| 1 | Using big data to track marine oil transportation along the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road显示文摘China's designation of the '21 st-century Maritime Silk Road'(MSR) region is of extraordinary significance to its maritime rights, transportation security, and socio-economic development. We developed a technical framework allowing the use of 'big data' derived from the Automatic Identification System(AIS, an automatic ship-tracking network) for two purposes: the accurate mapping of oil tanker trajectories and the creation of heat maps showing the relative use of oil tanker routes and marine shipping chokepoints. We then applied these methods to 1.5 billion AIS records collected within the MSR in 2014 to statistically identify and analyze busy routes, areas, and chokepoints in this strategic region. | 3 | Investigation of carbonyl amidation and O-methylation during biosynthesis of the pharmacophore pyridyl of antitumor piericidins显示文摘Piericidins are a large family of bacterialα-pyridone antibiotics with antitumor activities such as their anti-renal carcinoma activity exhibited recently in nude mice.The backbones of piericidins are derived fromβ,δ-diketo carboxylic acids,which are offloaded from a modular polyketide synthase(PKS)and putatively undergo a carbonyl amidation beforeα-pyridone ring formation.The tailoring modifications to theα-pyridone structure mainly include the verified hydroxylation and O-methylation of the C-4′position and an unidentified C-5′O-methylation.Here,we describe a piericidin producer,terrestrial Streptomyces conglobatus,which contains a piericidin biosynthetic gene cluster in two different loci.Deletion of the amidotransferase gene pieD resulted in the accumulation of two fatty acids that should be degraded from the nascent carboxylic acid released by the PKS,supporting the carbonyl amidation function of PieD duringα-pyridone ring formation.Deletion of the O-methyltransferase gene pieB1 led to the production of three piericidin analogues lacking C-5′O-methylation,therefore confirming that PieB1 specifically catalyses the tailoring modification.Moreover,bioactivity analysis of the mutant-derived products provided clues regarding the structure-function relationship for antitumor activity.The work addresses two previously unidentified steps involved in pyridyl pharmacophore formation during piericidin biosynthesis,facilitating the rational bioengineering of the biosynthetic pathway towards valuable antitumor agents. | Wanlu Li Wenyu Zhang Yijia Cheng Yaoyao Shen Jianzhao Qi Hou-Wen Lin Yongjun Zhou | 2022 | Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology2022,7,3: | 2 |

| 5 | Ice-volume and insolation influences on hydroclimate changes in central eastern China during the antepenultimate glacial period显示文摘The rainfall changes in East Asian summer monsoon(EASM)regions on the orbital timescale remain controversial due to the lack of reliable rainfall records.Here,we present new multiproxy records(δ^(18)O,δ^(13)C,Sr/Ca and Mg/Ca)of a230Thdated stalagmite from Hulu Cave in central eastern China.Multiproxy records reconstruct a regional hydroclimate history from 340 to 261 kyr BP(thousand years before present),approximately covering the antepenultimate glacial period.Theδ^(18)O record is dominated by the precessional cycles,suggesting that EASM responds to changes in Northern Hemisphere summer insolation(NHSI)on the orbital timescale.Significant correlations amongst theδ^(13)C,Sr/Ca and Mg/Ca suggest that a common factor,i.e.,the local hydrological cycle,controlled their variability,and their leading principal component can be used as a proxy linked to regional rainfall.This composite record bears a good similarity to those from the Chinese Loess Plateau,showing a gradually decreasing rainfall during the antepenultimate glacial period,consistent with changes in global ice volume.Superimposed on the long-term trend,three relative wetter intervals were responding to the higher NHSI periods,suggesting that EASM rainfall variability was induced by integrated effects of global ice volume and NHSI.The increased ice sheets and lower NHSI resulted in an increased meridional temperature gradient and southward shift of the westerlies,which shortened the duration of Meiyu and midsummer rainfall.The differences between the rainfall record and the stalagmiteδ^(18)O record indicate that the latter represents the overall EASM intensity linked to monsoon circulation,but does not directly reflect the rainfall changes at the cave sites. | Quan WANG Shayue YUAN Yijia LIANG Kan ZHAO Qingfeng SHAO Zhenqiu ZHANG Junji ZHU Xinggong KONG Yongjin WANG Jianghu LAN Hai CHENG Chengwei XIA Yi LI | 2023 | Science China Earth Sciences2023,66,1: | 0 |

| 7 | A bi-functional strategy involving surface coating and subsurface gradient co-doping for enhanced cycle stability of LiCoO_(2) at 4.6 V显示文摘Layered LiCoO_(2)(LCO)acts as a dominant cathode material for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)in 3C products because of its high compacted density and volumetric energy density.Although improving the high cutoff voltage is an effective strategy to increase its capacity,such behavior would trigger rapid capacity decay due to the surface or/and structure degradation.Herein,we propose a bi-functional surface strategy involving constructing a robust spinel-like phase coating layer with great integrity and compatibility to LiCoO_(2) and modulating crystal lattice by anion and cation gradient co-doping at the subsurface.As a result,the modified LiCoO_(2)(AFM-LCO)shows a capacity retention of 80.9%after 500 cycles between 3.0and 4.6 V.The Al,F,Mg enriched spinel-like phase coating layer serves as a robust physical barrier to effectively inhibit the undesired side reactions between the electrolyte and the cathode.Meanwhile,the Al,F,Mg gradient co-doping significantly enhances the surficial structure stability,suppresses Co dissolution and oxygen release,providing a stable path for Li-ions mobility all through the long-term cycles.Thus,the surface bi-functional strategy is an effective method to synergistically improve the electrochemical performances of LCO at a high cut-off voltage of 4.6 V. | Yun He Xiaoliang Ding Tao Cheng Hongyu Cheng Meng Liu Zhijie Feng Yijia Huang Menghan Ge Yingchun Lyu Bingkun Guo | 2023 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,2: | 0 |
