1Surface modification of small intestine submucosa in tissue engineering显示文摘With the development of tissue engineering,the required biomaterials need to have the ability to promote cell adhesion and proliferation in vitro and in vivo.Especially,surface modification of the scaffold material has a great influence on biocompatibility and functionality of materials.The small intestine submucosa(SIS)is an extracellular matrix isolated from the submucosal layer of porcine jejunum,which has good tissue mechanical properties and regenerative activity,and is suitable for cell adhesion,proliferation and differentiation.In recent years,SIS is widely used in different areas of tissue reconstruction,such as blood vessels,bone,cartilage,bladder and ureter,etc.This paper discusses the main methods for surface modification of SIS to improve and optimize the performance of SIS bioscaffolds,including functional group bonding,protein adsorption,mineral coating,topography and formatting modification and drug combination.In addition,the reasonable combination of these methods also offers great improvement on SIS surface modification.This article makes a shallow review of the surface modification of SIS and its application in tissue engineering.Pan Zhao Xiang Li Qin Fang Fanglin Wang Qiang Ao Xiaohong Wang Xiaohong Tian Hao Tong Shuling Bai Jun Fan 2020Regenerative Biomaterials2020,7,4:9

4Particulate flow modelling in a spiral separator by using the Eulerian multi-fluid VOF approach显示文摘The Euler-Euler model is less effective in capturing the free surface of flow film in the spiral separator,and thus a Eulerian multi-fluid volume of fluid(VOF)model was first proposed to describe the particulate flow in spiral separators.In order to improve the applicability of the model in the high solid concentration system,the Bagnold effect was incorporated into the modelling framework.The capability of the proposed model in terms of predicting the flow film shape in a LD9 spiral separator was evaluated via comparison with measured flow film thicknesses reported in literature.Results showed that sharp air–water and air-pulp interfaces can be obtained using the proposed model,and the shapes of the predicted flow films before and after particle addition were reasonably consistent with the observations reported in literature.Furthermore,the experimental and numerical simulation of the separation of quartz and hematite were performed in a laboratory-scale spiral separator.When the Bagnold lift force model was considered,predictions of the grade of iron and solid concentration by mass for different trough lengths were more consistent with experimental data.In the initial development stage,the quartz particles at the bottom of the flow layer were more possible to be lifted due to the Bagnold force.Thus,a better predicted vertical stratification between quartz and hematite particles was obtained,which provided favorable conditions for subsequent radial segregation.Lingguo Meng Shuling Gao Dezhou Wei Qiang Zhao Baoyu Cui Yanbai Shen Zhenguo Song 2023International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2023,33,2:2

6Classification of facial nerve aberration in congenital malformation of middle ear:Implications for surgery of hearing restoration显示文摘Objectives: Facial nerve aberration is the most troublesome situation in congenital malformations of middle ear.The aim of our study is to investigate its imaging and clinical features as well as relevant choice of surgical techniques for hearing improvement.Methods: A retrospective study involving review of clinical data of 227 patients(256 ears) with congenital middle ear anomaly was undertaken, including preoperative computed tomography(CT) data, surgical records and videos.Results: Aberration involving intratemporal facial nerve was found in 82/256 ears(32.03%) with congenital middle ear anomaly. The most common forms of aberration included overhanging over the oval window(50/82 ears, 60.98%), bifurcation(3/82 ears, 3.66%) and transverse over the promontory(3/82 ears, 3.66%), counting for 68.29%(56/82) of the cases with facial nerve aberration. Concomitant stapes malformation was found in 76/82 ears(92.68%) and atresia or stenosis of the oval window in 27/82 ears(32.93%). In 9/82 ears(10.98%) both stapes and oval window was absent. Elective surgeries for the purpose of hearing improvement included stapodotomy + piston implantation, labyrinthotomy, labyrinthotomy + total ossicular replacement prosthesis(TORP) implantation and Vibrant Soundbridge(VSB) implantation.Conclusion: The majority of facial nerve aberration in congenital malformation of middle ear involves displacement of facial nerve, in addition to concomitant malformations of the stapes and/or oval window, which may influence the choice of surgery for hearing improvement. 11A quality by design (QbD) case study on entericcoated pellets: Screening of critical variables and establishment of design space at laboratory scale显示文摘The study aims to prepare naproxen enteric-coated pellets(NAP-ECPs)by fluid-bed coating using QbD principle.Risk assessment was firstly performed by using failure mode and effect analysis(FMEA)methodology.A PlacketteBurman design was then used for assessment of the most important variables affecting enteric-coated pellets characteristics.A BoxeBehnken design was subsequently used for investigating the main,interactive,and quadratic effects of these variables on the response.By FMEA we discovered that eight factors should be considered to be high/important risk variables as compared with others.The responses of acid resistance and cumulative drug release were taken as critical quality attributes(CQAs).Pareto ranking analyses indicated that the coating weight gain(X_(7)),triethyl citrate percentage(X_(1))and glycerol monostearate percentage(X_(2))were the most significant factors affecting the selected responses out of the eight high-risk variables.Optimization with response surface method(RSM)further fully clarified the relationship between X_(7),X_(1),X_(2) and CQAs,and design space was established based on the constraints set on the responses.Due to the extreme coincidence of the predicted value generated by model with the observed value,the accuracy and robustness of the model were confirmed.It could be concluded that a promising NAP-ECPs was successfully designed using QbD approach in a laboratory scale.Shuling Kan Jing Lu Jianping Liu Junlin Wang Yi Zhao 2014Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2014,9,5:1

14Effects of coefficient of friction and coefficient of restitution on static packing characteristics of polydisperse spherical pebble bed显示文摘The effects of the coefficient of friction and coefficient of restitution on the static packing characteristics of a polydisperse spherical pebble bed are numerically investigated using the discrete element method.Several important static packing characteristics under different coefficients of friction and restitution are presented and discussed.The results show that the coefficients of friction and restitution impose opposite effects on the packing heights and global packing factor.Neither the coefficient of friction nor restitution affected the oscillation width of the wall,whereas their effects are primarily reflected in the oscillation amplitude of the radial local packing factor and the axial local packing factor distribution at the top of the pebble bed.In both the contact force distribution and coordination number distribution,a left-shifted phenomenon appearing as the coefficient of friction occurred,and only the magnitude of the maximum frequency is affected when the coefficient of restitution changed from 0.1 to 0.9.In all simulation cases,the effects of the coefficients of friction and restitution are similar to that of cross-impact.Jian Wang Mingzhun Lei Hao Yang Kun Xu Shuling Xu Pinghui Zhao Yuntao Song 2021Particuology2021,19,4:0

16INTS-MFS:A novel method to predict microRNA-disease associations by integrating network topology similarity and microRNA function similarity显示文摘Identifying associations between microRNAs(miRNAs)and diseases is very important to understand the occurrence and development of human diseases.However,these existing methods suffer from the following limitation:first,some disease-related miRNAs are obtained from the miRNA functional similarity networks consisting of heterogeneous data sources,i.e.,disease similarity,protein interaction network,gene expression.Second,little approaches infer disease-related miRNAs depending on the network topological features without the functional similarity of miRNAs.In this paper,we develop a novel model of Integrating Network Topology Similarity and MicroRNA Function Similarity(INTS-MFS).The integrated miRNA similarities are calculated based on miRNA functional similarity and network topological characteristics.INTS-MFS obtained AUC of 0.872 based on five-fold cross-validation and was applied to three common human diseases in case studies.As a results,30 out of top 30 predicted Prostatic Neoplasm-related miRNAs were included in the two databases of dbDEMC and PhenomiR2.0.29 out of top 30 predicted Lung Neoplasm-related miRNAs and Breast Neoplasm-related miRNAs were included in dbDEMC,PhenomiR2.0 and experimental reports.Moreover,INTS-MFS found unknown association with hsa-mir-371a in breast cancer and lung cancer,which have not been reported.It provides biologists new clues for diagnosing breast and lung cancer.BUWEN CAO JIAWEI LUO SAINAN XIAO KAI ZHAO SHULING YANG 2022BIOCELL2022,46,3:0

20Effect of growth hormone-releasing peptide on cardiac cholinergic nerve fiber density distribution in a rat model of heart failure显示文摘BACKGROUND:Changes in the cardiac autonomic nerve are considered to be important factors in the mechanisms of heart failure.It is possible to reduce or slow down nerve degeneration and necrosis,provided that patients take effective neuroprotectants during the early stages of heart failure.Moreover,it is possible to relieve the pathological process and reduce the risk of death. OBJECTIVE:To study the effect of growth hormone releasing peptide(GHRP) on cardiac cholinergic nerve fiber density distribution in a rat model of heart failure,and verify whether GHRP can ameliorate denervation. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A randomized controlled study was performed at the Key Laboratory of Anatomy,Harbin Medical University,between June and October 2009. MATERIALS:Fifty adult,healthy,female,Wistar rats,weighing(200±20) g,were randomly divided into GHRP(n = 30),model(n = 10),and sham operation(n = 10) groups.GHRP-2 was made in Shanghai,China(batch No.z071212-03). METHODS:Acute myocardial infarction was established by ligating the left anterior descending coronary artery in the GHRP and model groups.Five weeks later,myocardial function was detected using color ultrasound electrocardiograph.Ejection fraction<60%was considered to be a successful marker of chronic heart failure models.However,the left anterior descending coronary artery was not ligated in the sham operation group.The GHRP group was injected with 100μg/kg GHRP-2,and the other two groups were injected with the same volume of physiological saline,once per day. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:After 4 weeks,pathological changes in cardiac cholinergic nerve fibers were detected under optic microscopy following hematoxylin/eosin staining.In addition, density distribution was measured using a multi-function color pathological image system. RESULTS:In the sham operation group,myocardial cells were regular,uniformly stained,and no inflammatory cells were present.In the model group,myocardial cells were unevenly stained, exhibited nuclear atrophy,degeneration,dissolution,or disappearance.In the GHRP group, myocardial damage was less than in the model group;cardiac muscle fibers exhibited slight degeneration.The myocardium in the sham operation group was serried,spreading the cholinergic innervations along the cardiac fiber.In the model group,there was a decreased number of cholinergic nerve fibers decreased,which also became shorter and smaller,compared with the sham operation group(P<0.01).In the GHRP group,cholinergic positive nerve fibers were significantly increased compared with the model group(P<0.01),but still less than the sham surgery group(P<0.05).
