| 1 | Assessment of sunflower germplasm for phytoremediation of lead-polluted soil and production of seed oil and seed meal for human and animal consumption显示文摘Phytoremediation is a valuable technology for mitigating soil contamination in agricultural lands,but phytoremediation without economic revenue is unfeasible for land owners and farmers.The use of crops with high biomass and bioenergy for phytoremediation is a unique strategy to derive supplementary benefits along with remediation activities.Sunflower(Helianthus annuus L.)is a high-biomass crop that can be used for the phytoremediation of polluted lands with additional advantages(biomass and oil).In this study,40 germplasms of sunflower were screened in field conditions for phytoremediation with the possibility for oil and meal production.The study was carried out to the physiological maturity stage.All studied germplasms mopped up substantial concentrations of Pb,with maximum amounts in shoot>root>seed respectively.The phytoextraction efficiency of the germplasm was assessed in terms of the Transfer factor(TF),Metal removal efficiency(MRE)and Metal extraction ratio(MER).Among all assessed criteria,GP.8585 was found to be most appropriate for restoring moderately Pb-contaminated soil accompanied with providing high biomass and high yield production.The Pb content in the oil of GP.8585 was below the Food safety standard of China,with 59.5% oleic acid and 32.1% linoleic acid.Moreover,amino acid analysis in meal illustrated significant differences among essential and nonessential amino acids.Glutamic acid was found in the highest percentage(22.4%),whereas cysteine in the lowest percentage(1.3%).Therefore,its efficient phytoextraction ability and good quality edible oil and meal production makes GP.8585 the most convenient sunflower germplasm for phytoremediation of moderately Pb-contaminated soil,with fringe benefits to farmers and landowners. | Afsheen Zehra Zulfiqar Ali Sahito Wenbin Tong Lin Tang Yasir Hamid Muhammad Bilal Khan Zarina Ali Beena Naqui Xiaoe Yang | 2020 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,1: | 10 |
| 2 | Antibiotics,gut microbiota,and irritable bowel syndrome:What are the relations?显示文摘Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)is a functional gastrointestinal disorder in which recurrent abdominal pain is associated with defecation or a change in bowel habits(constipation,diarrhea,or both),and it is often accompanied by symptoms of abdominal bloating and distension.IBS is an important health care issue because it negatively affects the quality of life of patients and places a considerable financial burden on health care systems.Despite extensive research,the etiology and underlying pathophysiology of IBS remain incompletely understood.Proposed mechanisms involved in its pathogenesis include increased intestinal permeability,changes in the immune system,visceral hypersensitivity,impaired gut motility,and emotional disorders.Recently,accumulating evidence has highlighted the important role of the gut microbiota in the development of IBS.Microbial dysbiosis within the gut is thought to contribute to all aspects of its multifactorial pathogenesis.The last few decades have also seen an increasing interest in the impact of antibiotics on the gut microbiota.Moreover,antibiotics have been suggested to play a role in the development of IBS.Extensive research has established that antibacterial therapy induces remarkable shifts in the bacterial community composition that are quite similar to those observed in IBS.This suggestion is further supported by data from cohort and case-control studies,indicating that antibiotic treatment is associated with an increased risk of IBS.This paper summarizes the main findings on this issue and contributes to a deeper understanding of the link between antibiotic use and the development of IBS. | Zarina Mamieva Elena Poluektova Valery Svistushkin Vasily Sobolev Oleg Shifrin Francisco Guarner Vladimir Ivashkin | 2022 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2022,28,12: | 8 |
| 3 | Bound states in the continuum and Fano resonances in the strong mode coupling regime显示文摘The study of resonant dielectric nanostructures with a high refractive index is a new research direction in the nanoscale optics and metamaterial-inspired nanophotonics.Because of the unique optically induced electric and magnetic Mie resonances,high-index nanoscale structures are expected to complement or even replace different plasmonic components in a range of potential applications.We study a strong coupling between modes of a single subwavelength high-index dielectric resonator and analyze the mode transformation and Fano resonances when the resonator’s aspect ratio varies.We demonstrate that strong mode coupling results in resonances with high-quality factors,which are related to the physics of bound states in the continuum when the radiative losses are almost suppressed due to the Friedrich–Wintgen scenario of destructive interference.We explain the physics of these states in terms of multipole decomposition,and show that their appearance is accompanied by a drastic change in the far-field radiation pattern.We reveal a fundamental link between the formation of the high-quality resonances and peculiarities of the Fano parameter in the scattering cross-section spectra.Our theoretical findings are confirmed by microwave experiments for the scattering of high-index cylindrical resonators with a tunable aspect ratio.The proposed mechanism of the strong mode coupling in single subwavelength high-index resonators accompanied by resonances with high-quality factors helps to extend substantially functionalities of all-dielectric nanophotonics,which opens horizons for active and passive nanoscale metadevices. | Andrey A.Bogdanov Kirill LKoshelev Polina VKapitanova Mikhail VRybin Sergey AGladyshev Zarina FSadrieva Kirill BSamusev Yuri SKivshar a Mikhail FLimonov | 2019 | Advanced Photonics2019,1,1: | 6 |
