnetic method显示文摘The Sulawesi Sea and Sulawesi Island are located in the western Pacific area where volcanic activity, plate subduction, and seismic activity are very active. The Sulawesi basin formed during the Middle Eocene-Late Eocene and nearly half of the Eocene oceanic crust has subducted below the North Sulawesi Trench. The Sulawesi Island was spliced and finalized in the Early Pliocene-Pleistocene during volcanic activity and is recently very active. This area is an optimal location to study volcanic geothermal conditions and subduction initiation mechanisms in the southern part of the western Pacific plate margin, which are important in geothermal and geodynamic research. In this study,we combined 133 heat flow data with gravity and magnetic data to calculate the Moho structure and Curie point depth of the Sulawesi Sea and periphery of the Sulawesi Island, and analyze the distribution characteristics of the geothermal gradient and thermal conductivity. The results show that the average depths of the Moho and Curie surfaces in this area are 18.4 and 14.3 km,respectively, which is consistent with the crustal velocity layer structure in the Sulawesi Basin previously determined by seismic refraction. The average geothermal gradient is 4.96°C(100 m)-1.The oceanic area shows a high geothermal gradient and low thermal conductivity, whereas the land area shows a low geothermal gradient and high thermal conductivity, both of which are consistent with statistical results of the geothermal gradient at the measured heat flow points. The highest geothermal gradient zone occurs in the transition zone from the Sulawesi Sea to Sulawesi Island, corresponding to the spreading ridge of the southward-moving Sulawesi Basin.Comprehensive gravity, magnetic, and geothermal studies have shown a high crustal geothermal gradient in the study area, which is conducive to the subduction initiation. The northern part of the Palu-koro fault on the western side of Sulawesi is likely the location where subduction initiation is occurring.During the process of moving northwest, the northern and eastern branches of Sulawesi Island have different speeds;the former is slow and the latter is fast. These branches also show different deep tectonic dynamic directions;the northern branch tilts north-up and the eastern branch tilts north-down.Jian ZHANG Tianyao HAO Miao DONG Ya XU Beiyu WANG Yifei AI Gui FANG 2021Science China Earth Sciences2021,64,2:1
2Anthrax lethal toxin and tumor necrosis factor-a synergize on intestinal epithelia to induce mouse death显示文摘Bacillus anthracis lethal toxin(LT)is a determinant of lethal anthrax. Its function in myeloid cells is required for bacterial dissemination, and LT itself can directly trigger dysfunction of the cardiovascular system. The interplay between LT and the host responses is important in the pathogenesis, but our knowledge on this interplay remains limited.Tumor necrosis factor-a(TNF-a)is a pleiotropic pro-inflammatory cytokine induced by bacterial infections.Since LT accumulates and cytokines, predominantly TNF,amass during B.anthracis infection,co-treatment of TNF+LT in mice was used to mimic in vivo conditions for LT to function in inflamed hosts.Bone marrow transplantation and genetically engineered mice showed unexpectedly that the death of intestinal epithelial cells(IECs)rather than that of hematopoietic cells led to LT+TNF-induced lethality.Inhibition of p38a mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)signaling by LT in IECs promoted TNF-induced apoptosis and necroptosis of IECs,leading to intestinal damage and mouse death.Consistently,p38a inhibition by LT enhanced TNF-mediated cell death in human colon epithelial HT-29 cells. As intestinal damage is one of the leading causes of lethality in anthrax patients, the IEC damage caused by LT+TNF would most likely be a mechanism underneath this clinical manifestation and could be a target for interventions.Xinhe Gao Teng Teng Yifei Liu Tingting Ai Rui Zhao Yilong Fu Peipei Zhang Jiahuai Han Yingying Zhang 2024Protein & Cell2024,15,2:0
3Near room-temperature ferromagnetism in air-stable twodimensional Cr_(1−x)Te grown by chemical vapor deposition显示文摘Identifying air-stable two-dimensional(2D)ferromagnetism with high Curie temperature(T_(c))is highly desirable for its potential applications in next-generation spintronics. However, most of the work reported so far mainly focuses on promoting one specific key factor of 2D ferromagnetism(T_(c)or air stability),rather than comprehensive promotion of both of them.Herein, ultrathin Cr_(1-x)Te crystals grown by chemical vapor deposition(CVD)show thickness-dependent T_(c)up to 285 K.The out-of-plane ferromagnetic order is well preserved down to atomically thin limit(2.0 nm),as evidenced by anomalous Hall effect observed in non-encapsulated samples.Besides, the CVD-grown Cr_(1-x)Te nanosheets present excellent ambient stability, with no apparent change in surface roughness or electrical transport properties after exposure to air for months. Our work provides an alternative platform for investigation of intrinsic 2D ferromagnetism and development of innovative spintronic devices.Zhansheng Gao Ming Tang Junwei Huang Jiabiao Chen Wei Ai Linglu Wu Xinyue Dong Yifei Ma Zheshan Zhang Lei Zhang Yaping Du Huixia Fu Hongtao Yuan Jinxiong Wu Feng Luo 2022Nano Research2022,15,4:0
