1Quality control of marine big data——a case study of real-time observation station data in Qingdao显示文摘Offshore waters provide resources for human beings,while on the other hand,threaten them because of marine disasters.Ocean stations are part of offshore observation networks,and the quality of their data is of great significance for exploiting and protecting the ocean.We used hourly mean wave height,temperature,and pressure real-time observation data taken in the Xiaomaidao station(in Qingdao,China)from June 1,2017,to May 31,2018,to explore the data quality using eight quality control methods,and to discriminate the most effective method for Xiaomaidao station.After using the eight quality control methods,the percentages of the mean wave height,temperature,and pressure data that passed the tests were 89.6%,88.3%,and 98.6%,respectively.With the marine disaster(wave alarm report)data,the values failed in the test mainly due to the influence of aging observation equipment and missing data transmissions.The mean wave height is often affected by dynamic marine disasters,so the continuity test method is not effective.The correlation test with other related parameters would be more useful for the mean wave height.QIAN Chengcheng LIU Aichao HUANG Rui LIU Qingrong XU Wenkun ZHONG Shan YU Le 2019Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2019,37,6:6

3Au atoms doped in Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)MXene:Benefiting recovery of oxygen vacancies towards photocatalytic aerobic oxidation显示文摘Photocatalytic aerobic oxidation by using oxygen molecules(O_(2))as green and low-cost oxidants is of great attraction,where the introduction of irradiation has been proved as an efficient strategy to lower reaction temperature as well as promote catalytic performance.Moreover,the oxygen vacancies(OVs)of catalyst are highly active sites to adsorb and activate O_(2)during photocatalytic aerobic oxidation.However,OVs are easily blocked by oxygen atoms from active oxygen species during the catalytic process,leading to the deactivation of catalysis.Herein,a promising catalyst toward photocatalytic aerobic oxidation was successfully developed by recovering the OVs through doping Au atoms into Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)MXene(Au/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)).Impressively,Au/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)exhibited remarkable activity under full-spectrum irradiation towards photooxidation of methyl phenyl sulfide(MPS)and methylene blue(MB),attaining a conversion of>90%at room temperature.Moreover,Au/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)also manifested remarkable stability by maintaining>95%initial activity after 10 successive reaction rounds.Further mechanistic studies indicated that the OVs of Au/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)served as the active centers to efficiently adsorb and activate O_(2).More importantly,the doped Au atoms of Au/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)were conducive to the recovery of OVs during photocatalytic process from the results of theoretical and experimental aspects.The recovered OVs of Au/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)continuously and efficiently activated O_(2),directly contributing to the remarkable catalytic activity and stability.Kaifu Yu Sanmei Wang Qi Li Tingting Hou Yue Xin Rong He Wenhua Zhang Shuquan Liang Liangbing Wang Wenkun Zhu 2022Nano Research2022,15,4:1
4Microengineered platforms for characterizing the contractile function of in vitro cardiac models显示文摘Emerging heart-on-a-chip platforms are promising approaches to establish cardiac cell/tissue models in vitro for research on cardiac physiology,disease modeling and drug cardiotoxicity as well as for therapeutic discovery.Challenges still exist in obtaining the complete capability of in situ sensing to fully evaluate the complex functional properties of cardiac cell/tissue models.Changes to contractile strength(contractility)and beating regularity(rhythm)are particularly important to generate accurate,predictive models.Developing new platforms and technologies to assess the contractile functions of in vitro cardiac models is essential to provide information on cell/tissue physiologies,drug-induced inotropic responses,and the mechanisms of cardiac diseases.In this review,we discuss recent advances in biosensing platforms for the measurement of contractile functions of in vitro cardiac models,including single cardiomyocytes,2D monolayers of cardiomyocytes,and 3D cardiac tissues.The characteristics and performance of current platforms are reviewed in terms of sensing principles,measured parameters,performance,cell sources,cell/tissue model configurations,advantages,and limitations.In addition,we highlight applications of these platforms and relevant discoveries in fundamental investigations,drug testing,and disease modeling.Furthermore,challenges and future outlooks of heart-on-a-chip platforms for in vitro measurement of cardiac functional properties are discussed.Wenkun Dou Manpreet Malhi Qili Zhao Li Wang Zongjie Huang Junhui Law Na Liu Craig A.Simmons Jason T.Maynes Yu Sun 2022Microsystems & Nanoengineering2022,8,1:0
5Development of A Neonatal Mouse Model for Coxsackievirus B1 Antiviral Evaluation显示文摘Coxsackievirus B1(CVB1) is a leading causative agent of severe infectious diseases in humans and has been reported to be associated with outbreaks of aseptic meningitis, myocarditis, and the development of chronic diseases such as type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM). There is no approved vaccine or effective antiviral therapy to treat CBV1 infection. And animal models to assess the effects of antiviral agents and vaccine remain limited. In this study, we established a neonatal mouse model of CVB1 using a clinically isolated strain to characterize the pathological manifestations of virus infection and to promote the development of vaccines and antiviral drugs against CVB1. One-day-old BALB/c mice were susceptible to CVB1 infection by intraperitoneal injection. Mice challenged with CVB1 at a low dose [10 median tissue culture infective dose(TCID_(50))] exhibited a series of clinical symptoms, such as inactivity, emaciation, limb weakness, hair thinning,hunching and even death. Pathological examination and tissue viral load analysis showed that positive signals of CVB1 were detected in the heart, spinal cord, limb muscle and kidney without pathological damage. Particularly, CVB1 had a strong tropism towards the pancreas, causing severe cellular necrosis with inflammatory infiltration, and was spread by viraemia. Notably, the monoclonal antibody(mAb) 6H5 and antisera elicited from CVB1-vaccinated mice effectively protected the mice from CVB1 infection in the mouse model. 6Characteristics of Paleontological Communities in Surface Sediments of the Southern South China Sea and Their Paleoclimatic and Paleoenvironmental Significance显示文摘Understanding the spatial and temporal distribution of different paleontological communities in the southern South China Sea(SCS)is fundamental to explore its paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental changes.In this study,foraminifera,pollen and diatoms from 100 surface sediment samples covering 40000 km^(2) of sea floor in the southern SCS were comprehensively investigated in terms of their assemblage and distribution.The results showed the existence of abundant foraminifera and pollen in most of the samples,although diatom communities were relatively scarce.Foraminifera were dominated by G.sacculifer,G.menardii,G.ruber,while diatoms were characterized by T.simonsenii,T.nitzschioides and T.longissima,indicating a typical tropical marine environment.The pollen assemblages showed a better reflection of montane rainforest,tropical rainforest and mangrove.The spatial differences among foraminifera assemblages may indicate the effect of water depth and a warmer environment in the southeast part of the study area,while the spatial patterns of diatom and pollen assemblages imply the influence of coastal current.Our study also noted that the compositions of paleontological communities in the SCS can vary significantly in a short distance,and synthesized studies on multiple biological groups are needed to reconstruct the Quaternary climate and the oceanographic environment.Jing Zhao Li Zhang Xiaoyan Wang Jinglian Ge Min Xu Wei Chen Mao Luo Qianyong Liang Qiuhua Yu Shuaibing Luo Wenkun Qie 2024Journal of Earth Science2024,35,1:0
7Stiffness and ATP recovery of stored red blood cells in serum显示文摘In transfusion medicine,there has been a decades-long debate about whether the age of stored red blood cells(RBCs)is a factor in transfusion efficacy.Existing clinical studies investigating whether older RBCs cause worse clinical outcomes have provided conflicting information:some have shown that older blood is less effective,while others have shown no such difference.The controversial results could have been biased by the vastly different conditions of the patients involved in the clinical studies;however,another source of inconsistency is a lack of understanding of how well and quickly stored RBCs can recover their key parameters,such as stiffness and ATP concentration,after transfusion.In this work,we quantitatively studied the stiffness and ATP recovery of stored RBCs in 37℃ human serum.The results showed that in 37℃ human serum,stored RBCs are able to recover their stiffness and ATP concentration to varying extents depending on how long they have been stored.Fresher RBCs(1–3 weeks old)were found to have a significantly higher capacity for stiffness and ATP recovery in human serum than older RBCs(4–6 weeks old).For instance,for 1-week-old RBCs,although the shear modulus before recovery was 1.6 times that of fresh RBCs,97%of the cells recovered in human serum to have 1.1 times the shear modulus of fresh RBCs,and the ATP concentration of 1-week-old RBCs after recovery showed no difference from that of fresh RBCs.However,for 6-week-old RBCs,only~70%of the RBCs showed stiffness recovery in human serum;their shear modulus after recovery was still 2.1 times that of fresh RBCs;and their ATP concentration after recovery was 25%lower than that of fresh RBCs.Our experiments also revealed that the processes of stiffness recovery and ATP recovery took place on the scale of tens of minutes.We hope that this study will trigger the next steps of comprehensively characterizing the recovery behaviors of stored RBCs(e.g.,recovery of normal 2,3-DPG[2,3-Diphosphoglycerate]and SNO[S-nitrosation]levels)and quantifying the in vivo recovery of stored RBCs in transfusion medicine.Zhensong Xu Wenkun Dou Chen Wang Yu Sun 2019Microsystems & Nanoengineering2019,5,1:0
