The genomes of medicinal skullcaps reveal the polyphyletic origins of clerodane diterpene biosynthesis in the family Lamiaceae显示文摘The presence of anticancer clerodane diterpenoids is a chemotaxonomic marker for the traditional Chinese medicinal plant Scutellaria barbata, although the molecular mechanisms behind clerodane biosynthesis are unknown. Here,we report a high-quality assembly of the 414.98 Mb genome of S.barbata into 13 pseudochromosomes.Using phylogenomic and biochemical data,we mapped the plastidial metabolism of kaurene(gibberellins),abietane, and clerodane diterpenes in three species of the family Lamiaceae(Scutellaria barbata,Scutellaria baicalensis, and Salvia splendens),facilitating the identification of genes involved in the biosynthesis of the clerodanes, kolavenol, and isokolavenol. We show that clerodane biosynthesis evolved through recruitment and neofunctionalization of genes from gibberellin and abietane metabolism.Despite the assumed monophyletic origin of clerodane biosynthesis, which is widespread in species of the Lamiaceae, our data show distinct evolutionary lineages and suggest polyphyletic origins of clerodane biosynthesis in the family Lamiaceae. Our study not only provides significant insights into the evolution of clerodane biosynthetic pathways in the mint family,Lamiaceae, but also will facilitate the production of anticancer clerodanes through future metabolic engineering efforts.Haixiu Li Song Wu Ruoxi Lin Yiren Xiao Ana Luisa Malaco Morotti Ya Wang Meytal Galilee Haowen Qin Tao Huang Yong Zhao Xun Zhou Jun Yang Qing Zhao Angelos K.Kanellis Cathie Martin Evangelos C.Tatsis 2023Molecular Plant2023,16,3:2
In-flight calibration of the magnetometer on the Mars orbiter of Tianwen-1显示文摘Mars orbiter magnetometer(MOMAG)is one of seven science payloads onboard Tianwen-1’s orbiter.Unlike most of the satellites,Tianwen-1’s orbiter is not magnetically cleaned, and the boom where placed the magnetometer’s sensors is not long enough. These pose many challenges to the magnetic field data processing. In this study,we introduce the in-flight calibration process of the Tianwen-1/MOMAG.The magnetic interference including spacecraft generated dynamic field and the slowlychanging zero offsets are cleaned in sequence. Then the calibrated magnetic field data are compared with the data from the Mars atmosphere and volatile Evolutio N(MAVEN).We find that some physical structures in the solar wind are consistent between the two data sets, and the distributions of the magnetic field strength in the solar wind are very similar. These results suggest that the in-flight calibration of the MOMAG is successful and the MOMAG provides reliable data for scientific research.ZOU ZhuXuan WANG YuMing ZHANG TieLong WANG GuoQiang XIAO SuDong PAN ZongHao ZHANG ZhouBin YAN Wei DU Yang CHI YuTian CHENG Long WU ZhiYong HAO XinJun LI YiRen LIU Kai CHEN ManMing SU ZhenPeng SHEN ChengLong XU MengJiao GUO JingNan 2023Science China(Technological Sciences)2023,66,8:0
The Mars orbiter magnetometer of Tianwen-1:in-flight performance and first science results显示文摘The Mars Orbiter MAGnetometer(MOMAG)is a scientific instrument onboard the orbiter of China’s first mission for Mars—Tianwen-1.Since November 13,2021,it has been recording magnetic field data from the solar wind to the magnetic pile-up region surrounding Mars. Here we present its in-flight performance and first science results, based on its first one and one-half months’data.Comparing these early MOMAG observations to the magnetic field data in the solar wind from NASA’s Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN(MAVEN)mission,we report that the MOMAG magnetic field data are at the same level in magnitude, and describe the same magnetic structures with similar variations in three components. We recognize 158 clear bow shock(BS)crossings in these MOMAG data;their locations match well statistically with the modeled average BS.We also identify and compare five pairs of datasets collected when Tianwen-1’s orbiter and the MAVEN probe made simultaneous BS crossings. These BS crossings confirm the global shape of modeled BS,as well as the south-north asymmetry of the Martian BS.Two cases presented in this paper suggest that the BS is probably more dynamic at flank than near the nose.So far,MOMAG performs well, and provides accurate magnetic field vectors.MOMAG is continuously scanning the magnetic field surrounding Mars.Data from MOMAG’s measurements complement data from MAVEN and will undoubt edly advance our understanding of the plasma environment of Mars.YuMing Wang TieLong Zhang GuoQiang Wang SuDong Xiao ZhuXuan Zou Long Cheng ZongHao Pan Kai Liu XinJun Hao YiRen Li ManMing Chen ZhouBin Zhang Wei Yan ZhenPeng Su ZhiYong Wu ChengLong Shen YuTian Chi MengJiao Xu JingNan Guo Yang Du 2023Earth and Planetary Physics2023,7,2:0
An updated constraint on the local stratigraphy at the Chang'E-4 landing site显示文摘The Chang’E-4 mission has been exploring the lunar farside. Two scientific targets of the rover onboard are(1)resolving the possible mineralogy related to the South Pole-Aitken basin and(2)understanding the subsurface processes at the lunar farside.Publications to date that are based on the reflectance spectra and radar data obtained by the rover have shown a persistent inconsistency about the local stratigraphy. To explain both the abnormal surface topography at the landing site and the unexpected radargram observed by the rover, the Alder crater has been frequently reported to be older than the mare basalts at that landing site. However, this argument is not supported by earlier geological mapping nor recent crater statistics.Resolving this controversy is critical for a full understanding of the geological history of the landing area and for correct interpretations of the scientific data returned.Employing detailed crater statistics, rigorous statistical analyses, and an updated crater chronology function, this study is determined to resolve the relative ages of the Alder crater,Finsen crater, and the mare basalts on the floor of Von Kármán.Our results reveal that while background secondaries and local resurfacing have widely occurred in the study area, affecting age determinations, the statistics are significant enough to conclude that the Alder crater is the oldest among the three targets. This independent constraint is consistent with both the crosscutting relationships of different terrains in this area and global stratigraphic mapping. Our results exclude Alder as a possible contributor of the post-mare deposits at the landing site, appealing for a more systematic stratigraphy study to resolve the provenances of these deposits.YiRen Chang ZhiYong Xiao YiChen Wang ChunYu Ding Jun Cui YuZhen Cai 2021Earth and Planetary Physics2021,5,1:0
Using mouse models to study function of transcriptional factors in T cell development显示文摘Laboratory mice have widely been used as tools for basic biological research and models for studying human diseases. With the advances of genetic engineering and conditional knockout(CKO)mice,we now understand hematopoiesis is a dynamic stepwise process starting from hematopoietic stem cells(HSCs)which are responsible for replenishing all blood cells.Transcriptional factors play important role in hematopoiesis. In this review we compile several studies on using genetic modified mice and humanized mice to study function of transcriptional factors in lymphopoiesis, including T lymphocyte and Natural killer(NK)cell development. Finally,we focused on the key transcriptional factor Bcl11b and its function in regulating T cell specification and commitment.Peng Li Yiren Xiao Zhixin Liu Pentao Liu 2012Cell Regeneration2012,1,1:0
