| 6 | Deep Facial Emotion Recognition Using Local Features Based on Facial Landmarks for Security System显示文摘Emotion recognition based on facial expressions is one of the most critical elements of human-machine interfaces.Most conventional methods for emotion recognition using facial expressions use the entire facial image to extract features and then recognize specific emotions through a pre-trained model.In contrast,this paper proposes a novel feature vector extraction method using the Euclidean distance between the landmarks changing their positions according to facial expressions,especially around the eyes,eyebrows,nose,andmouth.Then,we apply a newclassifier using an ensemble network to increase emotion recognition accuracy.The emotion recognition performance was compared with the conventional algorithms using public databases.The results indicated that the proposed method achieved higher accuracy than the traditional based on facial expressions for emotion recognition.In particular,our experiments with the FER2013 database show that our proposed method is robust to lighting conditions and backgrounds,with an average of 25% higher performance than previous studies.Consequently,the proposed method is expected to recognize facial expressions,especially fear and anger,to help prevent severe accidents by detecting security-related or dangerous actions in advance. | Youngeun An Jimin Lee Eunsang Bak Sungbum Pan | 2023 | Computers, Materials & Continua2023,76,8: | 0 |
| 7 | Large colonic lipoma with a laterally spreading tumor treated by endoscopic submucosal dissection:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Since fat does not transmit electrical energy well,delayed perforation and postpolypectomy syndrome due to electrical thermal injury are concerns in the endoscopic removal of colonic lipoma.The endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD)technique concentrates electrical energy conducts to the submucosa,not the adipose tissue.This helps to minimize electrical thermal injury,especially in the case of large colonic lipomas.In rare cases,such as colonic lipomas accompanied by mucosal lesions,it is difficult for endoscopists to decide how to safely remove them.CASE SUMMARY A 78-year-old man underwent colonoscopy for colorectal cancer screening.During colonoscopy,a yellowish submucosal tumor with positive cushion sign was observed in the ascending colon measuring about 4.5 cm.A nodular mucosal lesion of about 2.5 cm was observed on the mucosal surface of the lipoma.The lipoma was so large that it occupied much of the inside of the colon,making it difficult to see the entire laterally spreading tumor(LST)at once.The LST was confined to the surface of the lipoma,which had a semipedunculated shape with a wide neck.The margin of the LST was not observed at the neck of the lipoma.ESD was performed and the colonic lipoma with the LST was successfully removed without complications.After 3 d of hospitalization,the patient was discharged without any symptoms.The final pathology report showed that the lesion consisted of submucosal lipoma and tubulovillous adenoma with lowgrade dysplasia.CONCLUSION ESD is effective and safe for treating a large colonic lipoma with an LST by minimizing electrical thermal injury. | Jun Yong Bae Hun Kyu Kim Yee Jin Kim Se Woong Kim Youngeun Lee Chang Beom Ryu Moon Sung Lee | 2023 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2023,11,26: | 0 |

| 9 | Glucocorticoid pulse therapy in an elderly patient with post-COVID-19 organizing pneumonia:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Pulmonary fibrosis often occurs as a sequel of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19);however,in some cases,it can rapidly progress,similar to the acute exacerbation of interstitial lung disease.Glucocorticoids are the standard treatment for severe COVID-19 pneumonia requiring oxygen supply;however,the post-COVID-19 efficacy of high-dose steroid therapy remains unclear.Here,we presented a case of an 81-year-old man who developed acute respiratory failure after COVID-19 and was treated with glucocorticoid pulse therapy.CASE SUMMARY An 81-year-old man with no respiratory symptoms was admitted due to a diabetic foot.He had been previously treated for COVID-19 pneumonia six weeks prior.However,upon admission,he suddenly complained of dyspnea and required a high-flow oxygen supply.Initial simple chest radiography and computed tomography(CT)revealed diffuse ground-glass opacities and consolidation in both lungs.However,repeated sputum tests did not identify any infectious pathogens,and initial broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy did not result in any clinical improvement with the patient having an increasing oxygen demand.The patient was diagnosed with post-COVID-19 organizing pneumonia.Thus,we initiated glucocorticoid pulse therapy of 500 mg for three days followed by a tapered dose on hospital day(HD)9.After three days of pulse treatment,the patient's oxygen demand decreased.The patient was subsequently discharged on HD 41,and chest radiography and CT scans have almost normalized nine months after discharge.CONCLUSION Glucocorticoid pulse therapy may be considered when the usual glucocorticoid dose is ineffective for patients with COVID-19 sequelae. | Shinhee Park Youngeun Jang So-My Koo Bo Da Nam Hee-Young Yoon | 2023 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2023,11,17: | 0 |
