2Optimization of double chamber microbial fuel cell for domestic wastewater treatment and electricity production显示文摘Microbial fuel cells(M FCs)represent a new approach for treating w aste w ater along w ith electricity production.The present study addressed electricity production from domestic w astew ater using a mediator-less double chamber M FC.The electricity production w as monitored under different operational conditions for both summer and w inter samples.Optimization of the anodic and cathodic chambers resulted in a maximal current of 0.784 and 0.645 m A w ith the maximal pow er intensity of 209 and 117 m W/m2in pow er duration of 24 h for the summer and w inter samples,respectively.Scanning electron microscopy show ed that the bacterial biofilm formation on the anode w as denser for the summer sample than that w hen the w inter sample w as used,so w as the total bacterial count.Therefore,samples taken during summer w ere considered better in electricity production and w aste w ater treatment than those taken during w inter basically because of the high microbial load during the hot season.In parallel,there w as a decrease in both biological oxygen demand(BOD5)and chemical oxygen demand(COD)values which reached 71.8%and 72.85%,respectively at the end of the operation process for the summer sample,w hile there w as no evident decrease for the w inter sample.Optimizing the operating conditions not only increased the potential of using domestic w aste w ater in microbial fuel cells to produce electricity,but also improved the quality of the domestic w aste w ater.Amr El-Hag Ali Ola M.Gomaa Reham Fathey Hussein Abd El Kareem Mohamed Abou Zaid 2015燃料化学学报2015,43,9:1
3Detection of Copy-Move Forgery in Digital Images Using Singular Value Decomposition显示文摘This paper presents an improved approach for detecting copy-move forgery based on singular value decomposition(SVD).It is a block-based method where the image is scanned from left to right and top to down by a sliding window with a determined size.At each step,the SVD is determined.First,the diagonal matrix’s maximum value(norm)is selected(representing the scaling factor for SVD and a fixed value for each set of matrix elements even when rotating thematrix or scaled).Then,the similar norms are grouped,and each leading group is separated into many subgroups(elements of each subgroup are neighbors)according to 8-adjacency(the subgroups for each leading group must be far from others by a specific distance).After that,a weight is assigned for each subgroup to classify the image as forgery or not.Finally,the F1 score of the proposed system is measured,reaching 99.1%.This approach is robust against rotation,scaling,noisy images,and illumination variation.It is compared with other similarmethods and presents very promised results.Zaid Nidhal Khudhair Farhan Mohamed Amjad Rehman Tanzila Saba Saeed Ali bahaj 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,2:1
4Long term efficacy and stability of corneal collagen cross linking for post-LASIK ectasia: an average of 80mo follow-up显示文摘This study was designed to evaluate efficacy and stability of corneal collagen crosslinking(CXL) in halting the progression of post-laser in situ keratomileusis(LASIK) ectasia and provide long-term follow-up results with an average of 80 mo. Patients with post-LASIK ectasia were treated with CXL between December 2007 and January 2012. Main outcome measures were uncorrected distance visual acuities(UDVA) and corrected distance visual acuities(CDVA), minimum and maximum keratometry(K) values, spherical and cylindrical refraction, and corneal thickness. The study evaluated 17 eyes for 13 patients(8 men, 5 women) with mean age of 31y(range 23 to 39) and mean follow-up of 80.7±15(range 57 to 102)mo. UDVA and CDVA improved from logMAR 0.53±0.36(20/63) to 0.49±0.4(20/50)(P=0.43) and from 0.18±0.17(20/28) to 0.16±0.16(20/27)(P=0.55) respectively. In 15 eyes UDVA and in 13 eyes CDVA either remained stable or improved ≥1 Snellen lines(88.2%) and(76.5%) respectively. Although statistically insignificant, spherical and cylindrical refraction decreased post-CXL from-1.26±2.87 to-0.38±2.32 diopters(D)(P=0.054) and from-3.80±2.47 to-3.04±2.18 D(P=0.13) respectively. Kmax significantly decreased from 44.23±3.76 to 42.85±3.08 D(P=0.013) and Kmin decreased from 41.07±3.61 to 40.00±2.65 D(P=0.057). Corneal thickness decreased from 470±42 to 460±41 μm, but was statistically non-significant(P=0.063). 5Graphene Oxide Application in Cement-Bound Materials-State of the Art显示文摘In recent years,the incorporation of nanoparticles in the cementitious matrix has been regarded as a prominent strategy in the research effort.This paper reviews the influences of the nanomaterial GO(graphene oxide)in cement bound materials,as GO has become one of the most well-known inclusion nanoparticles in the cementitious matrix in the last few years.This study describes(i)the influences of the GO on enhancing hydration mechanism in the cementitious materials;and(ii)the improved performance of the cementitious materials,which are highly dependent on the functionalizing behavior of the GO.All this improves the properties of the matrix.The paper reports the influences of GO on the workability of the mixtures and the durability enhancement of the cementitious composites.Therefore,it demonstrates promising results of employing GO in the fabrication of novel building materials.However,tremendous progress in utilizing GO in scientific domains like materials technology has achieved a significant level.Remarkable progress has been achieved by applying the GO in different fields such as solar cells and super capacitors.Hence,more intensive research is required to achieve comparable improvement in building materials which constitutes a significant future challenge.Katalin Kopecskó Zaid Ali Abdulhussein Khaiqani 2021材料科学与工程(中英文B版)2021,11,4:0
6Medium-term mortality after hip fractures and COVID-19:A prospective multicentre UK study显示文摘Purpose:The COVID-19 pandemic has caused 1.4 million deaths globally and is associated with a 3-4 times increase in 30-day mortality after a fragility hip fracture with concurrent COVID-19 infection.Typically,death from COVID-19 infection occurs between 15 and 22 days after the onset of symptoms,but this period can extend up to 8 weeks.This study aimed to assess the impact of concurrent COVID-19 infection on 120-day mortality after a fragility hip fracture.Methods:A multi-centre prospective study across 10 hospitals treating 8%of the annual burden of hip fractures in England between 1st March and 30th April,2020 was performed.Patients whose surgical treatment was payable through the National Health Service Best Practice Tariff mechanism for'fragility hip fractures'were included in the study.Patients'120-day mortality was assessed relative to their perioperative COVID-19 status.Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version 27.Results:A total of 746 patients were included in this study,of which 87(11.7%)were COVID-19 positive.Mortality rates at 30-and 120-day were significantly higher for COVID-19 positive patients relative to COVID-19 negative patients(p<0.001).However,mortality rates between 31 and 120-day were not significantly different(p=0.107),16.1%and 9.4%respectively for COVID-19 positive and negative patients,odds ratio 1.855(95%CI 0.865-3.978).Conclusion:Hip fracture patients with concurrent COVID-19 infection,provided that they are alive at day-31 after injury,have no significant difference in 120-day mortality.Despite the growing awareness and concern of 'long-COVID'and its widespread prevalence,this does not appear to increase mediumterm mortality rates after a hip fracture.Gareth Chan Ashish Narang Arash Aframian Zaid Ali Joseph Bridgeman Alastair Carr Laura Chapman Henry Goodier Catrin Morgan Chang Park Sarah Sexton Kapil Sugand Thomas Walton Michael Wilson Ajay Belgaumkar Kieran Gallagher Koushik Ghosh Charles Gibbons Joshua Jacob Andrew Keightley Zuhair Nawaz Khaled Sarraf Christopher Wakeling William Kieffer Benedict Rogers 2022Chinese Journal of Traumatology2022,25,3:0

8Mordell Elliptic Curve Based Design of Nonlinear Component of Block Cipher显示文摘Elliptic curves(ECs)are deemed one of the most solid structures against modern computational attacks because of their small key size and high security.In many well-known cryptosystems,the substitution box(Sbox)is used as the only nonlinear portion of a security system.Recently,it has been shown that using dynamic S-boxes rather than static S-boxes increases the security of a cryptosystem.The conferred study also extends the practical application of ECs in designing the nonlinear components of block ciphers in symmetric key cryptography.In this study,instead of the Mordell elliptic curve(MEC)over the prime field,the Galois field has been engaged in constructing the S-boxes,the main nonlinear component of the block ciphers.Also,the proposed scheme uses the coordinates of MEC and the operation of the Galois field to generate a higher number of S-boxes with optimal nonlinearity,which increases the security of cryptosystems.The proposed S-boxes resilience against prominent algebraic and statistical attacks is evaluated to determine its potential to induce confusion and produce acceptable results compared to other schemes.Also,the majority logic criteria(MLC)are used to assess the new S-boxes usage in the image encryption application,and the outcomes indicate that they have significant cryptographic strength.Hafeez ur Rehman Tariq Shah Mohammad Mazyad Hazzazi Ali Alshehri Bassfar Zaid 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,11:0

10Hill Matrix and Radix-64 Bit Algorithm to Preserve Data Confidentiality显示文摘There are many cloud data security techniques and algorithms available that can be used to detect attacks on cloud data,but these techniques and algorithms cannot be used to protect data from an attacker.Cloud cryptography is the best way to transmit data in a secure and reliable format.Various researchers have developed various mechanisms to transfer data securely,which can convert data from readable to unreadable,but these algorithms are not sufficient to provide complete data security.Each algorithm has some data security issues.If some effective data protection techniques are used,the attacker will not be able to decipher the encrypted data,and even if the attacker tries to tamper with the data,the attacker will not have access to the original data.In this paper,various data security techniques are developed,which can be used to protect the data from attackers completely.First,a customized American Standard Code for Information Interchange(ASCII)table is developed.The value of each Index is defined in a customized ASCII table.When an attacker tries to decrypt the data,the attacker always tries to apply the predefined ASCII table on the Ciphertext,which in a way,can be helpful for the attacker to decrypt the data.After that,a radix 64-bit encryption mechanism is used,with the help of which the number of cipher data is doubled from the original data.When the number of cipher values is double the original data,the attacker tries to decrypt each value.Instead of getting the original data,the attacker gets such data that has no relation to the original data.After that,a Hill Matrix algorithm is created,with the help of which a key is generated that is used in the exact plain text for which it is created,and this Key cannot be used in any other plain text.The boundaries of each Hill text work up to that text.The techniques used in this paper are compared with those used in various papers and discussed that how far the current algorithm is better than all other algorithms.Then,the Kasiski test is used to verify the validity of the proposed algorithm and found that,if the proposed algorithm is used for data encryption,so an attacker cannot break the proposed algorithm security using any technique or algorithm.Ali Arshad Muhammad Nadeem Saman Riaz Syeda Wajiha Zahra Ashit Kumar Dutta Zaid Alzaid Rana Alabdan Badr Almutairi Sultan Almotairi 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,5:0

12An Innovative Approach Using TKN-Cryptology for Identifying the Replay Assault显示文摘Various organizations store data online rather than on physical servers.As the number of user’s data stored in cloud servers increases,the attack rate to access data from cloud servers also increases.Different researchers worked on different algorithms to protect cloud data from replay attacks.None of the papers used a technique that simultaneously detects a full-message and partial-message replay attack.This study presents the development of a TKN(Text,Key and Name)cryptographic algorithm aimed at protecting data from replay attacks.The program employs distinct ways to encrypt plain text[P],a user-defined Key[K],and a Secret Code[N].The novelty of the TKN cryptographic algorithm is that the bit value of each text is linked to another value with the help of the proposed algorithm,and the length of the cipher text obtained is twice the length of the original text.In the scenario that an attacker executes a replay attack on the cloud server,engages in cryptanalysis,or manipulates any data,it will result in automated modification of all associated values inside the backend.This mechanism has the benefit of enhancing the detectability of replay attacks.Nevertheless,the attacker cannot access data not included in any of the papers,regardless of how effective the attack strategy is.At the end of paper,the proposed algorithm’s novelty will be compared with different algorithms,and it will be discussed how far the proposed algorithm is better than all other algorithms.Syeda Wajiha Zahra Muhammad Nadeem Ali Arshad Saman Riaz Muhammad Abu Bakr Ashit Kumar Dutta Zaid Alzaid Badr Almutairi Sultan Almotairi 2024Computers, Materials & Continua2024,78,1:0
13Trends in hospitalization for alcoholic hepatitis from 2011 to 2017:A USA nationwide study显示文摘BACKGROUND Severe alcoholic hepatitis(AH)is one of the most lethal manifestations of alcoholassociated liver disease.In light of the increase in alcohol consumption worldwide,the incidence of AH is on the rise,and data examining the trends of AH admission is needed.AIM To examine inpatient admission trends secondary to AH,along with their clinical outcomes and epidemiological characteristics.METHODS The National Inpatient Sample(NIS)database was utilized,and data from 2011 to 2017 were reviewed.We included individuals aged≥21 years who were admitted with a primary or secondary diagnosis of AH using the International Classification of Diseases(ICD)-9 and its correspondent ICD-10 codes.Hepatitis not related to alcohol was excluded.The national estimates of inpatient admissions were obtained using sample weights provided by the NIS.RESULTS AH-related hospitalization demonstrated a significant increase in the USA from 281506(0.7%of the total admission in 2011)to 324050(0.9%of the total admi-ssion in 2017).The median age was 54 years.The most common age group was 45–65 years(range 57.8%–60.7%).The most common race was white(63.2%–66.4%),and patients were predominantly male(69.7%–71.2%).The primary healthcare payers were Medicare(29.4%–30.7%)and Medicaid(21.5%–32.5%).The most common geographical location was the Southern USA(33.6%–34.4%).Most patients were admitted to a tertiary care center(50.2%–62.3%)located in urban areas.Mortality of AH in this inpatient sample was 5.3%in 2011 and 5.5%in 2017.The most common mortality-associated risk factors were acute renal failure(59.6%–72.1%)and gastrointestinal hemorrhage(17.2%–20.3%).The total charges were noted to range between$25242.62 and$34874.50.CONCLUSION The number of AH inpatient hospitalizations significantly increased from 2011 to 2017.This could have a substantial financial impact with increasing healthcare costs and utilization.AH-mortality remained the same.Ali Wakil Mujtaba Mohamed Zaid Tafesh Mumtaz Niazi Raquel Olivo Weiyi Xia Patricia Greenberg Nikolaos Pyrsopoulos 2022World Journal of Gastroenterology2022,28,34:0
