1Safety impacts of red light running photo enforcement at urban signalized intersections显示文摘Red light running at signalized intersections is a major safety concern in the United States.Statistics showthat approximately 45 percent of crashes at intersections caused by red light running result in severe injuries and fatalities,while only approximately 30 percent of all other types of intersection crashes cause injuries or fatalities. Over the past decade,many US cities and counties have deployed red light running photo enforcement systems for signalized intersections within their jurisdictions to potentially reduce red light running related crashes. This study proposes an empirical Bayesian( EB)before-after analysis method that computes a weighed sumof crashes observed in the field and crashes predicted by safety performance functions( SPFs) to mitigate regression-to-mean biases for analyzing crash reduction effects of red light running enforcement. The analysis explicitly considers red light running related crash types,including head-on,rear-end,angle,turning,sideswipe in the same direction,and sideswipe in the opposite direction; and crash severity levels classified as fatal,injury,and property damage only( PDO). A computational study is conducted to examine the effectiveness of the Chicago programwith red light running photo enforcement systems deployed for nearly two hundred signalized intersections. It is revealed that the use of red light running photo enforcement on the whole is positive,as demonstrated by reductions in all types of fatal crashes by 4-48 percent,and injury-related angle crashes by 1 percent. However,it slightly raises PDO-related angle crashes and moderately increases injury and PDO related rear-end crashes. 2Fucoidan-Based Theranostic Nanogel for Enhancing Imaging and Photodynamic Therapy of Cancer显示文摘In this study, a fucoidan-based theranostic nanogel(CFN-gel) consisting of a fucoidan backbone, redox-responsive cleavable linker and photosensitizer is developed to achieve acti-vatable near-infrared fluorescence imaging of tumor sites and an enhanced photodynamic therapy(PDT) to induce the com-plete death of cancer cells. A CFN-gel has nanomolar a nity for P-selectin, which is overexpressed on the surface of tumor neovascular endothelial cells as well as many other cancer cells. Therefore, a CFN-gel can enhance tumor accumulation through P-selectin targeting and the enhanced permeation and retention e ect. Moreover, a CFN-gel is non-fluorescent and non-phototoxic upon its systemic administration due to the aggregation-induced self-quenching in its fluorescence and singlet oxygen generation. After internalization into cancer cells and tumor neovascular endothelial cells, its photoactivity is recovered in response to the intracellular redox potential, thereby enabling selective near-infrared fluorescence imaging and an enhanced PDT of tumors. Since a CFN-gel also shows nanomolar a nity for the vascular endothelial growth factor, it also provides a significant anti-tumor e ect in the absence of light treatment in vivo. 5Statistical modeling of total crash frequency at highway intersections显示文摘Intersection-related crashes are associated with high proportion of accidents involving drivers,occupants,pedestrians,and cyclists.In general,the purpose of intersection safety analysis is to determine the impact of safety-related variables on pedestrians,cyclists and vehicles,so as to facilitate the design of effective and efficient countermeasure strategies to improve safety at intersections.This study investigates the effects of traffic,environmental,intersection geometric and pavement-related characteristics on total crash frequencies at intersections.A random-parameter Poisson model was used with crash data from 357 signalized intersections in Chicago from 2004 to 2010.The results indicate that out of the identified factors,evening peak period traffic volume,pavement condition,and unlighted intersections have the greatest effects on crash frequencies.Overall,the results seek to suggest that,in order to improve effective highway-related safety countermeasures at intersections,significant attention must be focused on ensuring that pavements are adequately maintained and intersections should be well lighted.It needs to be mentioned that,projects could be implemented at and around the study intersections during the study period(7 years),which could affect the crash frequency over the time.This is an important variable which could be a part of the future studies to investigate the impacts of safetyrelated works at intersections and their marginal effects on crash frequency at signalized intersections.Arash M.Roshandeh Bismark R.D.K.Agbelie Yongdoo Lee 2016Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering(English Edition)2016,3,2:1
6Three-dimensional kagome structures in a PCL/HA-based hydrogel scaffold to lead slow BMP-2 release for effective bone regeneration显示文摘Osteoconductive function is remarkably low in bone disease in the absence of bone tissue surrounding the grafting site,or if the bone tissue is in poor condition.Thus,an effective bone graft in terms of both osteoconductivity and osteoinductivity is required for clinical therapy.Recently,the three-dimensional(3D)kagome structure has been shown to be advantageous for bone tissue regeneration due to its mechanical properties.In this study,a polycaprolactone(PCL)kagome-structure scaffold containing a hyaluronic acid(HA)-based hydrogel was fabricated using a 3D printing technique.The retention capacity of the hydrogel in the scaffold was assessed in vivo with a rat calvaria subcutaneous model for 3 weeks,and the results were compared with those obtained with conventional 3D-printed PCL grid-structure scaffolds containing HA-based hydrogel and bulk-type HA-based hydrogel.The retained hydrogel in the kagome-structure scaffold was further evaluated by in vivo imaging system analysis.To further reinforce the osteoinductivity of the kagome-structure scaffold,a PCL kagome-structure scaffold with bone morphogenetic protein-2(BMP-2)containing HA hydrogel was fabricated and implanted in a calvarial defect model of rabbits for 16 weeks.The bone regeneration characteristics were evaluated with hematoxylin and eosin(H&E),Masson’s trichrome staining,and micro-CT image analysis.Se-Hwan Lee Kang-Gon Lee Jaeyeon Lee Yong Sang Cho Min-Soo Ghim Soojin Kim Su-Jin Heo Yongdoo Park Young-Sam Cho Bu-Kyu Lee 2023Bio-Design and Manufacturing2023,6,1:1
